Cinnamon Fig Rooibos

Fruit Herbal Rooibos Blend by 52teas

Makeupmorph suggested that we create a fig flavored rooibos, and though it took me a while to get everything we needed to create this blend, I hope you will agree that it was worth the wait. Here then is our fig flavored African rooibos with real dried fig pieces, real cinnamon and all natural flavors. Enjoy!

This one was not my cup of tea. It was drinkable but had a strange flavor to it; maybe it was Smarties candy flavor (or Necco wafers) and fig. The odd flavor was definitely something in a hard candy variety. I didn’t taste much of the cinnamon.

Thanks to Lisbet for a sample of this one.

After all the tea that I’ve drunk today (I managed 4 infusions from the Bai Yun!), I’ve decided it’s time to make some non-caffeinated choices.

I like this one pretty well. The fig flavor is a bit more mellow than I remember it being in previous infusions, but the cinnamon is nicely pronounced here – not a strong, spicy-hot cinnamon but a spicy-sweet cinnamon. There is a fruity presence also – but, it doesn’t taste definitively of fig.

It’s still quite good though and it’s a nice, mellow cup. Pleasantly sweet.

Well, it’s getting late, so it’s time to switch to some caffeine free tea! This is the last of my package of this tea… I have enjoyed it.

This is definitely a rooibos blend that benefits from an extended brew time. I allowed it to steep for 10 minutes.

The flavor of the cinnamon is pleasant. Not a strong, spicy presence, more of a sweet cinnamon-y taste. I am not sure if this is because of the rooibos – perhaps the natural sweetness of the rooibos brings out the sweeter notes of the cinnamon?

The fig in this blend is a bit softer than I would like it to be – I love figs! But I really like the combination of fig and cinnamon. A decent cup.

This wonderful brew has large fig chunks blended with red rooibos and plenty of cinnamon.

I’m not typically a fan of cinnamon, but I’d say it matched perfectly with the fig and the natural sweetness of the rooibos to produce a wonderfully light taste.

Figs are a tremendously undervalued fruit here in the ‘states,’ but I’ve always enjoyed them.

This brew comes across light and refreshing while needing nothing added. The cinnamon provides the lightest spice to the sweet rooibos and savory-sweet fig.

I think everyone should try this one!

There’s gigantic chunks of figs! Love it. Tastes just like the Fig Date bars that my mom’s friend Annie makes on special days, right down to that hint of oatmeal crust. Meghann M, thanks for this sample, too. It’s just fantastic.

Had just enough of this left for a small pot. Absolutely adore this one. It’s rich and cinnamony…love the chunks of figs. Delish!!

Well, I’m typically quite intrigued by rooibos although it’s really not my fave tea at all. Nonetheless, I was excited to try this offering by 52teas.

The color is a beautiful golden red. I know that there is a better way to describe it but I’m tired and a bit at a loss for words. The aroma is slight, really slight, makes me wonder of the taste.

The taste of rooibos is not lost but may not be as strong as most others I’ve had. I don’t really taste the cinnamon much but there is a light sweetness coming from the figs.

Overall it’s fine and I will certainly finish the 2 oz bag I purchased. I have just got to quit buying rooibos and remember it’s just not my fave.

UPDATE: After repeated brewing, the cinnamon does become stronger and I am enjoying it even more. I’m getting ready to try a fourth steeping and we’ll see if that is one to many steepings.

I bet this one would go really well with a nice piece of cake. Oooh, good idea, me. But I think I’ve been overindulging in dessert lately, so maybe not. Anyway, I most strongly taste the fig in this one, and it reminds me of the raisin in the Cinnamon raisin toast tea (which I liked). I don’t taste the cinnamon much, but that’s kinda okay because cinnamon can turn sickly sweet in tea blends, and I was afraid of that. I’d like to try this one with steamed vanilla soymilk, I think. It’s a good after dinner cup, and I can’t really taste the rooibos, so fear not, rooibos-haters!

I tried this iced and was pleasantly surprised on slight floral hints with the mellow rooibos and cinnamon flavor. I am thinking the floral hints might come from the fig…not sure. I enjoyed this tea very much.
