Woah! This is an interesting tea. Unflavored blacks always amaze me when it’s complex and rich with flavors. I’ve never seen black tea leaves that were so long and uncurled (straight). Although the leaves had a dull black coat, they clearly stood up with its matte finish. I don’t know about you, but I was amazed by the leaves. I was getting a honey smell from the leaves. Strange. The wet leaves smelled more like the tea itself, cocoa and a burnt firewood burning or campfire smell. It reminds me of hojicha, but a black tea version of it. Taking my first sip, I was like WOAH!?!? I didn’t know whether I liked it or loved it. I clearly didn’t hate it. The taste really reminds me of hojicha due to the burnt tingly aftertaste you get from it. Some sips you get the honey, some sips you get the cocoa. It’s a complicated tea and honestly, you should just try it for yourself. I could probably go on talking about it, but I think this is a worthy investment for those black tea lovers.
The Simple Leaf, well done. This is my first tea from you guys and I will be sure to purchase some tea from you in the near future. Your teas are so simple, yet so complex. Well that’s a bit of a generalization seeing as I’ve only had one of your teas. But! The name of this tea, Dawn, it’s four characters…. so simple, yet so complicated. Great tea!
I have to thank Erin for sending me some of this wonderful tea to sample. Thanks Erin! =] Loved it!
