Peanut Butter Toast

Black Tea by 52teas

Here then is a blend of premium Indian black teas, with just a touch of lapsang souchoung smoked black tea (for toastiness) with real peanuts and natural flavors. I hope this hits the mark and helps everyone relive a bit of that peanut butter toast breakfast magic.

The last tea left to try from my Fire Sale box from iHeartTeas! I’ve actually never had a peanut tea before, mostly because the bf is allergic to them and I feel bad buying things he can’t try. However, it doesn’t count if it’s a surprise!

In the bag, this smells very smokey, almost like a full lapsang even though it says there’s only a bit blended in here. Smokey teas and I don’t always get along, so I wasn’t so sure, probably why it took so long to brew this even with my love of peanut butter. However, there are lots of whole peanut halves, so I had high hopes! Brewed, this loses a lot of that smokey edge and is almost fruity. In fact, it reminds me of a nice keemun! It’s smooth and sweet, nicely full-flavored with a touch of smoke and a hint of astringency. I think this would be a fantastic breakfast tea!

The peanut, though, isn’t that prominent. There are nutty tones but I don’t really get “peanut” except at the every end of the sip—the smokey notes linger along with the peanut, and that’s the only time I get the “peanut butter toast” aspect. I think the name is a bit misleading, since this is more of a nutty, brisk morning blend to me. Though it’s totally different from what I was expecting, it’s very tasty and I don’t think it’ll take long to finish this off!

I’m trying to get through some of my samples that I haven’t tried yet. This one has been sitting in the drawer ever since I got it from Alphakitty since it smelled smokey. I’m not a fan of smokey at all, but I need to make room in my sample drawer so I brewed it up.

It’s a little smokey, almost fruity. Definitely not peanut butter-y. For a slightly smokey tea I found it almost tolerable. But I can’t say enjoyable.

Thanks for letting me try it Alphakitty!

I taste only a mild resemblance to Peanut Butter Toast. However, the blend itself is smooth and well balanced. I am enjoying it. However, I picked this up for my husband. I sort of opened it before I could give it to him. Let’s keep that between us. Haha :-)

Okay… I have to admit that I signed up for the six week trial with more than just a tad of trepidation. I was really doubting my decision when I saw that the first tea I’d be receiving was the peanut butter toast. I love peanut butter, but somehow, the thought of peanut butter tea just didn’t do it for me. The sight of peanuts mixed in with the tea… uh…

Boy, was I wrong! This tea is smoky, slightly nutty, really, really good tasting. It’s a surprising tea. I expected something more juvenile, but this most definitely was not! I made it with the Breville One-Touch, 205 degrees for 3 minutes. It was really strong, and I probably would cut a minute off of the brewing time as I do not mix it with milk or sugar at all. The taste and scent are smoky, deep and comforting. I feel calmer. I’m really glad I went out on a limb and tried something new because this is excellent. Thank you, 52teas.

I was super excited to get this one because I love peanut butter! Opening up the tea it smelled like butterscotch chips with black tea. I loved seeing the actual peanuts in the tea.

After the brew it smelled very smokey, ( I have never had a tea that was smokey) I took a sip and it was a surprise, yes there was a smokeyness but then there was a slight sweetness as well. All in all very smooooth which was a surprise that something so smokey would be smooth. Letting it cool a bit brought out the sweetness a bit more and I can taste the peanuts in it. This was very interesting and different but I don’t know if I would buy it again, even though I did like it. I just don’t think I will reach for it very much!

This is an interesting blend – points for creativity and for pulling. it. off. (from How I Met Your Mother. Don’t mind me.) I taste peanut butter and toast – a light dusting of smoky tea. This is a bold tea, a morning blend, and woke me up. I definitely enjoyed the creativity and flavor-fun.

Like the Cinnamon Raisin Toast, I am tasting the toast in this but not so much the flavouring. It smells awesome and kind of like peanut butter, but I can’t get it in the taste. There is a bit of a nutty undertone and a slight sweetness but that’s all.

However, I am actually really liking the smokiness of this tea. Great with breakfast.

Yeah, I don’t know. I just can’t really identify any flavours in this except SMOKEY, with maybe a bit of sweetness. I only steeped this for 2 minutes and 30 seconds this morning hoping that might somehow change the flavours for me but I actually found it really bitter and didn’t finish it. I don’t get it. I liked it alright last time despite not getting the peanut butter, so I will go back to a longer steep.

I didn’t get the peanut very much, but I like the way this tea was overall. I think I caught a touch of nuttiness, and the faint lapsang souchong was just right. I want to try a longer steep tomorrow at work, with a touch of sugar, which may move it from health food store nut butter to Kraft PB goodness!
