744 Tasting Notes
i’ve also been saving this sample from KallieBoo! for a while now, and today turned out to be the perfect day to drink it.
the slight vanilla notes make a chai even better for me. kinda mellows things out around the edges. a friendlier chai. plus the bonus of no caffeine. the sky is full of clouds and i’ve felt a chill all day. in my second cup i added a bit of half & half, just to really turn the comfort factor up to 11.
this past weekend i hiked Old Rag here in Virginia. it’s a pretty famous hike. tina fey mentions it in her book for instance. and let me tell you, it’s hard. i’m still sore. and it was an awesome day. i drank some green tea on the summit.
i freakin love Cara McGee’s lapsang blends. she just goes for it. balls out bold. and how accurate for the brash, aggressive, and charming Tony.
remember, i am the person who pushes Cara’s Smaug tea blend on everyone, so take that into consideration. but i suspect that i will always think that lapsang and ginger make an excellent blend. The Apothecary said that her bag wasn’t lapsangy enough. but mine has a good balance. the ginger is mild, but i get a nice bit of lapsang on the nose. the blend still has a steady foot in “black tea” territory. overall, smells INTENSE but is really really easy to drink. i bet it’s gonna go fast out of my cupboard.
(when i opened the bag that first time, my roommate was all “i can smell it from over here wowza”)
at this point, the only teas i buy from adagio are Cara’s lapsang blends. and the fact that she makes them for my fandoms, and they are perfect for sipping all winter long while i read mega piles of hawt Avengers fic, is really just a bonus. a really really special awesomesauce bonus.
i got this sample from moraiwe! and i’ve been saving it a long time.
i figured it was gonna be quite the experience, so i wanted to enjoy it at the right moment.
but actually, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. i had expected a big one-two sweet and salty punch i guess. but heck the flavor still okay and i’ll totally drink it up. it’s just not as bold as i had hoped for hah.
then again, i know that level of boldness could have easily been mega gross. but eh, i’m a gamblin girl.
How much Candy Corn is too much Candy Corn?
okay okay what i meant to say is, i just ordered like $150 worth of tea from a few different companies cuz my stash is finally running low! it’s very exciting. i’ve learned so much about tea through all the awesome samples so many of you have shared with me over the year. So now that i have room for more tea in my cupboard, it’s great to be able to confidently buy teas i know i will enjoy immensely!
idk where this tea bag came from, lingering in the bottom of a drawer in the kitchen. but it was preserved nicely. and brews rather well.
it’s true, the scent you get when you tear open this tea bag’s packaging is pretty good. and the taste is pretty okay too.definitely not sucky considering it probably came from a grocery store.
i had a kinda zany morning. and i’m definitely too hyper to be around people. i’m gonna put on some modern classical and try to hideout.
this tea bag was in the back of our cupboard at home. no idea how long it was there or where it came from. i know this is probably obvious but basically there are so many chais that are so much better than this one. so just drink those, and leave this one at the supermarket ok? i mean, it’s not even awful, but really, just trust me on this.
i’m getting down to the point where i have almost no more sample or swap teas to try. and all the ones i do have left are herbal.
that is pretty amazing.
but all it means is that i can spend lots of time planning and day dreaming about what tea i’m gonna buy when i have the space!
i got this rooibos to use in a personalized sherlock inspired tea i made for myself.
it’s not offensive. it’s not really anything. i gulped it down and it was gone. sluurp.
