drank Matcha Matsu by DAVIDsTEA

Ok so I have always been a bit timid about matcha because it seems so daunting and requires so much work and a lot more supplies that I have money to spend on. Despite all this, I’ve wanted to try matcha for the longest time to reap all the benefits it claims to have. How was I going to do this – spend a good $30 for a whisk? That was out of the question. But one day I had the brilliant idea of using my $4 Ikea hamd held milk frother to whisk it! I went into my favourite Davids Tea location (Brentwood Town Centre) and they said that it could work. I bought 30g straight away and the next morning I tried it as an iced latte. This is what I did: I mixed the matcha in less than a cup of not-boiling water using the frother, mixed in some peppermint flavoured hot-chocolate mix, added a touch of agave into it, mixed it some more, poured it over my leak-Proof Mug from Davids full of ice, added some vanilla unsweetened almond milk, stirred and then took it to go to work (with no back-up tea in case it turned out to be yucky). Well it turned out delightfully delicious!!

So now I’ve been steeping teas, using that tea instead of plain hot water to whisk my matcha in, and having fun making yummy flavoured iced matcha almond milk lattes. Teas I’ve used so far, all from Davids: Creme Brulee Rooibos (Yum!), Pure Vanilla Rooibos (it was ok), Cocomint Cream (so refreshing!), Mulberry Magic (delicious!), Read My Lips (I probably need to try adding more RML to give a proper review), Creme Caramel Rooibos (just as good as when I used the Creme Brulee), Cocoa Canela (not my favourite), Gold Rush (it was ok), Coffe Pu’erh (it was ok)

I am so excited that I have found a method that works for me!! Have any of you had any other yummy combos with matcha?

What a treat this was! I had never tried such a fresher tasting black tea. The first few days were absolute heaven. Then I tried it again a couple of weekends ago and it didn’t taste the same – lost some of it’s freshness. I keep remembering the first few cups though – it was like I had gone into the mountains and swallowed a gulp of fresh green grassy air. I cannot wait for the next Garden to Cup tea!

The smell of this in the bag was delicious and very promising. We had this iced and I must say I was pretty disappointed. There was a ton of stuff going on in this tea: too much lemongrass, my boyfriend complained that it was bitter (probably from all that stevia – yuck!) and I kept worrying if the sulphites might upset him. I really wanted to like this tea as it smelled so yummy, but oh well…

THIS tea!! THIS is what I have been waiting for since finding out Pom Power had been discontinued. THIS is the tea that has filled that big gaping hole in my heart. I will be drinking this iced ALL summer. Please oh please DAVIDsTEA consider making this a permanent tea!!! I’m pretty sure I have half my office hooked on this tea just by the smell alone. When I love something, I go out of my way to “promote” it. I already talk about your company and teas all the time, but if you keep this one around, I swear, you’ll only find me talk about it 24/7. This is how much I love this tea :)

I like this one better when it’s hot. It’s kind of bland when it’s iced

Sweet dreams indeed – it really worked to calm me down and get ready for bed

It is ok (came out at the same time as Blueberry Jam, which I love!)

Mmm! It’s so yummy iced. I added a small dash milk and it makes it so creamy and smooth. One day I decided to put vanilla ice cream to it instead of milk and it was sooo much better!! Too bad this one is seasonal

I love this when I have a cold/cough – it’s got the ginger in it to make it chug-worthy when you’re sick, but also the really nice flavour to give it a little pep in it’s step
