6686 Tasting Notes

Ginger Snappish from Bigelow
66

Special thanks to Alphakitty for this one!
I haven’t seen this one on shelves where I live so I’m always up for a new-tea experience. I’ll try just about anything once! LOL :)

It’s mostly lemon and ginger but there is a little something extra in there, perhaps, it’s the licorice. This one isn’t bad for a bagged herbal tea. It’s not something I would buy but I’m super excited I got to try it. The colorful packaging is sort of neat, too!

Duke Cardiff's Black Tea Blend from Simpson & Vail
90

Amy Oh and Nicole had me curious about this one so I got it! Glad I did! It’s way different than I was expecting but that is what I like most about it. The various black teas used in the base make up a flavor of its own and it does have notes of grape and/or currant as others as well as the product description noted. There is a bit of smoke but more notably the peppery black tea popping thru. And there are fruity/floral notes, too! This is very different but quite good, indeed!

Black Pearl from Mountain Tea

Thanks Alphakitty
This smells like malt, cookie, and apple.
It’s infuses to a medium brown.
This is unflavored but has a lovely natural apple touch to it.

A little bit of all of the following…crusty, malty, sweet, apple, cookie, woodsy – on the tongue! YUM!

Coconut Macaroon from Compass Teas

Orange Pekoe and Pekoe Cut Black tea from Rituals
61

This cracks me up! I just was reading that The DJBooth AND Calochurtus both had this tea in a hospital and/or medical facility…guess what…that’s where I had it too!

It’s not strong but it’s better than Liptons. It did the job while I was stuck in ODS for several hours waiting for DH.

Peace, Love & Happy Tea from Indie Tea
85

My mother always said I was a ‘TEEN’ in the wrong decade! Sure…I was a 70s Baby but I wasn’t of age in the 60s or 70s to participate in Woodstock, Hippie Gatherings, and Communal Living. I probably would have – had I been given the opportunity! So when I saw this tea I KNEW I HAD to try it!

I know you’re not supposed to judge a tea by it’s name but I sort of DID with this one. Usually I’m not one to ‘yank’ a floral tea off the shelf or specifically order one but this tea NAME had me a Peace/Love/Happy.

This is made up of Green Tea, Jasmine, and Chrysanthemums.

It infuses to a gentle orange/tan color. I can smell and taste both of the flower ingredients. It’s both florally-sweet and semi-florally-bitter. It’s a nice yin an yang of sorts.

This is fantastic for a floral tea. It really is.
Groovy Man…

Moonlight Osmanthus from Lupicia

Alphakitty thanks so much for a bit of this!

At first sip it was sweet and almost like a candied-flower if that makes sense. The end sip on to the aftertaste doesn’t taste ‘sweet’ more floral and as it cools or gets to almost cold the floral aftertaste does morph to a bit of a bitter-floral aftertaste…but nothing I can’t handle.

This is lovely! LOVE the color! Neat Morphing Flavors, too!

Victorian Earl Grey from Tiesta Tea
87

Thanks Alphakitty!

Sure this is a great VEG! (Victorian Earl Grey)!
I have to say what makes it a bit different is the Rosemary and it’s very nicely done!

Fragrant, Floral, perfumey, Citrusy, EG-y.
YUM!

American Breakfast Blend from Simpson & Vail
94

I’m stoked to be drinking one of Mr. Vail’s original blends (one of the first 15, even!) I’m also really excited they made mention of both English and Irish Breakfasts in the product description as well as mentioning the black tea blended base is made up of teas from India, China, Sri Lanka, and Formosa. With all this in mind I can’t help but think of what America is made of…immigrants – we all are! People from all over the world make up America so it puts a smile on my face that all of this also goes into this American Breakfast Blend of a tea.

I can taste the English and Irish Breakfast comparisons, here, but I can pick up on the floral notes, sweet-woodsy notes, a bit of smoke, and even hints of citrus – naturally speaking.

This is super tasty! Much of what I look for in a Breakfast/Black Tea with a little extra somethin’-somethin’!

Gingerbread Black from Simpson & Vail
92

WOW!!!! This is marvy! I was thinking it was going to be like a chai but the spices are there but mesh differently to make sure it’s more of a gingerbread than a chai, I guess. I’m not sure how but it does! And I’m glad it does! It has a bready/cookie type taste with all the right spices! This stands by it’s name and description from S&V and I really like this! YUMMO!

Mengku Palace Ripened Golden Buds Loose Pu-erh Tea 2007 from Teavivre
85

I wasn’t overly fond of the intense earthy/mossy aroma but the flavor is pretty good! Special thanks to Liberteas for this one! It’s malty and mellower but has nice sweet-woodsy notes to it with a hint of cocoa powder!

Cafe Vanilla from Della Terra Teas

Assam Beesakopie from Simpson & Vail
92

YUMMY! This is the Assam I have been searching for this week! YAY!
This is fairly malty but well rounded from start to finish! It’s a nice straight-up naturally-juicy black tea. It has a good amount of strength but isn’t the slightest bit bitter. I really like this Assam! It’s lovely!

Green Tea Heaven from Talbott Teas

It’s an official SIPDOWN – well – that and I am passing some on to friends.
Still LOVE this one. I’ll miss it but hope others enjoy it too! See previous notes :)

Leadenhall Street Breakfast Blend TB02 from Upton Tea Imports
62

So last time (see previous notes) I didn’t have that great of a trial with this one. This time around I infused for less and it was a bit better but still fairly bitter. It IS super strong and I really needed the strength this morning because I look and feel like a ZOMBIE but I’ll up a tad but it’s still not my favorite. I’m sharing the rest with Liberteas & Azzrian

Less than one minute is MUCH better – at least for my tastes. It’s gentle, very clean, and summery. A tad fruity. Not as vegetal. My water was a little cooler (but still hot) as well. To play with this one – makes all the difference in the world.

Goody!
