I am trying this tea for the first time.
The loose leaf tea contains small sugar crystals, which makes it nice to look at. The scent is noticeably cherry without being overpowering. When brewed, the tea has a light flavor, but not dull like some other decaffeinated teas can be. The flavor profile is there, but on the delicate side. A bit of milk in the tea is nice as well.
24 Tasting Notes
I am drinking this one again in the afternoon. The salty flavor helps cut the sweetness of a snack I had just previously. The flavor this time has kind of been lost behind the edge of the salted-leaf. Next time I will try a lower temperature.
Deep and rich, satisfying with or after a meal.

I am trying this tea for the first time, using water just off the boil.
My first impression is that it’s quite different. I can understand why it has such wildly different review scores: there is an undercurrent of salted cherry three leaves that is quite different, and can be puzzling if you haven’t tasted them before. For me, the saltiness does indeed provide a clean taste, as described by Lupicia. It’s not my favorite flavored green tea, but it is a nice one nonetheless.
I haven’t been posting much lately, life certainly has a way of getting in the way.
I really can’t say enough about this tea. An excellent sencha for the price. It always hits the right spot.
A full-bodied, deep-steamed sencha from Lupicia. The flavor is complex and has a thickness to it, but is still refreshing. Normally I like light-steamed or medium-steamed green teas, but this one is very good, too.
Merry Christmas!
A very delicate sencha to sit and be thoughtful with.
It’s been a while since I have drank this (I have been consuming other teas that have been building up in the cupboard). Like putting on a soft, broken-in shoe, this tea means comfort!
いもくりかぼ茶が大好き! This tea has such a nice warm, sweet, nutty flavor. Not candy-sweet, but starchy-sweet, like sweet potatoes (pieces of which are scattered throughout the tea). It brings to mind fallen acorns, crispy-golden leaves, the earthy scent and senses of autumn.
My first time trying this sencha from Lupicia. The tea is a deep green color with a nice amount of matter in the bottom of the cup (not too much, not too little). The tea is grassy with a full, round, mellow flavor.
Delicious and warming on an overcast day.
Mild, grassy, delicate. A great tea for sipping while relaxing in a quiet moment.
A softer flavor this time, rounder. Warm-grassy, compared to a sharp-grassy. Still very good.
Usually I don’t like flavored green teas, but I have been very happy with what Lupicia has available. This Tsugaru Green tea has just the right aroma and flavor of apples from the Tsugaru region of Aomori, Japan. The green tea base is not bitter nor bland, neither does it overwhelm the fruit. The flavor is slightly tart but not overwhelmingly so. I like it a lot.
I like this tea very much. The jasmine aroma and flavor are very present, but not overpowering, and the green tea is not bitter or metallic (which has happened in some jasmine green teas I have tried). A very soothing combination.
Autumn is here, and my favorite tea is once again in my cupboard. Sweet and nutty and mellow, the flavors and warmth of fall.

The vanilla is a warm flavor, earthy rather than sugary-sweet. Very nice, and I bet it would mix well with other teas. Tried with a little bit of milk.
The fragrance of the dried leaves is very sweet and reminds me of a little-on-the-cold-side Autumn afternoon, walking in a park or a forest with fallen leaves. Generally I don’t brew green teas with boiling water, but the vendor suggests doing just that. Doing so, I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. The tea base does not taste scorched or bitter at all, and the chestnut pieces add a buttery sweetness to the overall drink. This tea is very calming and relaxing.
Trying a full cup now. Again, the temperature is a little lower than what the vendor recommends. The is a soft roundness to the flavor, followed by a slightly sharp grassy finish. A deeper aroma, rather than “bright” of a light-steamed sencha. I definitely think this would be better with savory foods or a meal, compared to sweets or desserts with a light-steamed sencha.
A little nutty, a warm flavor. I drink this in the evenings when I am working but don’t want the caffeine to keep me awake.
I brewed this tea a little cooler than what is recommended by the vendor. My first impression is that the tea has a deeper, richer flavor than other senchas I have tried. I think it would be really good with heavier foods, rather than a light sweet.
I really like this sencha. It is quite easy to make (as long as you mind the temperature), and a second steep is also very flavorful.
