Oh boy, this isn’t for the faint at heart. It smells like a ginger explosion and tastes of ginger-scented fire. It lingers on your tongue way after you’ve drunk the last sip. I love this, it’s exactly what I was looking for.
I discovered tea about two years ago, on a stormy night somewhere between benchmark 10,000 and 10,100 when I was trying to wrap up the first chapter of my dissertation (which ended up being 40K words – ludicrous, I know). I had to do something to distract me from the obvious – I was slowly but steadily losing my soul and personality in academia. I made a cup of Twinings Earl Grey (teabag) and was surprised to find it not only tasty but comforting.
I’ve come a long way since. I don’t drink Twinings anymore (though please enjoy your cup if you do) and left academia to face The Real World armed with a mug full of loose Mariage Freres Pleine Lune tea (yay!). My whole life I’ve been surrounded with coffee drinkers (love the smell, can handle the taste but twice a year) and it took me a while indeed to figure out that all tea wasn’t born Lipton lemon and wasn’t heated up in a microwave.
I’m very new to the tea drinking world but I’m nothing if not a perpetual learner and I look forward to this new adventure on Steepster!
