545 Tasting Notes
i had my first CTC tea today! i had two of them and this one was my immediate favorite.
i feel like i say i’m ‘putting something on my shopping list’ often. and kinda mostly mean it.
but for this tea i entirely mean it. i’m a person who likes lapsang. and puerh. and dark funk teas. for example i’m a stout beer gal. i like it strong and when it bites back. not exclusively. but i think it says something about my preferences. and this tea was like smooth melty blackness.
brew time 1 min? not for me. if i remember correctly, i steeped for 2.
thank you Sil!
oh snap i’m probably speaking too soon but think i found my butiki green.
the dry leaves smell super duper. and the taste is cozy nutty and a little vanilla smoothness. it’s like it’s IN the tea leaves though. ya know? just a whole new creature.
i did two steepings of course.
thanks so much Shelley_Lorraine! i have enough for a second cup and very pro packaging too!
okay. sigh. i just had to write this here because this is where i come to say everything i wanna say.
and i wanna say that i just ordered a long navy silk robe online.
it will be perfect for tea drinking.
you make the most wonderful chocolate teas. i don’t care if they all kinda taste the same because it is the exactly chocolate tea that i will love forever. i am forever in your debt.
thank you Sil!
i remember liking it. i mean, hello, caramel! how could i not?!
but i suspect i’m getting green tea burn out.
i feel a strange amount of responsibility to review every single swap tea in as much detail as i can muster. but i’m realizing it’s just not going to be humanly possible. because even though i tell everyone how much more time i spend on here than on any other site and also that i love tea drinking so very much, i simply don’t have the time. i just don’t.
it’s a bummer. but i have limitations. pouty face.
Sil is a classy lady, so i’m sure she will forgive me for drinking this tea almost 7 days ago and not writing about it and basically forgetting my thoughts on it, but at least i remember that i did indeed enjoy it.
and i meant to write notes days ago but really, i’ve been too busy, what with watching all of Merlin and reading mountains of awesome fanfic in the sun until i got sunburn and then drinking wine til 2am after running miles and miles in the local cemetery. (i run in the cemetery cuz it has lots of hills). just too busy i say!
i know you do.
omg somebody stop me i can’t possibly justify buying any sherlock cosplay stuff. no matter how comfy it sounds to me to walk around DragonCon in a navy satin robe. just no!
and i CERTAINLY can’t justify those sherlock teacups shipped from the UK. nuh uh.
i need to get out of this seat and go run 10 miles. if i keep procrastinating i’m not gonna be home until 11pm or something hah.
i have more of this tea. so i’ll give it more chances.
i suspect i just had too high an expectation going in. (kinda like star trek 2) i’m sure i’ll love the second brewing of fresh leaves better. but right now i’m on the second steep of this cup and i’m wanting to love it more than i do. it’s possible blueberries in tea just aren’t really my thing. it’s subtle, don’t get me wrong. and i love the color of this tea. curiously murky. thank you Shelley_Lorraine.
let’s go to the gym now shall we?
you know what is a great idea, distracting yourself from a pile of work with a little compulsive shopping on etsy!
i ordered two vintage tea cups & saucers this morning.
(one for john and one for sherlock) (i’m totally making fun of myself there)
gently dark and sweet and subtle.
i will say i think the second steep worked out WAY better for me than the first. i didn’t even time the second one. but man this is delicious.
i definitely get the peachy oak in this second go. mmm
thank you again Shelley_Lorraine
TastyBrew sent me this and then i drank it!
i’m not sensitive enough to be able to tell much about a silver needle tea.
but what’s not to like about a silver needle tea?!
it’s easy to love!
okay okay okay
i’ve been drinking lots of swap samples but i’m much too busy to make proper notes about each at the moment (hopefully i’ll get to it this weekend), BUT i just needed to take a moment because i MUST say that this tea smells awe-sum! and i think i got lucky and brewed it perfect! lots of sweet vanilla and green in the nose, just a nice polite green tea with a tiniest hint of vanilla mellowing it out in the mouth.
thank you Shelley_Lorraine this cup definitely brightened my day a little.
onto the second steep!
twig tea! i definitely get it!
and not super grassy for that reason. but still very greeney fresh.
i’ll try to make sure my sister drinks the rest with me. i think it will help give her an appreciation of more greens.
thanks very much Shelley_Lorraine!
