Yerba maté Tea by 52teas

…lime in the coconut and you blend it with green yerba mate, lemon balm, lemon verbena, lemongrass and natural flavors, and you have one delicious beverage!

I know I promised some folks a honeybush blend this week, but I’m working out a few more details on that blend—stay tuned. For this week, we have a truly unique and delicious blend of green yerba mate with lime/lemon and coconut. This is really delicious as an iced tea, the creamy notes of the coconut and the tangy citrus notes do battle for the attention of your tastebuds. I had a big icy stein of this earlier and it’s really, really delicious. You’re not going to want to miss out on this one.

I am putting together a swap package or two so while rummaging through my tea stash I came across this – I haven’t tried it yet, so I figured now was as good a time as any!

Nice! A nice balanced flavor of lemon, lime, coconut and yerba mate. Nothing too overwhelming. I love the sweet-tart finish at the end, it reminds me of a freshly squeezed lemon limeade… very juicy!

I’ve been wanting to try this one for a while and because of LiberTEAs I was able to! Thanks so much!!!!

Dry – prior to infusion – this smells like coconut and oregano. The Coconut wasn’t a surprise but the oregano-likeness certainly did!

While infusing the aroma magnifies! Now it smells like coconut, citrus, an assortment of fresh herbs, and something that reminds me of a gentle ginger…maybe it’s the yerba mate??? Not sure.

This tastes more herbally than I expected, actually. I can taste the lime more than anything followed by the lemon and coconut. They help cover – what I consider a stereotypical yerba mate taste.

This is comforting yet energizing. Citrus yet herbal. Lime but lemon. Warm but cooling. A contradiction in a cup, perhaps? Ah…but it’s a GOOD contradiction for opposites attract!

Different but Good!

Yes! Hot, this tea is all lemon and lime wrapped in a coconut hug. And not one of those weird lingering hugs from someone you don’t like. Thankfully the lemon isn’t that nasty plastic lemon flavour either (which I have previously ranted about).
Chilled is when this yerba mate really shines – specifically the lime – making me long for those warm desert nights I had poolside in Palm Springs all those weeks ago…

This was certainly a pungent-smelling cuppa – very herbal with added lime. The flavour is…interesting, again it’s rather pungently herbal with some slight bitter notes. The coconut is more readily apparent giving the tea a nutty aftertaste, but I’m not getting as much citrus as I thought I would given the scent.

I’m not entriely sure what I think of this tea yet, so I’m going to hold off reviewing it for now.

Interesting – I was afraid that the longer steep would bring out the herbal notes of the yerba mate more, but it seems to have done the opposite and capitalized on the coconut. I think I’m liking the blend more this time around.
