ummm YUM. I sip this and I get the blueberry of course, but you know that pure sugar coating they put on donuts and danishes that you know was once liquid and they just poured it over…GLAZE, it’s called glaze. I can taste the glaze and it’s freaking crazy awesome. I can taste the cream cheese vanilla-y icing that adds a creaminess to the flavor of the tea. The body is still a beautiful Assam so you don’t forget you’re enjoying a cup of tea, but you remember that you’re enjoying one of the best teas you’ve ever had.

This smells way more just like pure sweet blueberry than it tastes, the flavor encompasses everything you imagine about a danish, like I said from the glaze to the cream cheese filling. I don’t think I can get enough of this.

Sil

I can’t wait for this to get to me. Next week! woot woot!

ohfancythat

I will have to try this sometime, the blueberry zabaglione was kinda just meh to me

Jackie O

I don’t really like the strawberry zabaglione either, it’s like too candy sweet without anything else. This has more creaminess and that glaze…I can’t get over that glaze.

Lindsey

I’m with Sil; eagerly waiting for my order of this to come in!

drank Red Velvet Cake Mate by 52teas

I ordered 2 bags of this and only 1 came in the mail :( Anyway, I tried it this morning, I love to keep flavored mate on hand for waking up in the morning and I’m obsessed with dessert teas so something cake flavored with a jolt in the morning is my dream.

I’m impressed! it is definitely cakey, this is going to sound odd but you know how there’s a difference between the smell of cake baking and the smell once it’s done? Like while it’s baking it smells moist and once it’s done it’s drier? This tastes more like done cake, and I like that, it’s chocolately and cakey and I can even taste the cream cheese frosting which I did not expect. This may need to be stocked a little higher on my shelf so when it runs out I still have plenty.

Sil

That happened to me with another tea but Frank was good about getting another bag out to me when i emailed him about it right away.

Jackie O

phew, haha I checked on the website to make sure it wasn’t sold out first and I emailed him last night aka 1am when my boyfriend got home from work and brought the bag inside haha. I’m so in love with the new teas from him I’ve had lately!

Had some of this again last night. This is the first ‘new release’ from Davids in a few years that I have truly loved. We have used nearly 50 g in the last few months which actually is a lot for us. Typically we have different teas all the time but we return to this one frequently.

The first steep always delivers a strong strawberry taste with some earthy tartness in the background from the pu. There is no fishiness – I can barely even tell the pu is there actually. It also delivers a solid second steep though you do lose some strawberry flavour so it isn’t as good, but still worth steeping. This is the tea that has helped me to think I might be able to learn to love pu-erh.

I fully intend to go get a tin of this once our pouch is empty. Yum!

This is another tea I ended up getting at the Bi Rite grocery store, it’s definitely nice they are buying from a local supplier.

I am up early this morning to get some yoga in, therefore I decided to try and supercharge the caffeine here. Directions say to steep this for 2 minutes but I went for 3 before I read the instructions. I don’t think I will rate this until I have tried it at their recommendation.

But anyway… at 3 minutes this tea got fairly dark and is very aromatic, like the smell of baking bread. Typical of a golden monkey, there are bready and yam/banana type flavors present. Very low on tannins. I decided to add a splash of soymilk to mine with the longer steep and it is very good that way.

I’m very happy with this purchase and would not hesitate to get more.

oh that’s awesome that this tea is in a grocery store :)

Terri HarpLady

I haven’t really perused the grocery store tea section lately…wonder what I might find?

TeaBrat

well, this grocery store is VERY upscale so they do have some really good teas…

So I received my first Della Terra order yesterday and promptly ripped it open. This was the first tea I smelled and I knew that it would also be the first I tried.
Absolutely amazing. It’s almost hard to describe the layers of flavors. I swear you can actually taste a pastry crust, followed by a warm lemon flavor. Sometimes with lemon teas, all you taste is that harsh citrus. This is not that guy. The lemon is subtle and creamy and delicious.
This will definitely find its way into my cup rather frequently, so I guess I should order more immediately.

