Shae. I am finally getting around to trying this one. Sorry it took so long and thank you so much for letting me try from your stash! If I had walked into this tea without knowing what it was I would have called it a weird-looking oolong. It is rolled like one but the stems are quite a bit thinner and the leaves are seemingly thinner and not as thick as the Camellia Sinensis leaf. The wet smell is very vegetal and somewhat mineral. The flavor is very savory. Brothy. Reminds me of ginseng but is smoother with a touch of astringency.

This tea makes me excited for Hocus Pocus 2. I truly hope it is a good movie because the first is a classic. I could see Winifred drinking this right before the sun rises. Or maybe they don’t enjoy things of this world. Would make sense. On a completly different note, I have always enjoyed curry and we recently discovered that adding kaffir lime leaves gives it the flair that I really like from restaurants. The thing is you really have to know how to handle the proportioning because it is incredibly potent. One leaf is enough to flavor a huge pot of curry. We started off with four our first-time _. What is my point with this? There is lime leaves in this brew and if they had not portioned these correctly this would have been quite the tea XD. The dry aroma is warming with slight mulling spices. There is a hint of the lime leaves in the liquor flavor but the spicy and fruity mulling flavors along with the woodsy notes from the black tea help taper it down.

A curry tea would be really good actually. I am thinking like thai green curry style.

I really hope they do Hocus Pocus justice too. If not, I suppose we always have the magic of the original.

Skysamurai

Indeed. I figure if anything else it can’t be worse then The Star Wars Christmas Special

Tightly twisted leaf. Medium and some large sized. Raw pu erh…. Man, I don’t know. The shengs just aren’t doing it for me. I will keep trying them to see how my palate develops for them over the years but I feel like I licked pavement and then stuck a very herbaceous decoration in my mouth. Oh boy. And if you let it go too long that astringency will floor you. More so like a green than a black. Here’s to eternal youth. does a snoopy blarg I saw dub thee: TEA OF CLEANSING my stomach. I won’t rate this simply because I really don’t know what I would put. It is not a bad tea, just not my taste.

A dark black tea blend. For someone who knows the six types of teas this is a confusing statement. For a refresher they are White, Yellow, Green, Oolong, Black (red in China), and Dark. Pu erh falls under the category of Dark and since there appears to be no Dark tea in here I am assuming is a descriptor. It is indeed very black in my mug but in a tasting cup, it is golden amber and clear. The dry aroma is warming and spicy. But the liquor aroma is slightly milky and kind of reminds me of a plant outside. Ooo and then wet leaf smells highly of cinnamon. This one can definitely take a longer steep than I originally thought it would. Mine was steeped for around 3 minutes but I think it could easily handle more and make it a stronger flavor punch in the face. There is a touch of astringency and a bit of a crisp mouthfeel. It is a nice flavor with the woody notes of the black tea, the toasted notes of the mate, the spicy harmony of cinnamon but the chamomile does something weird at the end. It’s the only thing bringing down the score for me.

If Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon had a favorite tea this would be it. Beautiful and rich with intense rose aroma and flavor but subtle with wonderfully balancing woodsy tones. They are using an unsmoked Lapsang for this one. The finish is very nice. Slightly creamy with a dry woodsy flavor.

Split pea soup. Holy. Brothy. Moley. So brothy. The mouthfeel is so filling. And asparagus tips. This would make a great base for soup. The dry leaf is covered in silvery hairs. So pretty. Soft. Looks like mainly buds and first leaves. With the second steep the pea soup has toned down a bit. You also find summer grasses nd a bit of astringency but only slightly.

Tea for Jenny.
This cup is dedicated to you Jenny. You were my babysitter. I hope I didn’t give you a hard time. We never interacted much beyond that and seeing you down the street. But you were a kind and gentle soul. May you rest well.

Evidence of trichomes on the inside of the package. With an interesting wine aroma. Like a Burgundy. With a very slight sweetness from a Visanto. Golden tips and curly tightly twisted leaves. The wet aroma is very nice. A mix of what was already mentioned but then it switches to heavily wooded notes. This is definitely a woodsy brew. Wood chest. Wood compost. Playground wood? Also creamy with a bit of astringency. Would go well with milk.

Spice & Tea Exchange is on the wish list for our next run to the Branson tourist area. I never paid much attention to their unflavored black options. I will now!

I actually wasn’t expecting much from this blend but it was very good

If you like a woodsy brew you’ll love this tea. It is warming and earthy in all the woodsy lover aspects. The aroma reminds me of a cabin deep in the woods with dark wood paneling. Moss surrounding and a small fire outside ready to make stew. The flavor is so woodsy. Decaying wet wood in a pine forest. Slight resin and old pine chest.

Thank you for that little mini-vacation-in-review. I’m smelling it all and feeling the dampness in my dry bones!

drank Fruit Bomb Lapsang by white2tea

What an interesting tea. I’ve already learned that there are two types of Lapsang. Smoked and Unsmoked. This appears to be unsmoked. The aroma of the wet leaf shows hints of fruit here and there but mostly wood notes. Dark panels in an expensive house. Based on other people’s reviews I may have let this one sit too long. It was hiding. The twist chocolate-looking leaf is still gorgeous though. And the amber/rose gold color of the water is quite a site. But I am not finding all the fruit notes everyone else seems to be finding. Slight dark cherry and dark cherry wood. Maybe a hint of pomegranate but also resin and interestingly no astringency. Even though I’ve been steeping it for at least five minutes now. There’s also a bit of a milk texture and flavor to it.

Had a bit left from the class cupping. Realized I haven’t been leaving reviews here. This is a good black tea. Would work well for milk or sugar. On its own it is mouth-filling. No astringency at the personal steeping level but you can find some by steeping it longer and hotter. It is slightly smoky, a bit brothy, and reminds me of decaying wood. Oh! and a bit of cream of wheat.
