It is finally time to drink the teas Jenn sent me! I have been saving out of these honeybush delights to drink with Sandy in the evenings and now she is back from Australia. I saved these so we could enjoy tea at night and not having caffeine keeping me awake.

This is Sandy’s first time having honey bush and she was pleased with it. It is great to find an alternative when you are not a fan of rooibos. This tisane smells wonderful in the package and wonderful when steeped. The dominant flavor is the coconut. Like many others, I didn’t taste much cheesecake. I think the honey bush itself has a wee minty flavor to me.

Final verdict, this is a great choice for have a cuppa after supper and still being able to get some shut eye! Thank you, Jenn! You are a sweetie!

Holy honeybush Batman! Coconut Cheesecake Honeybush is just plain delish. Lovey coconutty yumminess from start to creamy finish. As I’ve read in a few other reviews, I didn’t get a cheesecake flavor from this tea but the rich finish is enough for me. Very good indeed!

OM NOM NOM NOM

Ok, now that that’s out of the way.

Picked this up along with the Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish, so creamy cheese is definitely the theme of this week at Chez Ewa. Which is awesome. Obviously. It is kind of hilarious to me that I picked up the Teas, etc. coconut custard and then a few weeks later managed to get this as well, SO MUCH CAFFEINE FREE CREAMY COCONUT NESS. Hey, I know what I like, or what I might conceivably like despite not actually liking for real (I’ve already discussed my…tumultuous relationship with coconut).

Anyway, you are all going to think I have gone absolutely insane, but the overriding scent I am getting from this is…wait for it…BUTTER. I know, I know, really? Butter? WTF. But, there you go, that is what I am getting, which is interesting because that was totally how cheesecakes in Japan tasted to me. They do this extremely odd thing with cheesecakes over there that makes them extremely dense and…buttery although not necessarily a nice kind of buttery, most of them were a bit too much for my taste. Cursory google searching tells me that they do indeed put butter in the cream cheese mixture for cheesecakes, but I can’t say for sure whether that is a deviation from Western cheesecakes because it has been ages since I have made cheesecake myself, although further cursory googling leads me to believe that it is. Anyway BUTTER. Perhaps I now just associate butter and cheesecake? That would be weird.

The actual taste of the tea remains buttery, but definitely the nice creamy variety of buttery that I can definitely get behind. There is also a really good balance of coconut-ness/butteryness/vague cheesecakeness/actual tea, that just has me wanting to drink this forever. It tastes like dessert, but it’s not overwhelming like many of the other dessert teas I’ve tried are. I have not yet tried adding cognac yet to see what happens, and I’m not particularly filled with the urge to, although I probably will at some point (FOR SCIENCE). I definitely prefer honeybush as a caffeine free/dessert base to rooibos, although I also find this saddening because I used to like rooibos a lot more until someone on Steepster mentioned the sour wood aftertaste and now it is ALL I TASTE >:-| Oh well, at least honeybush doesn’t have it. And if it does, don’t tell me about it, I am apparently very suggestible :P

PS: I contemplated just writing om nom nom nom and leaving it there, but that would have meant depriving people of my cheesecake related tangents and clearly that would have been Wrong.

PPS: So many highly rated teas over the past few days! AND my first ever 100 (I have a neuroses related to the number re: WHAT IF I FIND SOMETHING BETTER but I have decided to just take that risk and accept that if I find something better 1. that will be pretty awesome and 2. get over it)

Sooo yummy! This is even better than Teas Etc.‘s famous Coconut Custard. It’s much more creamier and milkier tasting. A very rich and creamy coconut, this is.

This is so great. I’m really enjoying this. I’m on my second mug after practically inhaling the first one!

And another great thing is that the flavor is yummy even with using the non-boiling. hot spigot water at work! Total thumbs up.

Hmm… I’m almost afraid to post this, but as a coconut lover, this tea didn’t meet my expectations. I thought that I’d be LOVING this one.

The scent is extraordinary. Coconutty, decadent, rich. I’m imagining a piña colada tea style.

Boiling/5 min – The scent is filling the room. I’m really anticipating taking a sip, and then I do. Hm. Another sip. I’m not transported to my tropical isle. Another sip. Okay, I decide to set it aside and let it cool a bit. I come back to it and sip yet again. I wasn’t mistaken; this tea isn’t meeting my hopes and dreams. It’s good, but I think it’s the honeybush that is throwing me off. I’m really, really wishing this had a green tea base, or maybe even oolong. I’m just not tasting tea and it’s leaving me feeling empty inside. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not horrible, it’s just that with all the hype, I was expecting a fantasy-achieving tea. I can taste the toasted coconut (nice), the cheesecake (a slight tartness, yum), but the tea… ((sigh)) Where is the tea?

