1237 Tasting Notes
Fantastic. It is not afternoon here but I don’t care. I smelled this one and I knew I had to give it a try. Thank you to Victoria of the Ta Fairy Brigade for the sample. The dry aroma reminded me of an Icewine black tea I bought in Canada once. The wet aroma is fruity, cranberry, elderberry, and dark cherry. Slightly woody. The woody notes come through more in the flavor. There is also a hint of dark chocolate but mainly the flavors revolve around the fruit. Tart fruits, not overly sweet. The vanilla is present when the aroma of the liquor comes close to your nose but otherwise, I find it not to be a strong presence. A slight bit of astringency as well.
I love rice Krispy treats. But not the ones you get in stores. No offense but I find them disgusting. The ones you make in home. Those are where it’s at. Can’t really say this reminds me of either of them. The marshmallows they used are nice, sweet but not artificial tasting. The base black tea has a nice woody flavor with bits of chocolate.
Well, this is surprising. There is no dairy. It smells of chocolate in the dry leaves. The hot aroma is of milk chocolate bunnies. But not that expensive kind. The generic ones. The flavor is decent. Somewhat woodsy with chocolate notes. I think they would have been better off using an unsmoked lapsang or a Northern china Congou for this base.
Always tell myself to not read reviews before drinking something. Definitely should not have read nefore this one. To say this is uniqud is an understatement. It does taste of dill. I wouldnt say pickles, not a fully mature dill pickle anyway but more so the dill used for sweet relish, coleslaw…. dill in bread? Some German dish? Ugh. It Definitely reminds me of a dill dish but i cant quite put my finger on what it is. There is also a slight sweetness like stevia. All around weird experience. Drank the while cup trying to figure this out. Can’t say I really want to do this again though.
Pair this one with Bach. And stick your pinky up. Brewed this leaf two different ways in one gaiwan. Started with room temp water at a ninja park. Cold brewing revealed a smooth mouthfeel with no astringency. The flavors were definitely woody and earthy. Light pine, sap, and resin. Refreshing like menthol without the menthol zap. Redwood bark and fresh mulch. There is also something familiar that I can’t quite put my finger on. The aftertaste stays with you for quite awhile. Very earthy and cooling. The cool wet aroma is woody and earthy. Wet and fresh. But when steeped hot it becomes a bit fishy in both aroma and flavor but the other notes stay the same.
An interesting mix of tightly balled black tea mixed with fuzzy golden leaf, and dark brown leaf. Malty, woody, and somewhat creamy in the aroma as it steeps. Also hints of apple. The wet leaf has notes that remind me of Yunnan leaf. Slight fruit, but mainly malt and milk. The liquor is a very nice rose gold color. Malty flavor but also cream of wheat and mixtures of different wood types. No astringency. Soft mouthfeel. I need to clean up my tea area…. I don’t want to…
Truly surprised I did not review this one yet. As far as Ceylon tea goes teakruthi has great tea. There black tea is the best but their white teas are also quite good. The green teas could use work though. This is a unique blend of ingredients A bit old, this sample is, so maybe less on taste than it used to be but as usual, the hibiscus punches straight out along with the rose hip. The tang from the ginseng is not as strong as I had hoped either. I won’t give this one a rating till I can taste or more recently harvested blend.
It’s currently 41 on a cloudy day with the leaves popping full of color. Just out of one window I’m seeing an array of reds, oranges, yellows, and those silly greens that apparently didn’t get the memo. It’s okay. Currently, it’s tropics party in my mouth. The dry aroma is full of orchids and freshness though I can tell some of it has diminished a bit. That’s my fault. Gorgeous leaves. 3rd and 4th pickings a mix of darker and a few lighter greens. Twisted but not tightly. The first aromatics were fresh and floral. The second steep is revealing lightly mineral notes with slight bread pudding and notes that sometimes remind me of fake popcorn butter. The flavor is parallel with the aroma. The third steeping reveals even more minerality with a slight drying sensation on the tongue.
