Hot Buttered Banana Bread

Black Tea by 52teas

Here’s our premium black teas blended with real freeze-dried bananas, chopped walnuts and natural flavors. The banana is a bit strong on the nose, but the bread, walnuts and touch of butter are all there in the cup. This is an awesome tea, probably even better with a touch of cream and sugar. I’m looking forward to all of your reviews on Steepster.

Wow I don’t know what I was thinking, but I wasn’t going to write a note because I thought this was too old to drink because it tasted like bread.

HURR HURR Hot Buttered Banana BREAD. Totally on it today.

The banana is not as strong as I’d like it to be, but for its age this is decent. The walnut is probably why I can’t taste the banana, I’m sure I can fix that with agave or something. Walnut always seems to take away sweetness for me…not fond of them in tea, or in general actually but they always make their way into baked goods, so I accept that.

I may have to add a bit more leaf too to make it taste more banana-y, but it does taste like toasty bread, so that’s good!

I seem to be on a flavored kick. This is my ‘second breakfast’ tea.

I do get the banana and walnut flavors, and the smell is divine. It is probably sweetened slightly more than I normally do. The base is not as smooth as I usually like, but I think that adds to the walnut flavor. A good one! And I bought two pouches on a recent reblend. Yum!

OMG! One sip of this is utter bliss! I’m not normally a banana fan (there was an Incident in CA with a spider that terrifies me to this day), but I do like banana bread and the flavor of banana, artificial and natural.

This is a natural flavor, pleasing and delicious! I taste buttery banana bread, just like Mom makes. It doesn’t beat Pancake Breakfast as my favorite 52teas black tea, but it’s definitely an any-time-of-day cuppa. Lip-smackin’ delish!

Okay, I’m trying to be a better little steepster reviewer, so here goes my THIRD review in THREE days! (Thank you, thank you, hold your applause!)

After trying Bananas Foster which I was less than satisfied with (sorry Frank!) I was digging through my sample box and found a sample of Hot Buttered Banana Bread. Since I was still looking for that banana satisfaction, I gave it a go.

This is WAY better than the Bananas Foster, but still only a tiny bit of banana… I think you can definitely pick up the other flavors in this one, though, which makes it a satisfying cup. A little bit of walnut, a smooth butter, and then the banana underneath it all.

As usual, I made this with soymilk, which I’m sure changes the taste just slightly. I have a feeling that as this cup cools off, the flavors are just going to get stronger and more delicious. Yep, just took another sip and the banana is coming out more and more.

Glad this one doesn’t have cinnamon in it because that’s what killed the hot cup of bananas foster. Yum yum!

Today was a great mail day! I not only got this tea but also my 12 days sampler. The sampler is adorable, and I am just itching to get started on it… I’m even trying to make the time go faster … today while at the store, I tried writing the check for the 9th rather than the 8th!

Anyways… the smell of the tea is AMAZING… it smells like fresh, hot banana bread. Yummmmmmmmm

Oh wow! This is yum. Since I am enjoying this with my lunch, I am going to hold off on the review, because I’ve got a lot of different flavors going on right now. I guess I’ll just have to brew myself a second cup later. Oh, the torture!

OK… I’m having that second cup now.

I really like this. The banana is sweet, a subtle nutty flavor from the walnut, and a nice bakey taste to it too. Creamy smooth buttery finish. Yum yum yum yum yum!

Now, I’m off to write a review for the Tea Review Blog!

Yum! This morning I decided to add a splash of milk to it and make it a latte… I like it fine like this, but, I think it’s better without the milk.

Here’s my full-length review on this tea:

I’m a huge fan of banana bread with walnuts, so I was delighted to have got my little paws on the last of this. 1 teaspoon per 8 ounces, 3 minutes at 200 degrees in my Breville One-Touch.
The aroma of banana bread is filling my kitchen. Mouth. is. watering.
Steeps to a dark brown liquor that’s malty and astringent; perfect balance. It tastes very good without any additives, but when I added my usual bit of cream and brown sugar, wowzers. Like, woah… this is amazing. And as it cools down it impresses me even more; this must be good iced. I bet this would be a great selling permanent.