Did I mention the beautiful aroma? Ah!! It’s like edible suntan lotion. Yum.

I’m still running a rampage for my Lupicia order. I hate UPS. It’s raining (rare in california) and I do not want my tea tossed over the fence and getting soggy!

More annoyingly, staying home for jiu jitsu – I was about to go but my sinuses hurt too much when I was getting ready. Bleh. Back to watching jiu jitsu videos then.

I still have tea trades I haven’t finished, lol! This one is from Kittena, yay!

Creamy coconutty that lingers in my mouth. Slightly sweet as well. The honeybush is good base, going well with the coconut. I’m not getting much of the cheesecake though.

Overall, okay but not fantastic. I’d like the coconut to be stronger, with more cheesecake flavor.

I was so happy when I managed to get a bag of this the first time Frank reblended it. Just the idea of this tea sounds delicious to me.

It smells very coconutty and I can see that there’s an abundance of coconut shavings mixed in with the honeybush. The first thing that I can taste is the coconut flavour wrapped in with the sweetness of the honeybush. At first I couldn’t tell where the cheesecake was, but it comes in later a sort of creamy, slightly sour taste that’s just barely there, teasing the tastebuds before it’s gone. A touch more cheesecake would be nice, but other than that I really like this one. It’s like eating dessert only without any of the unwanted calories – yay! :D

“On the seventh (it is the 7th day, right?) day of Christmas, my true love gave to meeeee….”

…a lovely potful of of this delicious honeybush blend. This one is about neck-and-neck with the pina colada honeybush for my favorite from 52Teas.

I’ve been swapping a lot so I don’t remember who sent me this magnificent tea but THANK YOU, whoever you are!

Coconut? Love it!
Cheesecake? Yup, huge fan here!
Tea? Duh….

All together? Sheer perfection in a cup.

I never really understood when people talked about the mouth feel of a tea. I mean, let’s face it, it’s leaves soaked in water, what exactly are you expecting? But this? Creamy, decadent, rich? I don’t know how it does it, but I really don’t care.

Love it!

Another wonderful day in terms of Doggies getting along! Yay! In terms of work, on the other hand, it has been long and intense. Thankfully it is now over and I am free to enjoy my tea and my dogs!

I settled down with a cup of this, the 7th tea of the 12 days of Christmas from 52teas!

I was happy to try this blend. The other cheesecake tea from 52teas that I have tried (pumpkin cheesecake) I loved, so this was exciting to say the least. The smell of the leaves was oddly fruity with a coconutty aroma hanging out in your nostrils. The shredded coconut looked tasty and beautiful in the honeybush.

I steeped it the smell was all coconut. It reminded me slightly of sunblock, which is supposed to smell like coconut, so I guess this is a good thing. First sip unsweetened was smooth and creamy, sweetened the creaminess was even more notorious and the coconut shown through even stronger than before. The coconut in this blend doesn’t taste artificial, in fact, it is the the most realistic coconut flavor I have ever tasted in a tea!

My only issue with this tea is that I got 0 cheesecake flavor… Oh well… Still really enjoyable though!

I really enjoyed this cup of tea, but personally, I feel that the wonderful flavors may stand out more with a black tea base! : )

This is my first honeybush! I’m thinking I made a good choice! This is really sweet and strong. I did like this though. It’s almost buttery. Crazy rad.

Good morning. What am I doing to myself? Drinking a cup of tea without caffeine right after waking up? I’ll tell you why. Because this is delicious.

Iced iced iced! With cream and sugar! At work, during what must be a ghost holiday, because the crazies are especially crazy tonight!

Thank you tea gods.

Must up. Tastes like heaven. Hate diets. Love tea.

Oh my god.
I mean seriously. Oh, my god.
I apologize if that’s offensive but it was the least terrible descriptor I could think of that was also accurate. How is it possible that someone is able to translate such yummy food into a tea? It tastes exactly like coconut cheesecake – which is to say, crack. I am SO IN LOVE with this blend.
And so scared that I will be broke because of these teas…

I made the strawberry pie honeybush last night and saw this one sitting next to it, and made a mental note to make this today. Ah, memories….this was my very first foray into 52teas and the start of my addiction. :)

Prepped my usual way – 8 minute steep of 1 tbsp. leaves in 500 ml. water.

I have been going through my supply of Coconut Cream Pie black since the last time I’ve tried this, so I wondered how the two would compare. This one has the tang of cheesecake at the front, followed by the coconut, while with the black tea I feel like the coconut is more front and center, with buttery, flaky pie crust following close behind.

