drank Creamy Eggnog by Butiki Teas
6105 tasting notes

Made a delicious cup of this for my mom tonight. I think she may have finished the whole thing, so I’ll only get the second infusion, but that’s ok. She likes it, but definitely doesn’t think it tastes like eggnog (which is fine!). Just tasty and creamy. I think I’ll get away without leaving the rest of it here though, thankfully! She just really wants that Strawberry Oolong, so I’ll squirrel away a cup for myself, and leave the rest here…

I think that’s nice!

:) I’m excited – I bought her a nice infuser and tea timer/thermometer from DavidsTea for Christmas, too!

TassieTeaGirl

Aw, that’s a lovely gift! My other half and I did something similar for his parents – a giant steeper and some Caramel rooibos. I hope your mum likes her present – I love the timer/thermometer.

Brought nearly all my pu’erhs along for my mom to try, and we brewed this one up today! There were no brewing instructions, so I went with a couple chunks and a 20-second rinse in near-boiling water, and then a 2-minute infusion. The result was pretty good in my opinion, a little smoky, spicy, and tasty. My mom labelled it “grassy” and didn’t like it as much as the 2003 Banzhang Farmer’s Cooperative Sheng I left here with her in July. I’ll be fine with taking it home though, as it was tasty enough for me! Still not a big pu’erh fan though…

drank Banana Cheesecake Genmaicha by 52teas

Thanks Indigobloom!

This is an interesting blend. I really love the banana and cheesecake but the genmaicha is a little funny. I still enjoy it quite a bit….I’ve never had banana tea….and man I love me some banana!

Kittenna

I bought this one! Interested to try it when it gets here (eventually).

Indigobloom

It is… different! I’m hoping the cheesecake comes out a bit more if it sits for awhile

Picked up a small sample of this in my Verdant Black Friday order. I suspected I wouldn’t like it, but I can’t help my curiousity. Sure enough, blech. Too much mint for me, although the other flavours (I’m not sure exactly what I was picking up, but it was a bit spicy and herbalish) definitely improved it beyond a standard mint tea. However, my mom (who likes mint tea) really enjoyed it! I re-steeped it twice for her before throwing out the leaves, and will leave the rest of my packet (a cup left, I assume) for her to enjoy. I’m hoping to do this with a bunch of other teas I brought as well (i.e. brew up, let mom try, and leave with her if I don’t like it).

No rating from me; it’s mint, and mint is yucky.

you could have had a sample from mine! lol

Oh, that’s alright!! I thought my mom might like it, and I was right :)

ah glad she enjoyed it :)

drank Laoshan Black by Verdant Tea
6105 tasting notes

I’m down to only a cup’s worth (if that!) left of this. So sad. Brewed it up to see if I could convince my mom to like black tea, but no dice. She said it wasn’t bad, and definitely noticed the chocolatey flavour/aroma, but still wasn’t a bit fan. She also mentioned that it smelled or tasted like hay??

Anyways, I happily drank it up… while Christmas shopping :D

Yup, this one again. I added waaay too much cream but didn’t want to let the cup go to waste. Even weak you still can taste that lovely chocolatey goodness.

Now I’m afraid I’m cheating and going with something a bit stronger for a Friday night — hot chocolate with Baileys irish creme. Shhh…

Note to self: don’t make 2 thermos-fuls of tea next time you go to the airport, because it will turn out that by the time the tea cools enough to be drinkable, you’re already at the airport, and then you have to chug an entire litre of tea before going through security, because of course you can’t just dump absolutely delicious/perfectly good tea out!! True story. And yes, I drank all four cups worth of tea (2 of this and 2 of Cashew Turtle). Luckily, it seemed I was dehydrated anyhow.

Anyways! This was tasty in a thermos, no surprise. I even saved the once-used tea leaves in their infuser in a ziploc, and packed it in my checked bag, and re-steeped it today. Still tasty. Haha, I felt like an addict or something though.

Rose takes the forefront in this delicate tea. I’m not typically a huge fan of rose flavored things, but of course none have ever been as natural tasting as this.

The white tea lays a nice and sweet foundation for the other ingredients to play on. Another reviewer mentions mint, and to be honest I couldn’t really detect it on the first few times I brewed this tea, it’s very subtle.

I’m in love though, and I plan to get my hands on some more soon.

12 Days of Tea #8!

So I’m back on schedule with drinking these teas on the correct days. I was too busy for my roomie and I to do it together, so I ended up taking the box home for Christmas, and she will finish off trying things in the new year.

