197 Tasting Notes

Himalayan Black Tea with mint from SERRV
8

SERRV is an organisation that helps indigenoous people around the world make and market crafts, many of very high quality. This tea, however, is not. It smelled “off” in the package – maybe moldy, I’m not sure. Tastewise, there wasn’t much – not even the mint!

Potpourri from Liber Teas
81

A lovely tea hot, with lemon and floral and just as lovely cold brewed. Altogether a very nice blend. It’s also quite pretty and smells good.

Keemun Tea from Spices Etc.
73

I needed to fill out a spice order and got this Keemun. It came in a standard 2 ounce spice jar! It smelled very fresh and it’s pretty good, with lots of flavor nuances including licorice, sarsaparilla, woodsiness, a tiny bit of smokey. Really a pleasant brew. Quel Suprise!

Rose Kissed Jasmine from Simpson & Vail
95

This is a great iced tea! The flavors really come out, but politely. The 2 combine to form what I think the lovely scented “Mock Orange” shrub must taste like. I cold-brewed it in the fridge overnight. I used about 12 teaspoons to a 2 quart pitcher. Really super to drink on a hot afternoon.

Black Currant from Tea Forte
81

Oh, but i am a happy camper – finally a black currant tea that doesn’t smell disgusting and is nice and fruity and tastes like the black currant teas I used to love. Woo Hoo!!!!!!

Buckingham Palace Tea from Culinary Teas
85

This has always been one of my favorites. Currently I am drinking it iced and the flavors really shine in the cold – I do the cold brew in the fridge method. Used about 7 teaspoons for 1 1/2 quarts, about 7 hours. Really good, refreshing stuff!

Pineapple Paradise from The Boston Tea Company
80

I made this by the cold brew in the ’fridge method and I love it. The pineapple stays true, it is a very pretty pale green and the berry and lemon come out as nice additions.

Strawberry Fields from The Boston Tea Company
34

Oh well, this was not to my taste at all. Tasted more like cherry tobacco than strawberry tea. I think the dried strawberries are the problem – they have such a different flavor. Also the recommended 4 minutes is too long to brew it. it was better with less tea at 3 minutes, but still not very good

Mélange Hédiard from Hediard
81

This really comes into its own as an ice tea – all the flavors come out and it is very refreshing. Much better than it was hot! I did a cold brew for 6 hrs in the fridge

Sinharaja from Golden Moon Tea
80

Yumm, Yumm, very very nice tea, with an almost sweet finish and a nicefull body, with indeed, molasses or caamelized sugar overtones, not heavy , but full and rich.

Orange U Slim from Teas Etc
20

Essentially tasteless and it’s no good as ice tea, either.

Hu Kwa from Mark T. Wendell
87

I love this stuff and I think it is the BEST Lapsang Souchong. However, it makes lousy ice tea, so don’t try it that way

Apricot Green from Adagio Teas
73

Made this as a cold brew ice tea. Very, very nice, with the tiniest touch of lemon.

Coconut Joy Black Tea from The Boston Tea Company
79

I really like this. Delicate coconut flavor that is mildly sweet without sugariness. Milk goes nicely, didn’t like it with lime or sugar. Coconut comes out more as it cools. Tea base was very fresh and good quality

Simpson & Vail Special Blend from Simpson & Vail
75

A very nice tea for breakfast. Strong but smooth, very good for the type.

Original Tulsi from Organic India
73

Minty, lemony, abit of cinnamon and clove? or maybe a bit medicinal? Light and refreshing hot, awful cold, no flavor.

sweet fusion from Simpson & Vail
7

Yuck! Two sips, I gave it away

Snowflakes on Green Lake Bi Tan Piao Xue from Life In Teacup
88

This is wonderful stuff! The best Jasmine I’ve had. The second steep is absolutely exquisite!

Candy Cane from Adagio Teas
34

Not much smell, not much taste. More like generic “candy” than a candy cane

Chocolate Mint Truffle from Mighty Leaf Tea
79

Tasty tea, it is just what its name says.

Winter White Earl Grey from Harney & Sons
39

tea bag. More faint lemon than bergamot. Nice but not impressive, but then, I am not a big white tea fan.

Jasmine Oolong from Ten Ren
80

Teabag. Smells wonderful, jasmine, with a hint of incense, tastes really good until it cools and then is bitter, Temp was too high, , my goof but this is a nice tea. Mix of jasmine tea and Oolong

My Irish Breakfast from Unknown
80

Don’t know who I bought this from – it’s in an old tin. But it’s good and strong and mostly Kenyan and a sure way to celebrate the day!

Formosa Alishan Oolong from auraTeas
88

This is one of the best teas I have ever had. But then Aura Teas does really good stuff
