Sencha Fuka-midori from Den's Tea
84
Dong Ding Oolong from Zhi Tea
92
Buttered Cinnamon Raisin Toast Flavored Black Tea from 52teas
Fukamushi-Sencha Yame from Den's Tea
86
Houjicha Gold (Roasted Bancha) from Den's Tea
83

This is like the wuyi of Japanese tea. Super duper toasty! There was also quite a bit of creaminess to it, which surprised me.

Sencha (Pyramid Tea Bag) from Den's Tea
84

This is the first tea I tried from my $3 starter box from Den’s.
And.. I am definitely buying from them again =D
This tea was highly enjoyable!! Why do I seem to like Japanese greens more than Chinese..? I swear I have no bias even though I’ve been studying the language for 3 years!

Lemon Grass Genmaicha Chai from Yogic Chai
92
Four Seasons from Samovar
86

And this is why I like oolong.
Thanks Meghann!!!!!

Zhong Shu Hu Oolong Tea from Tea from Taiwan
78

It wasn’t great this time, there was hardly any flavor =( I remember really enjoying it! Maybe I didn’t store it well, for a while I just had it in a stapled bag. I guess I’ll have to bump the rating down a bit.

Pearl of Fruits from ESP Emporium
85
Sweet Dew Gan Lu from Tea Trekker
89
Butter Truffle from ESP Emporium
82

This is one of the weirdest smelling things I have smelled (that smelled good). I don’t even know what it was that I was smelling. This is nice and spicy, though without sweetener it didn’t taste as good.

Lung Ching - Grade No. 1 from Joy's Teaspoon
79
Osmanthus Oolong (Rare Tea Collection) from The Republic of Tea
87
Man Tang Xiang from Tea Trekker
89

I finally made my way over to Tea Trekker! (which involved falling waist deep into a snow bank)
I mean, how likely is it that there is an expert tea store in your town?? They go to China to buy all the teas!
I spoke with Bob about the teas I like (Da Hong Pao, Shui Xian, Tie Kwan Yin, Taiwan oolongs, but not Bai Hao, black, or white teas so much). I really have been wanting to get into green teas, so Bob recommended me this as a good transition from oolong to green.
I really like this tea – it is strong like an oolong but you can really taste the differences. This is great, and it tastes so fresh! It’s slightly bitter/astringent, but I actually kind of like it – it’s something that will probably grow on me (unlike astringent oolongs!!)

Big Red Robe from California Tea House
85
Zingiber Ginger Coconut from Teavana
85

Wow, I’m really impressed. I’ve never had a rooibos tea before that really surprised me, until this one! It’s spicy and coconutty and I love it!! I’m glad to see that they still sell it on their website.. I need more of this!
Thanks Meghann!

Flower of Asia (Mango) from ESP Emporium
83

This is a nice, somewhat typical fruity blend of tea. The oolong base isn’t as good as others I’ve had, but the tea is still enjoyable.

Samurai Chai Mate & White Ayurvedic Chai Blend from Teavana
85
Orange Cookie from ESP Emporium
84

I picked this tea because I needed like 4 more dollars for free shipping – and I’m glad I did. I always think I’m not going to like orange flavored things but this was fantastic. It’s dessert tea!

Amanatsu (Sweet Summer Tangerine) Oolong from Lupicia
89

Wow, this is the 2nd lupicia tea I’ve had and I can just say this… their oolongs are SUPER AWESOME. I mean, this is like top quality here. I barely even taste the tangerine – I could just drink this as a green oolong. =O! I need to buy more of their teas, me liking oolong and all…
Thanks Meghann!!

Tea of Inquiry from The Republic of Tea
84
Organic Eagle Nest Ever Drop from LeafSpa Organic Tea
82

I’m not a huge green tea drinker but I really do want to learn more about them. This was an enjoyable tea but not really that memorable.

Mango-Sencha from ESP Emporium
86

I knew I needed to add a mango tea to my permanent collection! My bar harbor tea company one is running a little low.
This tastes very similar, I am happy to say! The green tea base is excellent for the flavor – the taste is smooth and buttery. This is also similar to American Tea Room’s Immortal Green, which I might have misplaced?!

Profile

Bio

My favorite teas are high mountain, Wuyi, and dancong oolongs. I also need my deep steamed sencha every now and then. I’m not totally into flavoreds but I’m always up for interesting flavors (like ATR’s Nirvana and Toasted Fig). My favorite natural flavors are roasted and floral.

I have a BA in Biochemistry from Smith College with a minor in Japanese
Currently attending KGI (Keck Graduate Institute) for a Master of Bioscience

I love J-R&B and J-Urban and used to do a radio show on WOZQ Northampton, MA
I play both WoW (Airine on Executus) and LoL (Airine)