Anyhow, this was a tea I was quite excited about trying, as I had been sad that I missed out on sampling it when it came out, since it sold out rather quickly. Unfortunately(/fortunately?) I don’t think I’m a huge fan. I’ll admit that my tastebuds might be a touch wonky (as I’m currently suffering from an ill-timed holiday cold), but I just didn’t get as much chocolate flavour from this tea as I wanted. The dry tea smelled fudgey and delicious (and a bit alcoholic!), but the tea just didn’t live up – it was thin, and tasted too much of black tea base, and not enough of chocolate. It wasn’t bad or anything, but I definitely prefer Della Terra’s Dubbele Chocolade. So I suppose it’s ok that I didn’t pick this one up after all :)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who smelled a little alcohol here. Dubbele Chocolade seems to keep popping up. Must be good. :)

Kittenna

Yes, it’s the best chocolate-flavoured tea I’ve tried so far!

drank Eight Candles by Della Terra Teas

On the Eighth Day of Christmas, Della Terra Teas sent me this tea!

Oh yum. YUM YUM YUM! I love this tea. It is so good. Yes … vegans, I’m sorry, but these are real marshmallows and not vegan ones. But, trust me when I say that this tea is WORTH going off the vegan diet for one cuppa. But, be warned that one cuppa may soon turn into two, and two into three … This tea is that good.

I think I like this even better than the Dubbele Chocolade. Yes, this is DTerra’s BEST tea. YUM!

OH… here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2012/12/21/on-the-eighth-day-of-christmas-della-terra-teas-sent-to-me/

This is my favorite Della Terra Tea as well. Trying to convince them to keep it year round :)

Kittenna

Sweet! I should have some on its way here… hopefully….

This was my first experience with a Lapsang Souchong and I fell head over heels with the warm and deep smokey aroma. I could just sit and inhale this all day long (but then people would stare and my tea would get cold…)

I’ve dubbed this my favorite black tea so far and I personally enjoy this one over Adagio’s Lapsang Souchong.

drank Cocomint Cream by DAVIDsTEA

Ohhh this smells so good. My brother just got his wisdom teeth out today and I’m sure he could drink it, but he wants to just smell it. Creamy and minty, and just sweet enough. I got a decent amount.

As it cools it gets creamier. I really have no idea what else to note other than it’s creamy, minty, and totally awesome.

Reading over the past tasting notes, it seems like you either love or hate this particular tea.

I love the woodsy and warm taste of this tea. Totally a morning or early afternoon drink. It reminds me of the bonfire we had every year at a Masquerade function I always went to. Good times.

It’s not as good as the Spice and Tea Exchange Lapsang Souchong, in my opinion, a three minute steeping time left a weaker and more astringent taste. I plan to perhaps use slightly more tea and a two minute steep time next time I make a pot of this.

drank Pumpkin Spice by Adagio Teas
4843 tasting notes

The artisan who makes my soap sent me a sachet of this tea along with my last order of soap. She used to be one of my very best tea customers when I sold tea. :) It is nice that she thought of me and included some tea with my order!

I don’t hate this as much as it would appear most of Steepster does. Then again, after having gone round and round with the black tea base of Adagio, I have learned a thing or two when it comes to steeping their flavored black teas. A slightly lower temperature (just below boiling) and steeping for 3 minutes (or even just 2 1/2 minutes) produces a pleasant cup. Oh… and let it cool a few minutes before taking that first sip. About three or four minutes will do it. It tames the astringency significantly. It still is certainly not the best cup of tea I’ve ever had, but I’m not hating it either. It’s agreeable.

The pumpkin flavor here IS odd, though. It tastes artificial. The spices are nice, but, the pumpkin just tastes off.

Overall, it’s alright. Not something I’d buy, but, more than that, I’m very happy with the thoughtfulness of my dear friend, the soap artisan, and I truly appreciate her thoughtfulness.

Thank you Indigobloom!

I’m glad for the chance to try this, though I’m going to side with the “meh” side. It’s nice enough but not quite what I expected. I have to say as it cools off the apricot comes out even more and I like it more. It just not quite cake like.

Indigobloom

it’s a finicky one that’s for sure. I’ve gotten “cakiness” one out of four cups!

drank Ceylon Supreme by Dilmah

At first I was really glad that I started the morning with this tea because it’s aromatic and had the sweetness of fruits. But as I continued to drink, my mouth got increasingly dry, and I realized that it was a very astringent tea. There’s no bitterness though. It’s a tea of good quality, it’s just that I didn’t enjoy astringent tea much.

drank Cookie Dough by DAVIDsTEA

After a disastrous attempt at steeping a tea that was supposed to taste like chocolate, I brewed up a cup of this and hoped for better results.

This was lovely. Without milk, this had a nice, creamy texture. I had a bit of trouble finding the chocolate and I know this might sound odd, but I think I was looking for it a bit too hard? Because when I zoned out and took a sip, there it was in the aftertaste.

A very pleasant and light in all the right ways tea!
