Well this is not my favorite of teas but it is a sample I will certainly be able to get through (especially given that it is caffeine free and so I can drink it at any time). It also helps that it is named for the love shared between the most adorable angel and one of the most attractive hunters in the world :P. Thank you for sharing, MissB!

How have I not heard of these teas? OMG.

Sami Kelsh

Break a leg! You can do it!

Roswell Strange

I’m sure you’ll kick ass! :)

VariaTEA

Thanks guys. Weirdly enough I think I am more nervous about the midterm on Thursday as opposed to the final tomorrow. Hopefully, all goes well.

mrs.stenhouse12

Good luck on both exams! Tea always helps to calm and focus when studying :)

tigress_al

Hope you did well!

VariaTEA

Thanks everyone! My final is over. Now I am just waiting for my next class to start while studying for tomorrow’s midterm. The plus side of all of this is I will get a little bit of a break soon that I can use to catch up on everything. Oh and in one month I am done forever (or at least until I start a new program in the fall :P)

VariaTEA

My mark has already posted and I did well. YAY! I shall attribute my success to all your support so in a way, we all did well :P.

CHAroma

Congrats!

Shmiracles

YAAAAAAY!!! wonderful!

Well, this is pretty anti-climactic. I don’t know why but I was expecting something mind-blowing and unique . This is not that. It is slightly peachy with a hint of veggie flavor but mostly it is just meh. Well, now, thanks to the wonderful Roswell Strange (thank you!!), I have been able to try this for myself and realize that it is not as special as it might seem.

ETA: As I continue to sip, the veggies come out a bit more which is making this tea more notable and more than just another sorta fruity cup. Still it is not something that I need to have in my cupboard. Though I am glad to have another cup.

Preparation

I think I love the name of this tea most of all the things about it. It sounds like it should be magical, you know?

Cheri

I’ve seen this one described a few times and even went and looked at ordering it, just because it is so unique. I just can’t bring myself to do it.

Plunkybug

I have a little of this one left…I’m saving either for Easter or for a cold steep when it is warmer. Nit sure which yet.

I made a whole Mason Jar of this tea and though it is still good, the subtleties of the flavor is a bit drowned out by the sheer surplus of tea. This certainly lends itself better to a much smaller cup size.

keychange

They really need to make a smaller version of the mason jar, if you ask me.

VariaTEA

I think I will enjoy this in teacups.

Dustin

Like an empty baby food jar, keychange? :P

Having this again today because I have decided I am going to order the peanut butter version and I was debating if I wanted to order more of this. Alas this cup is not as inspiring as some of the others I have had in the past since the the strawberry is much more muted. With that said, I certainly won’t be getting the two extra bags I was debating but I might add another to the cart. We shall have to see what happens. Nonetheless, thank you NayLynn soooo much for sending me a whole pouch of this tasty tea.

On a slightly sad note, my tea triplet Roswell Strange was so awesome and sent me some more Lemon Chiffon by Della Terra because she knows I enjoy cold brewing it. I was so excited that I promptly set up the tea to cold brew. Then I forgot about it and now, after days of sitting, it has started getting slightly moldy. Alas, I had to dump it all out :(.

Fjellrev

Brutal! I had some of Tea Desire’s White Angel start to go moldy in the jug after a couple days even though I already took out the tea filter. Sucks when that happens.

Dustin

Are you guys cold brewing in the fridge? I have left tea to cold brew for a week or more without getting mold. Never thought to worry about it before that.
Variatea, have you tried the Lime Chiffon yet? I’m crazy in love with that stuff! The lemon is good too, but the lime… oh the lime!

VariaTEA

I am coldbrewing in the fridge and for me it wasn’t out right mold but it was a scum that formed. It may have just been sediment from leftover leaf but something tasted a touch off so I dumped it.

Also, I have tried Lime Chiffon both hot and cold. I love Lime Chiffon as a hot tea and think it is alright cold brewed. Lemon Chiffon, on the other hand, I far prefer as a cold brew.

CHAroma

Ewww yuck. I agree with Dustin that it’s weird. I’ve cold brewed tea in the fridge for a week or more and it’s definitely not gotten moldy on me. Now I’m going to be paranoid about it though. O_O

Fjellrev

For me, it’s not full on mold either, but like a speckly, but not fuzzy, stuff on the sides of the jug, right around the water surface.

CHAroma

Oh dear.

VariaTEA

Mine looks like sediment in the bottom and if I shake the bottle, it goes away but the tea gets foamy. I figure I have so much tea, why risk drinking it.

Fjellrev

Yeah, same here. To be fair, it’s only happened twice to me. I think it had to do with the type of tea itself.

drank Cinnamon Roll Honeybush by 52teas
6444 tasting notes

Right now I am soo happy to have a big mug of hot tea! I have electric heating in my apartment and the temperature gage is pretty old fashioned (the dial that has notches for ever 5 degrees C) and also outside my actual bedroom. The result of this antiquated system? Despite keeping the dial between 10C and 15C at all times, my room is either freezing cold (as in I am decked out completely in sweats and socks and tucked into bed and I still can’t feel my extremities) or boiling hot (as in I could be naked and still sweating) depending on what notch it is slightly turned towards. So, all day long, I am running in and out of my room turning the dial between basically 12C and 13C, adding/removing clothing, and getting in/out of the bed. The worst part? Before I lost 65 pounds, this was not a problem because I barely put the heat on and was still always hot. Right now, as I sit in my room freezing, I can actually see the positives of gaining the weight back but luckily, that isn’t entirely necessary because I got a big old mug of this to keep my hands and body a little bit warmer…even if it does mostly just taste like honeybush today.

