15662 Tasting Notes
Mmm…
This tea tasted like coming home. Which of course is weird because there’s not really anything about smoky Lapsang or pineapples that particularly makes me think of home. It’s just that both of those flavours are just highly comforting and safe feeling for me – and this is a perfect combination of these two very well paired and personally beloved tastes. Just the best waxy golden pineapple!
Cold Brew!
Not as cucumber forward as I’ve tasted in the past but still highly nostalgic and familiar tasting with that lovely mix of different sweet tangy red fruit and citrus notes and the undertone of sweet ripe tomato. It’s just a fruity umami explosion and one of the most unique herbal blends that I own. Revisiting really hit the spot. I’m definitely noticing a trend in some of my tea making the last few weeks (this one in particular) where I’m leaning towards more bright fruity or crisp vegetal notes that sort of signal a change in season for me. It’s maybe, kind of, sort of starting to be Spring…
Steeped this up during an evening a couple nights ago but I felt like the taste was a little jumbled and non descript. There’s a fruity, almost strawberry, aroma on the nose of the dry leaf but the actual brewed tea was more herbaceous with some of that moringa green bitterness and a little cinnamon. Not a clear direction, but not a half bad flavour either.
Steeped this one up yesterday but it just tasted incredibly off. Very acrid and sour orange notes mixed with smoke that just felt really cacophonous and so distant from what I remember it normally tasting like.
Cold Brew!
One of my favourite tea name puns. Ever.
This tea is so close to being perfect. It’s that delicious sweet banana runt flavour complimented with a hint of creaminess, nuttiness, and maple. The only downside is that the finish does taste distinctly of chamomile in that off putting sort of musty way that I just do not like chamomile. I know a lot of people love it, but I’m simply not one of them. I can’t decide if making it hot would bring out more or less chamomile so I’ll probably try it that way just to see.
It’s sort of a no win situation though – the pun that this tea was so clearly inspired by and that I love so much kind of relies in a sleep related ingredient like chamomile… which happens to be the one thing I didn’t like about it. Bleck.
Sipped on this one yesterday morning and it made for a pleasantly sweet and soothing minty herbaceous gentle start to the day. It always saddens me that this tea didn’t resonate with people. I know it’s more of a spearmint tea than a sage one, but it’s just so nice.
Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Drinking this one currently. I woke up craving lemon with just a little bit of kick and how much more perfect of a fit is this tea!? I will say though, I ended up with a smidge more kick than expected. The pepper is usually very tame in this tea, but I guess I just got a especially spicy scoop! Not a complaint; I think you have to expect spice with a name like Lemon Cayenne Cleanse and I’ve noted in the past that the presence of spices can definitely very from cup to cup though it likes to hover on the milder side.

Iced Tea!
I usually drink this one hot because I find it’s a subtle and gentle enough blend to strike a really perfect balance of being flavourful but still soothing. So, I was marginally taken aback when I found this iced tea so particularly saturated tasting. I mean, not the level of some other DT blends like say Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait – but just much more than I’m personally used to with this tea. More distinctly orange tasting too. I mean, it always tastes like orange to me but I thought this infusion in particular was orange first and then everything else. Still liked it, though!

Cold Brew!
Nothing hits better than that first sip of a tea you’ve been craving for a really long time, and as I sipped this delicious punchy sweet peach ginger blend I couldn’t help but feel like every sip was giving that same impactful feeling of just being so satisfied. I had been craving this one for a couple straight days and I just could not find the tin of it. Definitely a tea hoarder problem, ahaha…
So the pay off was just so good when I finally did.

Gongfu!
Sipped on this first pu’erh from the Tiger Box a couple days ago. for my afternoon session! It’s a rather stem heavy tea, but among the many stems are large beautiful leaves! Early on the session had a slight snap of sweet citrus to it, but quickly settled into a calmer and more consistent greener leaning profile. Still a hint of fruitiness alongside a light astringency – like lemongrass, in a few ways, and peach skins in others. Mostly I tasted a simple but distinct woodiness and a almost creamy bit of pandan. It’s not hooking me in so immediately the way many of my favourite sheng have, but I’m finding it very grounding and with a mild enough flavour to allow easily a more contemplative session.