I like (nay, LOVE) both of them – the only deciding factor between which one I drink is the caffeine content, and really, it makes me so happy that I have a coconut tea I can have whenever I want one.

One of my must-haves (luckily it’s part of the permanent collection!)

YUM.

It’s been a while since I’ve had this, and it’s been even longer since I’ve had this without additives, but I wanted it plain tonight. And it is fabulous – tangy and coconutty. The boyfriend thought it smelled vanilla-y and since vanilla and coconut are similar scents I’ll give it to him. He still won’t try it though – he thinks the more desserty sounding teas are “too weird”. Ah, well, more for me!

I love this, and it has been SO LONG..

My throat has been sore today (WAH) but luckily my taste buds aren’t affected (and I can still breathe, hooray!) so that means lots of hot herbal tea with honey. And since I love creamy/dairy-ish flavors but can’t really enjoy them without feeling phlegmy this was the best way to kill all those birds with one stone.

This is my favorite 52 teas blend. This and the banana bread, but this one wins for tasting amazing and literally healing my current ills.

Latte style on the stove – one tsp. coconut nectar, 1 cup milk, 1 cup water, 3 tsp. leaf.

I do love this one. I’m running low, too. Luckily payday is this Friday because 52teas orders are never small!

Backlog from a few days ago…

ARGH. WTF is happening to my tastebuds?

Steeped the usual way, the usual time, with the usual amount, and it wasn’t until it cooled down that I got much of anything from it. It’s a long hard road, this cutting out of sugar.

Meh, I’ll keep trying with this one – I love it too much not too!

I think I’m going to have to get a pound of this special blended for myself. (If that’s even a possibility – I’m hoping it is because the thought of going without this makes me anxious!)

I just don’t think there’s any other way.

I keep reaching for it again and again and it keeps being awesome, and now I want to try most of Frank’s other honeybush blends because I’m sure they will not disappoint.

This stuff is all kinds of amazing.

Made latte style – heaven in drink form.

There’s nothing I can say about this tea that I haven’t already said – it is almost as if it was made just for me. I love it I love it I love it.

A latte made of this is the nectar of the gods.
I haven’t had this in a while so I’m glad that I found it tonight to enjoy before bed. It is so wonderful, and it tastes just like coconut cheesecake.
Sigh. The perfect end to a relaxing weekend.

I love this so, so, so much. I haven’t had this in a while and my first sip just about knocked me flat – yummy toasted coconut goodness. Yummy coconut dessertness that has no caffeine which means I can drink it whenever I want….

I steep 1 tbsp. of this in 500 ml water for 10 minutes, and that makes the most amazing cup. I have been trying to be careful about rationing this because I want to take some to my mom in the middle of March when I come visit for her birthday, because she loves coconut even more than me. But my bag keeps getting smaller and smaller, and the middle of March is so very far away…

Brought this down to my parent’s house so that my mom could try it. She liked it, as I knew she would.
I realized am definitely spoiled with my Breville though – I love how easy that makes tea consumption!

2nd steep!
3 tsp. in 500 ml water, steeping for 20 minutes. Tastes just as awesome as the first time around. I am so unbelievably happy that I can stretch this out to last longer!

Ah, coconut cheesecake honeybush. I missed you so.
Mixed this half and half with the french vanilla assam and made a latte using Frank’s way.
This is so amazing hot; I can imagine what it’s going to be like cold. Oh wait, yes I can: it’s going to be awesome.

Tried this again today, upped the steep time to 10 minutes. And I have to bump this rating up. Because it is, if possible, even more wonderful after that.
This tastes….thicker and creamier with the longer steep time. I still get that awesome sweet taste on the swallow, and I can’t believe it’s without caffeine or sugar.
I love this tisane. LOVE. And I have decided I can never be without it ever again.

I recieved my first ever order from 52teas this week. I don’t really think this smells like coconut cheesecake dry, but it smells good and there is a ton of coconut in it! Drinking it now, I think it is getting better as it cools – I think it will make a great iced tea! I still don’t think I’ve found my perfect coconut tea, but I can definitely see me buying more of this! The last time I bought a tea that was supposed to be coconutty, it tasted like maple syrup….blech! (Not that I don’t like maple syrup….but when you expect tropical deliciousness and get breakfast instead, it is disappointing!).