Yum! This one smells amazing both before & during steeping… like lemon curd with cream. The taste is a sweet lemon curd – almost like the lemon filling in a lemon meringue pie. Naturally, the first few sips are the best, but the last drops are good too.

I was worried about the honeybush after an experience with a sickly sweet blend, but this one is perfect.

yes i’m feeling all guns being pointed at me right now! yes i’m drinking a bagged tea for a change because i’m in a need for time!

Anyway enough with the fun stuff time for a quick review:

I’ve been drinking this bagged for a pretty long time now, because i’m actually liking the quality and thats a strange thing for a bagged tea. Maybe because this isn’t really a tea in the real sense off the word. Liking the coconut, cocoa taste in this one and thats a bit all i have to say! Easy to make quick to drink, don’t get bitter fast like most other bagged stuff…

going to make a quick update about this one.

Setting aside its way less smokey then your average lapsang the subtile tastes this tea gives makes it a exellent medium body tea. I’m appreciating it a bit more then a couple off days ago. Maybe it has something to do with the expectations i had being more in the other direction, i’m not really sure but well… enjoying this again!

It’s too late to be up with an angry teething baby. :| Nights like this make me wish I had to get up at 6 for work, instead of being off on maternity leave. /0\ (go to sleep baby, I’m sorry baby, I’m doing everything I can for you, stop being sad…)

Not even tea can fix this. :| Not even apple cinnamon tea.

Maybe I’ll just go to bed and cuddle her and that’ll calm her down. FIrst I need to calm down. Sip that tea down!

(Speaking of sipdowns, I’ve been sipping down like crazy! I think I’m at 85 teas or something? So I might eventually get down to that fabled 50. Just ignore the 9 I’ve got coming from Della Terra, and a few incoming swaps, and I’ll ignore the email from Zen Tea about 20-40% off teas… At least I’m making room? No more going over 100?)

Ozli

perks up at zen tea sale o__o

50 sounds like a pipe dream, dude.

sorry baby’s having such a rough time of it. :( my child’s ability to completely ignore his body and it’s trivial goings-on was a blessing, i guess – he just seemed to drool buckets. and buckets. and buckets.

Josie Jade

Poor little baby, hope everything is better this morning!!

Terri HarpLady

Hang in there cavo! It’s frustrating, but it will pass. Meanwhile, there’s a little homeopathic remedy made by Hyland’s called ‘teething tablets’. It works wonders! I used them with all 4 of my kids, who have also used them with their 3 kids. They are cheap, they are harmless, & babies love them (they dissolve instantly & have a sweet taste). I used to have to buy them at the health food store, but now many drugstores carry them. Many mothers have sworn by Hylands (of course, many moms have also sworn by whiskey, but I don’t recommend that). Here’s a link, if you’re interested: http://www.hylands.com/products/teething.php

TeaLady441

Thanks guys! She seems much happier today, and she doesn’t feel so hot either.

Terri- I’ll look into those tablets!

Ozli- I think the coupon code is Spring, but you can’t tell which teas are 20% or 40%. And aren’t you under 50 teas?

Ozli

Oh, I should have said it sounds like a pipe dream FOR YOU :P :P :P I probably am, yeah, but maybe not if I write up all the samples from you? I only add them as tasting notes, usually. Unless there’s LOTS.

TeaLady441

Fair enough! Some people count samples, others don’t. It’s easier if you don’t if people want to use your cupboard for trades, but I like knowing how many I have. Also, it makes me feel like I’m drinking it all because I get MOAR sipdowns. :P

Ozli

Ehehehehe. It aaaaall boils down to laziness with me. :P

TeaLady441

Laziness, or just the fact that you are BUSY with all the other sites you’re on too. :P (I basically dropped fb because of Steepster, but there are other places I am neglecting too.)

Ozli

Hahahaha GUILTY /o\

Midnight (Beastmaster) sipdown.