Made a pot of this for my boy to take to work and put more water in to brew a pot for myself. I’ve read that most all of the caffeine is removed in the first steeping, which is good since I’m pretty sensitive to caffeine. Still awesome the second time around. Added some farm fresh cream and brown sugar. Scrumdiddlyumptious.
Bf called once he got to work just to tell me how great the tea was and how it got his day off to a great start.

Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew, cover it in chocolate and a miracle or two? Zoomdweebie Man. Zoomdweebie Man can.

The bf and I are enjoying this hot with a touch of cream, brown sugar and a sprinkle of caramel creamer. The caramel mixes really well with the flavors. Then we added a spoon of honey and it tastes like banana bread fresh out the oven dripping in butter and honey. Yummm. We could drink this every day. My mom even tried this yesterday and LOVED it… and she only drinks black coffee. (Permanent! Everyone lovesss it!)

I only have a min to post…. but this is amazing!!!! it smells like heaven, and tastes just like buttered banana bread in the most realistic fashion I could never fathom… not chemically at all!-which I had feared.
I know I shouldn’t but I’m very tempted to see how this is with milk.
Anyhow, will write more later. A high rating here, partially for the sheer novelty :)

Fantastic! At first sip there’s a very natural tasting rich banana flavor. That moves to a smooth black tea with a touch of walnut, and then a lovely buttery finish. So very, very, very delicious. I’m going for a second steep.

I got this in a sampler pack from iheartteas in early June and I am only now tasting it. The dry notes smell like banana bread. my nanny makes THE best banana bread.
once steeped I get a touch of artificial banana smell. it’s smelling more like banana bread now.
First sip and all I get is strong black base eek. Let’s see if this changes as it cools… I’m getting some artificial banana taste and that’s it.

Thank you so much to SimplyJenW for the chance to try this one! I’m a sucker for a good flavoured tea, and was super happy to have the chance to try this one. I’m not normally a ban of banana teas, but I knew that if this one caught that baked banana flavour I’d be sold.

And wow, it does taste like banana bread to me. Or at least banana muffins which is close enough for me! This is a flavoured tea where the flavouring dominates over the tea itself, but that is rarely a bad thing for me. I am glad I had this one after dinner because it screams dessert tea in all the best ways.

Received a sample of this from KeenTeaThyme (KiTT)…thank you!! This is wonderful and really yummy. Not only does it smell like Hot Buttered Banana Bread, but it really tastes like it too. So much so that a co-worker came into my office looking for the banana bread and didn’t believe me when I pointed to my mug. This also turned out awesome because I finally got my perfect tea temp kettle last night…wow was I missing out!

I think I’ll try this as a latte later with my new frother thingy! :)

I’m not going to divulge how many bags of 52teas tea arrived today. It will keep me happy for quite some while, which is sad, because it means I should resist the weekly teas for at least a month.

Anyhow, Hot Buttered Banana Bread is steeping in my pot. The scent of the dry tea is fabulous – most banana scents are overwhelming and cloying. This one is just right (Goldilocks would be pleased!). As it steeps, banana wafts up from the pot, with some nutty undertones. I haven’t had a black tea from 52teas before, so I’m much looking forward to my first sip.

The black base has a maltiness along with an astringency to it that really compliments the sweet banana, and the, well, nutty walnut. I would not have thought to marry these flavours, and yet this so totally works, I’m really very happy I ordered this. This would make a perfect breakfast tea or morning break tea.

I don’t know Frank, you’re making me rethink my rating system and my previously stated preference for unadulterated oolongs.

Life is good again. My three pouches of the reblend came yesterday. Heaven and joy!

I had this hot while making pancakes and cold while making lunch. It was blissful both ways. Banana with a hint of nuts, and a great nilgiri base. This tea is officially my all time favorite.

