Iced with a splash of cran-pineapple juice. The result is sweet but with a distinct pineapple flavor. Just a touch of pineapple sourness to keep this from cloying.

I think Sil would like my packet of this since it is loaded with cardamom. It smelled so marshmallowy and though there is a fluffy sweetness it is mainly cardamom. As such I don’t think this is really for me so Sil, don’t be surprised if you find more of this in the bag of teas I’m putting aside for you.

drank Bubblegum by The NecessiTeas

Throughout the week several coworkers told me my voice sounded like I was coming down with something but I felt fine so I brushed it off. Yesterday I started to feel off, like someone put a balloon in my skull and was blowing it up so my head felt simultaneously floaty and pressurized. That hasn’t gone away so I am now testing my tastebuds to see if I can taste teas how I normally would.

This is lightly flavored in general so it may have not been the best choice to test my tastebuds with. With that said, I can taste a bit of bubblegum flavoring so hope is not lost. It is a bit flat, though that could be due to age so basically the jury is still out on whether or not my tastebuds are affected.

Uh oh, hope you aren’t coming down with the flu!

This cold of mine or whatever it is started off with no effect on my tastebuds initially. Of course, that changed. But then, it took a couple of days for my throat to be affected.

Hope this is just a briefly passing thing in your case.

Though this is feeling a bit flat tonight, it is still nice. A little ginger, a little green base and a whole lot of plum.

Tonight this iced tea tastes like floral/berry water. No cucumber. No lemonade. It’s not bad but it certainly is lacking.

So my sister lives in Mimico and I live in Markham. For those of you who don’t know what that means, just know we’re about a 45 minute drive apart. However, my work is a bit more centered so some nights I stay at her place and other times I come home. Food is often ordered at both places and there has never been an issue…until today. Stupid me placed a burrito order for me, my brother, my mom, and my brother’s girlfriend, only to realize too late that I placed the order to go to my sister’s address and not my place. When I tried cancelling they said they already started making the food so I had to pay for it but not actually get the food. I would have just sent it to my sister but she wouldn’t eat the flavors we picked and her husband is allergic so he couldn’t have it either. Then I got to pay for the order AGAIN so that we could have the food delivered to us at home. I realized all of this while preparing this tea.

Anyways, the tea is nice. It smells like candy canes but is a little medicinal because of the peppermint. I don’t know if it screams creme brulee but there is a creamy caramel note. Also it burns the back of my throat just a touch when I drink. Not sure why. It is good but not great.

Gah! And gah again, on several counts.

drank Superfruit by Tea Sparrow

I coldbrewed this over the weekend and brought it to work yesterday. Then I forgot to drink it and only now opened it to give it a taste. It smelled awesome but it tasted terrible. Whereas the smell was that of tart and fresh berries or even tart berry flavored candies, the taste was that of a sweet wine that had gone bad but was still very sweet. So yeah, not my thing…st least when cold brewed.

“de la creme” gets me every time. I see it and have to have it. Though in the case of this tea I don’t know if its working for me. I want more…more flavor from the passion fruit or more cream. The two flavors are present but conflicting and on top of that the white base contributes a lot of flavor that also feels out of place.

drank Hummingbird by A Quarter to Tea

Yesterday I went to the doctor and found out I have high blood pressure which may or may not be because I was getting a tetanus shot and blood drawn and I am terrified of needles. Then I went and bought a car. Today I am feeling unsettled and out of sorts and I don’t know why. So what better day to have a favorite? Except sipping on this, even this is off. It is one-note and just a bit smokey :(

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
