Picking off from yesterday, where I had finally caught up in my queue! Today I just have what I drank yesterday, and what I’m drinking now so I’ll be done by the end of my shift here at Calendar Club.
This was my “energy boost” cold brew choice yesterday, it had the usual juicy orange (4012) and pineapple (4433) taste to it, but the papaya (3112) in it, which is usually more of an underlying flavour, was very forefront and bold. It was a beautiful, delicious switch up the way this normally tastes. But honestly I barely got to touch it yesterday! My shift at Sobeys was SUPER short: only just over two hours. But that’s because it was the day before the Grand Opening, and there wasn’t any cleaning or prep left to do. Instead, the entire staff was there (all approx. 250 of us – probably more), and we just went on a super detailed, fancy tour. They took us section by section and explained what about that section separates us from comparable sections in other stores.
Best part? There was free samples in each section! So I got paid to eat – and eat well. We had Veggie Spring Rolls, Italian Pomegranate (3440) Soda, Mango (4959) Sorbet Smoothie, Strawberry/Banana (4011) Smoothie, Balsamic Vinegar Coated Organic Tomato (94064) Cubes, Deep Dish Chicago Style Pizza, Mini Cannolies, Cucumber (4593)/Avacado (4224) sushi rolls, some kind of fancy cheddar, Shortbread/Mascarpone Cheese tarts with Raspberry topping, Popped Corn (4078) Chips/Wafers, and chocolate dipped Rice Krispie treats. And then non-vegetarians also had this Maple Salmon and Steak Cubes, but I passed on those two.
Then they gave us a “pep talk” for tomorrow’s (well, today’s) grand opening and, as we left, these huge “Swag bags” of groceries! It was easily $100 in groceries; things like candy, salad dressings, bags of Gourmet pasta, a lot of Jamie Oliver stuff (Sobeys is partnered with him), chocolate pretzels, cans of vegetables, Italian soda, and a fair bit of other stuff. Damn I love Sobeys!
…jealous. You’re making me miss working in a grocery store XD
STOP! You make me so hungry. Lol. Sounds like an awesome place to work. Our groceries her suck to work at because they are all union.
Oh, that’s so great! XD All the foods!