This tea smells so good. It’s more like caramel dry, and a bit like caramel cappuccino brewed. The flavour is sweet and creamy like vanilla caramels.

drank Crème Brulée by DAVIDsTEA

Last fall at the end of one of my posts I ended with “Please, sir, I want some more”, & then offered to send my xmas CD to the first person who guessed what movie it was a quote from. Michelle won!! I sent her the CD & some tea samples as a prize. About a month ago I got a surprise package in return, loaded with generous samples of tea & a cute little note wishing me a good day! Thanks Michelle!

So this tea is in there, & since I was looking around for one more ‘no caffeine’ cup to end my day, this one seemed like a perfect fit.
Since I’m allergic to milk, I’ve never had a creme brulee, but I’m wondering if I could make something like that with canned coconut milk…like an egg custard, topped with brown sugar, set under the broiler briefly…hmmm…of course, I don’t really eat brown sugar either…maybe some date sugar…

Ooops! I got off track into fantasy world. This is a tasty tea, it looks like a pretty little confetti, & in spite of the fine milling , I didn’t get any rooibos stuck on my tonsils, so it was a win.

graceatblb

The type of sugar doesn’t matter as long as you can torch it. I used date sugar for Christmas Creme Brulees this year and everyone loved it.

Terri HarpLady

Thanks Grace! That looks awesome!

Crowkettle

Mmmm, coconut creme brulee sounds even better than regular creme brulee.

graceatblb

You’re welcome. It’s my go-to holiday recipe for dessert.

Thanks ozli for keeping me supplied longer than I would have been otherwise. I hope to see this tea again next winter!

Completely off topic but I am teaching myself to knit and I think I just did my first row of purling. It sorta looks like my knit rows, but… I’ll keep going!

Sil

Uh pretty sure you can buy this on the website still….it was there and I almost ordered it last night

This oolong is still ridiculously awesome. On my oolong kick, so I decided to gongfu some of this tonight. Yes, it’s a bit late for caffeine, but I realized I haven’t drank this in ages and it’s already about 6 months old :( and I’ve also been crazy tired today even with caffeine so I doubt I’ll have trouble falling asleep. This tea is perfection. Tonight its silky smooth, cream, delicious, soothing. It’s helping my headache a bit too, and im currently lounging in the recliner with a pillow surrounding me and my tea and my boyfriend watching my bf work diligently on our lab. Night steepster! Oh, and see previous notes on this perfect tea. :)

This is my anti anxiety tea. The smell of cinnamon is very comforting. I’m not a huge fan of cinnamon but I still love this tea. It does not taste strong enough to make a good latte.

This was a sample I had received in one of the newsletters. It was just ok. Nice creamy, honey type flavor, but didn’t really do much for me. Didn’t bother steeping a second time.

try adding some honey and almond milk to make a ‘mate latte’. it’s delicous.. also, I use lemon or mint and drink it cold on hot days… love the good energy!

I’m drinking this tea as I type and I’m liking the mellowness. I have a feeling that I’ll prefer it with some vanilla soy milk, due to the fact that the vanilla flavor is very, very faint…it’s more of a straw"ish" note in my opinion, which I don’t mind. All in all I’m gonna drink this throughout the week and see whether I grow to adore it.

This is a Grab-and-Go tea bag. It will wake you up and keep you there for a while. As much as I like loose leaf teas, sometimes you got-to reach down and get some.

I have been educated on Irish Tea by a man straight from Ireland with strong opinions about tea. He told me he grew up on this stuff and loved it. He said they always had a pot ready for company. I bought a box and tried it. Not bad at getting me up and out of the door. Good flavor. I will pass it along to my friends.

Something about Numi tea makes me feel special. I feel proud walking out of the grocery store with a new box, then whenever I get to work the next day I show it off to my coworkers and make everyone sniff it, and they probably hate me. Anyways, I love this tea so much. When I first opened the packet, the first thing I noticed was how deep and luxurious the scent was, and I wanted to eat the bag. I didn’t do that however, and instead drank it like intended and enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s smooth, earthy, and overall yummy. I have yet to try it with soy milk which I intend to do soon.

All I can say about this tea is that it is a strong black tea. Nothing more, nothing less. Now that is plenty fine for me.