So far, probably the best coconut tea I’ve tried :)

Tegan Fyretyde

I just got my tea order from 52teas/mysweethoneybush today (Only a few days after placing! Awesome!). I opted to give this one a try first. The dry leaves had a coconut odor, that was pleasant and not to overpowering. I put a tablespoon into a tea bag and covered it with boiling water. The smell as it was brewing was pretty tasty. I think I could get a hint of the cheesecake in the brew. I left the room it was brewing in to go find the travel lid to my cup. When I returned, WOW, could I smell the coconut. I’m not a huge fan of coconut by itself, but I love it in other things.
I took my first sip without any additions. The tea had a pleasant taste with a coconut-y aftertaste. I like my tea sweet so I added some honey….to much honey. I had to add more boiling water and steep the tea a little longer.
Once that was done, it was a pretty tasty cup.
I think I am just all tea-ed out today, because I am on my 5th cup…..for that reason I am going to with-hold judgement until my next cup.

Finally getting back around to the 12 teas of Christmas! I put everything into little ziplock bags so I can pick and choose now, so this had to be first!

I get a lot of cinnamon, but I’m pretty sure that’s the honeybush. It comes out more to me than the coconut, but that’s still there. And the best part is the slightly tangy, super creamy taste. I may have to pick up a bag of this sometime soon.

I’d never had honeybush until I tried 52teas, and I don’t think I’d trust anyone else with it, amazing.

Wahhhh I had been hoarding the rest of the small amount of this tea from the 12 Teas of Christmas box, but I went into my caffeine free box and decided I’d drink the first thing I pulled as long as it was new or gone in a cup. And this was it.

Of course, it’s not like I can’t buy more of it, just not right now.

I would have preferred to have at least another half teaspoon for this cup, so it’s kind of light even after a 10 minute steep.

Letting it cool is helping too, first it was just a little coconut flavored. Now it’s come out more and I’m getting cheesecake again. It’s so sweet, smooth, and creamy. Earlier I had a frozen cheesecake bar from Trader Joe’s, it had blueberry but this tea is making me wish it was coconut! (Best dessert ever btw, 100 calories and 8g of sugar. They aren’t very big as you’d expect w/that info but it’s a perfect amount.) This isn’t one of my favorite cheesecake blends though, but I still love it.

Oh I’ve missed this tea. But no new teas anymore for right now, even if they were around!

I really, really need to buy a whole bag of this sometime soon because I love it a lot. I’m glad it’s permanent so that I have time.

There’s just something awesome about how coconut and honeybush work together. I was getting cinnamon the first time I had this, which I figured was the honeybush, and this time around it’s just all around sweet.

Oh cheesecake teas, I love you.

Another winner. Made up a pot of this to enjoy before bedtime. Heaping teaspoon per 8 ounces. I added a spoon of cream and sugar and it tastes just like coconut milk. The more I drink it the more I can taste the cheesecake, it’s definitely more coconut milk, though. The best coconut flavor I’ve ever tasted or smelled, good coconut is near impossible to come across. I’ve found my perfect coconut tea that I’ve been searching for. I’m amazed with how far from artificial this company’s teas taste. 52 Teas/My Sweet Honeybush has definitely set the bar high and raised my standards for tea.

Yummy with a splash of coconut milk :)

Dash of sugar and 1% milk since I’m out of cream. Still so creamy!

Enjoying this before I head to bed with just a touch of raw honey. :) So lovely.

It’s finally here!

And dear heaven it smells delicious. And I feel bad because my cat so desperately wants my attention, but… tea! The scent is coconut with a tang not unlike cheesecake, and I’m willing it to cool down faster so I don’t burn my tongue trying to enjoy it.

The coconut is authentic and tasty, and I’ll admit right now I’ve never had honeybush before—but there is a sweet honey rooibos-like taste under the coconut which I assume is from it.

There is definitely a tang in the taste which I assume is the cheesecake, made sweet by a very honey-like flavour (the honeybush? If so, I didn’t the “honey” in the name to be that noticeable!). This cup is delicious and I’m loving it. I need more caffeine-free teas to sip in the evening.

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p22/supermoon10/100_0416.jpg

Also with photos. Well, one.

The wait was worth it.

I did two and a half teaspoons for a cup of hot water, seven minutes, then poured it over ice. I haven’t quite gotten the hang of icing teas yet. It’s surprisingly bitter (not strong, but surprising because it’s not bitter at all when hot) on the tip of the tongue, but otherwise not very flavourful; I get a whiff of the coconut and cheesecake flavours when I breathe out. I know it’s the ice that watered it down, so I’m thinking about investing in a set of whiskey stones. I saw a set at Chapters, of all places.

Finished this off last night. I will mourn its loss, but I think I’ll branch out and try other 52teas blends instead of buying more of this one (as delicious as it was).