Thank you Dustin, again, for sharing this with me! I was a bit worried that since it has such a unique flavor, the novelty would wear off and I would not enjoy the second cup as much as the first. However, this is still as tasty as ever! Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be available on their site anymore. I am guessing this might be seasonal? Hopefully it is just out of stock though and comes back in when I finally decide to place an order with them.

Sil

Interesting. Uh I think it’s tea cupany that does a sweet potato pie as well…that was quite tasty

Anna

It does sound seasonal, and maybe US-specific as well? You know, if I had the time, I would become one of those CRAZED fanpeople for Lupicia – you know, running a website where I keep track of all discontinued flavours and such. I would frickin love that.

VariaTEA

Sil, I shall keep that in mind. And Anna, that seems like quite the way to spend your time.

drank Bananas Foster by 52teas
6444 tasting notes

I LOVE bananas foster so I am sooo glad NayLynn was awesome enough to send me some of this tasty treat (Thank you NayLynn!!!).

First off, the brewed cup smells awesomely delicious – like caramelized bananas (shocking, right?). And as I sip on it now, I am reminded of the 52 tea’s Butterscotch Banana (another shocker :P). There is one exception and that is the base – there is a quality to it that is a touch present but it is lending itself to the rum component of a bananas foster. Overall, I continue to be impressed with 52 tea’s banana blends and am glad NayLynn was so generous with her sample size.

In completely unrelated news, has anyone ever used snapchat? I got the app because a bunch of my friends are spread throughout the country and it is a fun way to keep in touch but also its just really weeeiird.

Sami Kelsh

Ohhh man, that sounds nice. Incidentally, I’m making some form of banana cake tonight. I’m thinking with whole spelt, dates and maple syrup. Really moist and luscious. I’m making myself hungry.

MissB

Super weird (can get creepy); I find only younger folks use it, and I just use other app if I want to chat with my friends.

VariaTEA

Ooooh Sami, that sounds delicious!! I hope it turns out amazing!

And MissB, I am pretty sure a lot of people use it for some not-so-innocent reasons but luckily I don’t know anyone who would decide to use it in that manner. So far it has been funny faces, pictures of food, and screenshots of TV shows. Not the most productive or cultured way to spend our time but still entertaining.

keychange

To chat to groups of friends simultaneously, I just use whatsap.

VariaTEA

A lot of my friends have Iphones so I use imessage but this is also a fun alternative.

Roswell Strange

I haven’t used it in forever, but I have a snapchat! I think it’s roswell_mfs if anyone wants to add me.

VariaTEA

Haha we can snapchat our tea time :P

Dustin

I kept reading “snapchat” and registering “chatroulette”, the chat site that sets you up to video chat with a random stranger… which reminded me of that dude Steve Kardynal. Now I have to watch his chatroulette video again. It’s the best ever! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6DmHGYy_xk

Anna

I wonder how many of those who laugh their asses off at that consider the fact that they wouldn’t have laughed if it had been a woman rather than a man performing exactly the same moves.

Also, as always, MASSIVE props to all the straight dudes getting into that performance bigtime.

VariaTEA

He also did this one a few years back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o71kCuva4B4

Anna

I have this vague memory of reading some interview with him a long time ago, where he stressed that he wanted to address gender issues. Otherwise, I’m obviously aggressively against the ‘dudes dressing up as ladies is FUNNY’ brand of humour.

TeaLady441

Dustin – YES. I love that video.

Dustin

He has done a few chatroulette videos now, but I think the Miley one is my favorite. I love all the guys who are laying down in bed with their shirts off hoping to get a hot voyeuristic girl on the other end, but get Steve instead.

I was in high school when the Nirvana video came out where they were wearing dresses (had a huge crush on the drummer) and have thought that guys in dresses were hot ever since. Mrs. Doubtfire and White Girls type guys in dresses is irritating (maybe that is the same type of humor you were talking about Anna), but drag queens are amazing and get mad respect. I do get a little envious of guys that have sexier legs than I do tho. :)

Anna

Unf yes, boys in drag (looking forward to when it’s not ‘drag’, but everyone just wears dresses and skirts, guy or not) and, for me, also boys in make up (everyone really does look better with make up, in my opinion). There’s a FB thing going around now (I think only Great Britain) in connection with a cancer donation campaign – women post selfies without make up and men post selfies with make up. My feed is like Christmas.

Thank you Fjellrev for the opportunity to try this tea. Sipping on it now, I am definitely getting blueberry however the flavor is really quite weak. I just find myself wanting MORE!! Perhaps the 1/2 tsp for 8 oz of water had something to do with the subtlety of the tea? Hmmm…

Fjellrev

Yeah I think I used at least 1 tsp per cup. :)

OwenjMayer

I had to double the recommended amount to get more of a tea and less of a flavored warm water taste.

drank Strawberry Pie Honeybush by 52teas

This cooled before I got a chance to drink it today but I don’t mind because the strawberry is present and the cinnamon is making it the perfect pie flavor. Yum!

Bio

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