Let me start by saying, I LOVE Banana Bread. Especially hot and buttered Banana Bread, and since I have high expectations of 52Teas, I was extremely excited to make this. As soon as I received it, I had to tear the package open so that I could indulge, the aroma of the dried leaves is heavily banana and a slight baked/sweet smell that you would expect from banana bread. Very exciting.

Made this yesterday, hot, three minutes, no additives.

The main flavor is a slightly toasty/baked black tea. Then there is a sweetness with the banana flavor, not artificial at all, natural sweetness and just a touch of it to not overwhelm the tea itself. There is a hint of nuttiness and followed up by creaminess from butter.

I think this would be fantastic with milk/half and half or whatever you fancy. Will definitely have to give it a try.

Wow, this is very nutty and has a nice banana flavor. It does taste similar to banana bread and not just banana tea. I don’t get the butteriness but I feel like I may have over steeped it so I will try again.

Bumping up, I had this today in my insulted L.L. Bean Canteen and it stayed perfect for over 9 hrs and yes, I made a lot. Nevertheless, I got the steep time perfect this time and it is amazing. Mind you I am not a huge fan of banana tea but this one looked awesome and I am so happy I got this.

This tea is legit.
My goodness.
I can’t stop sipping it and looking at the picture and the melting butter and gaaaah – thank you butter flavour!
Mmmm it’s good. I’m going to throw a bit of roasted mate and chocolate chips in my next cup to make a choco-chip banana bread that will keep me awake this friday night.

Very happy friday! All the other reviews are spot on, so I won’t repeat. I’ll just enjoy.

Kristen sent me a sample of this in a swap. This tea is much better than I expected. It smells a little like banana laffy taffy, but it tastes like banana bread. I’m getting the walnut flavor in the finish. It’s pretty good. I sweetened with agave nectar and gave it a tiny bit of silk soy creamer.

Update – lowering my rating as I could not drink a whole cup of this. It’s not totally the tea’s fault. I just think banana in tea is not my thing.

Brewing now! Smells like Banana Laffy Taffy. Strange… usually gives me a headache. First few sips I can’t taste butter or bread. Sweet on its own. No need for sugar. Might need some creamer. On its own I’d give it a 75….

But there we go! That’s all it needed! Bump that business UP! Terribly tasty. I can taste the butter now. It mellowed out the laffy taffy sweetness. This is much less of a headache. Thanks ASHLEY for the sample!

Wow… I was actually excited to wake up this morning because my order from 52teas arrived yesterday but it was too late in the day for me to have a black tea. I knew the Hot Buttered Banana Bread would be a perfect way to start my Saturday and I was not disappointed!
The banana was really strong to the nose when opening the pouch but when steeped it mellowed out and blended well! I get a great taste on the banana, nuts and buttery bread tones. If you like banana then definitely check this tea out! I added a little rock sugar to the cup which I think enhanced the tea nicely.

Made as a latte this morning… delicious!

Perfect way to start this snowy, icy Tuesday morning! My house smells like I have been baking banana bread…yum!

This is soo good! I went a bit crazy and ordered a ton of teas from 52teas and then all three from iheartteas.com the day after (I was having a bad week, what can I say?) and got them all today so I am officially swamped in new teas. I knew I had to try this one first though, it seemed like the perfect choice today as I thought it might cheer me up as it is a cold, rainy, miserable day. And it certainly did its job! The banana is sweet and the most prominent flavour, which is good (I adore banana, hence why I ordered this tea) but then I taste the walnuts, which really give this tea so much depth. Yay!

I thought I would do something different today and have this tea with milk and just a touch of sugar. It was very sweet, it could probably have done without the sugar, but the milk made it very creamy and it brought out the banana flavour. I might have it with milk more often!

Used the second steep of this to make a tea latte. It is incredibly good! I can’t taste the walnuts as much but it is still delicious!

I had this yesterday but forgot to log, so thought I had better do it now. I got a lot of banana, but not as much walnut as I got from the last cup I had, but still very good. I had the second steep as a latte, just as tasty as I remember it.
