I’m more than willing to pay a little more for tea somewhere if it’s prepared the way I like it by someone else because that says a lot. For example, the closest place (that I’m currently aware of) I can get matcha sells it for $2.50, but it’s so good there!

Well $2.50 for matcha is a pretty decent price in my opinion. I mean a packet of Rishi’s matcha is about $2. An ounce of matcha is close to $20 at some places.

Yeah Rishi’s (which the one at the cafe was actually) is way over priced.

@Cofftea, what’s the best cheap (under $20/oz) matcha you’ve tried?

Bethany, O-cha’s Kiri no Mori and Den’s Tea’s Kaze are both excellent. But hands down is 52teas mandarin matcha which unfortunately is sold out. I do not like anything banana flavored, but even I have high hopes for the rumored banana matcha coming from them (hopefully soon).

Wow, I think our tongues must be polar opposites…I like the mandarin matcha (I bought the last 2 packs) but it’s quite bitter and not as sweet or good as some of the other brands I’ve tried. I bought it because it’s cheap and tastes interesting, and I mostly mix it in my hot cocoa.

Shanti, you bought 2 right away? That’s a brave move! I; however don’t taste the bitterness at all. I also don’t compare it to other brands because it’s flavored and I haven’t tried any other flavored matchas.

I agree Rishi’s was very overpriced. I enjoyed my O-cha’s matcha a lot more.

I’ll have to give Den’s a try sometime. What! Shantea bought the last two packs!?!? That’s evil! I was hoping to get one from the groundhog day sale!

I think the Mandarin Matcha tastes “good” in that it has the interesting orange flavor, but it’s more bitter than some of the other matchas I’ve tried. I don’t know if I’d recommend it over something like Kiri no Mori.

Yeah she’s such a hoarder! LOL I can say that Shanti, because when I bought mine I would have bought all 7 that were left at the time if I had the $. LOL. Enjoy them! And make some for your friends!:) I made some for a friend and she loved it.

Well one is a flavored matcha and one is a plain =P It’s like apples and oranges!

I can’t imagine a matcha more sweeter than Mandarin… I think that’d almost make me sick.

LOL! I know!!! I’m horrible :) now I have a whole box of those Adagio loose leaf samples that need to be tried for the first time, AND a bunch of g-d matcha! DAMN YOU SHANTEA!!!

Oh…it’s a different sweetness. As in, sweeter, creamier, and less bitter—not fructose like the mandarin evokes.
