341 Tasting Notes
thank you moraiwe! you sent an awesome box and i let my sister immediately select an herbal tea to share :)
it’s a yummy enough tea, if not strangely ….. oily?
it’s got an oil film goin’ on. you know the kind. but what’s not to ENJOY about an herbal tea with No rooibos in it?!? hah
also plus chocolate. also plus caramel. didn’t really get a bunch of sea salt. but adding salt to caramel is the hip thing these days isn’t it. totally acceptable.
now…
let’s be honest. british television writes women WAY BETTER than any american show ever has. like. ever.
it’s so embarrassing.

oh snap i’m probably speaking too soon but think i found my butiki green.
the dry leaves smell super duper. and the taste is cozy nutty and a little vanilla smoothness. it’s like it’s IN the tea leaves though. ya know? just a whole new creature.
i did two steepings of course.
thanks so much Shelley_Lorraine! i have enough for a second cup and very pro packaging too!
okay. sigh. i just had to write this here because this is where i come to say everything i wanna say.
and i wanna say that i just ordered a long navy silk robe online.
it will be perfect for tea drinking.
della terra,
you make the most wonderful chocolate teas. i don’t care if they all kinda taste the same because it is the exactly chocolate tea that i will love forever. i am forever in your debt.

omg somebody stop me i can’t possibly justify buying any sherlock cosplay stuff. no matter how comfy it sounds to me to walk around DragonCon in a navy satin robe. just no!
and i CERTAINLY can’t justify those sherlock teacups shipped from the UK. nuh uh.
i need to get out of this seat and go run 10 miles. if i keep procrastinating i’m not gonna be home until 11pm or something hah.
oh today.
i have more of this tea. so i’ll give it more chances.
i suspect i just had too high an expectation going in. (kinda like star trek 2) i’m sure i’ll love the second brewing of fresh leaves better. but right now i’m on the second steep of this cup and i’m wanting to love it more than i do. it’s possible blueberries in tea just aren’t really my thing. it’s subtle, don’t get me wrong. and i love the color of this tea. curiously murky. thank you Shelley_Lorraine.
let’s go to the gym now shall we?
you know what is a great idea, distracting yourself from a pile of work with a little compulsive shopping on etsy!
i ordered two vintage tea cups & saucers this morning.

(one for john and one for sherlock) (i’m totally making fun of myself there)
gently dark and sweet and subtle.
i will say i think the second steep worked out WAY better for me than the first. i didn’t even time the second one. but man this is delicious.
i definitely get the peachy oak in this second go. mmm
thank you again Shelley_Lorraine
TastyBrew sent me this and then i drank it!
okay okay okay
i’ve been drinking lots of swap samples but i’m much too busy to make proper notes about each at the moment (hopefully i’ll get to it this weekend), BUT i just needed to take a moment because i MUST say that this tea smells awe-sum! and i think i got lucky and brewed it perfect! lots of sweet vanilla and green in the nose, just a nice polite green tea with a tiniest hint of vanilla mellowing it out in the mouth.
thank you Shelley_Lorraine this cup definitely brightened my day a little.
onto the second steep!

what a fruity way to start the day! and jeez do i need it.
(start work rant) my boss is on vacation and my office counter part is out sick. so i am all alone and deadlines are quickly approaching. i CANNOT POSSIBLY get everything done that i need to.
sigh.
i have moments of motivation followed by a feeling of defeat. and i can’t seem to stay focused.
being so busy also means i don’t have time to really write tea notes as i would like to. but i am tasting all the swap samples! it’s something to look forward to while i am feeling downtrodden. (end work rant!)
i like the scent of the brewed tea a lot and the cup was very easy to drink. i have the leaves saved at home for a second steep! and i’m looking forward to it.
thank you Shelley_Lorraine! thank you.
a dark oolong that is still so light? it’s so mellow. which is a nice way of saying it’s bland but in a good way :)
i wish i was feeling more talkative than that.
but until then… thank you for sharing this tea Shelley_Lorraine!
oh fuzzy little leaves. cute like kittens.
i just don’t think i’m refined enough for Silver Needles yet. they are just so light. i can DEFINITELY smell and taste the jasmine here, which is very peaceful and comforting. but i’m not much for picking out any nuances with these fairy wing light teas.
it won’t stop me from drinking and enjoying though!!
thanks TastyBrew!
Oo Oo Oo what a treat!!! thanks so much Shelley_Lorraine you are a mystery box pro.
i think you started a trend. you are ahead of your time.
it’s a beautiful tea and smells fresh and shiny. i’m a person who easily likes cilantro. and basil too. i think basil can go in anything. i made this as a very tiny cup. in my gongfu. and did a second steep. so basically i saved the little rest of the bit for tomorrow :)

i have one big second steep of this tea left. it’s sitting at home smack dab in the middle of the counter. waiting for me.
i had it for pre-breakfast tea today too.
i love the blend. milder than some other breakfast teas but very appropriate. somehow it tastes kinda timeless. or it makes me think of timelessness? like how things can sometimes feel connected even if they are miles or years or worlds away?
i’d say that’s the sign of a good cup, wouldn’t you?
thanks for the existential crisis Sil!
hey hey hey i enjoyed this!
i mean, maybe i wished it was a little mintier, sure.
but i also with i was real life friends with watson & holmes.
it has a nice mild kinda warm and minty flavor. and i wasn’t super rooibosed out by it.
thank you whatshesaid for giving me more than one tea bag so this easygoing cup can endure!
well i told myself i wasn’t going to let my tasting notes get away from me. but it’s gone and happened again anyways.
i sure can drink a lot faster than i can write about them.
i was SO LAZY yesterday! and i vowed to taper my caffeine off earlier in the day than i usually do, so from my little caffeine-free pile came this tea!
already in a tea bag easy peasy.
nothing to write home about, but not an annoying tea by any means.
i just let the tea bag be lazy right along with me.
thank you whatshesaid!!
i’m watching teen wolf. the entire season in one day basically. watching that much tv in one day is something akin to eating nothing but cake for a day. but i watched it in a half ass way at least, and fondled my teas the rest of the day. multitasking!
also
i should probably buy some more decaf blacks cuz this is a nice option. bye bye rooibos. whatevs.
oh no. now that i have tasted matcha lattes … i can’t ever un-taste them. their deliciousness will forever haunt me!
an overcast day and lots of lounging around and doing lazy chores at home.
i’ve been feeling particularly lost these days. (i thought it was the cold weather that was inducing a certain melancholy but i guess not) a cup like this is the comfort a soft soul needs. it’s such an amazing treat!
omg how will i ever choose which flavors to buy?
thank you thank you thank you whatshesaid.
