I am really enjoying this one! Notes of coffee, chocolate, sweetness, some fruit maybe. I like this one because it has a thick dry edge to the taste reminiscent of coffee. Not bitter in any way, but it reminds me in a nice way of something I miss. This is a good potential coffee substitute.

Quite a nice dark thick liquor, and while it to me, seems quite similar to other shou Ive been recently trying, this one does things in a nice way, if im wanting a coffee-like drink.

I’d be interested to know others thoughts on this one, I think its quite good.

Flavors: Chocolate, Coffee, Sweet

I’m not a big fan of shou but this sounds pretty good.

Rasseru

Yeah, something about this one is just nice.

Rasseru

Its quite strong. I can feel the caffeine

I’m saving this one on my “to get next” list. I’m currently working on the Feng Quin Dian Hong from Yunnan Sourcing, and it’s brilliant.

Rasseru

yeah ive got some of that. its lovely, isnt it :)

MadHatterTeaDrunk

Yes. I’m trying to break away from sweets, and that tea is pretty great to do that with!

MadHatterTeaDrunk

Now I just need this tea to break away from coffee, too! Ha. Ha.

Rasseru

haha, I dont know if it will do that. I’m also a bit of a puerh noob, so my recommendations arent that of people with more experience. Its one of the nicest ripes ive had though for this kind of flavour.

I had to give up coffee over ten years ago now – thats what sparked off my drinking of different teas. I was happily surprised with the flavour of this one. That might mean there are some out there with much more of a coffee flavour! that would be amazing

AllanK

This one is on my list.

Rasseru

I’d be interested to know what you think of it. Something about the balance of the flavours just seems really nice, like someone has done a good job on the processing & storage.

Rasseru

or it was a leaf I would like in the first place

MadHatterTeaDrunk

I don’t like coffee flavored teas, but the teas that are bold like coffee, I suppose. I usually drink tea (98% of the time); however, I have “coffee-only” friends. Perhaps this would be a tea to introduce to them!

Rasseru

it definitely tastes like shu puerh, no question. But there is something about it, maybe the way the body is, which reminded me of black coffee.

MadHatterTeaDrunk

Mmmmm. I’ll have to give it a go :)

Tea and Cheese Lover

I find dark roasted flavors such as coffee, dark chocolate, and stout beer in Keemun teas, and I really like those teas. I’ll also have to add this to my want list.

Rasseru

try the sample first, I dont want people rushing out to buy it – im a bit of a puerh noob tbh, and it might not be the best substitute, its just something I noticed :)

Tea and Cheese Lover

I’m not too experienced with puerh either, but I’ve like all of the Shu that I’ve had so far, so it wouldn’t be much of a risk either way. I’m just beginning to figure out how to brew the Shengs, that truly is an art…

Rasseru

yes it is, i flash steep mine a lot and dont use boiling

Rasseru

drinking it again today, i immediately thought of coffee again smelling the liquor. And it wakes you up first cup the same way

Basically loads of Fenghuang, jade oolong & sheng puerh.

90+ is godly

80-90 is something i would buy again.

60-80 ok, but probably more bland or basic in their flavour.

0-60 something tastes wrong with this one.
