From 52teas

It’s 102° in Wichita today, I’ve been stressing out like crazy lately over a bunch of personal stuff, but fortunately, I have the perfect remedy: a tall tumbler full of iced tea, specifically, our tea of the week for this week.

Frankie Says Relax (I just couldn’t resist), is a blend of caffeine-free organic African honeybush, organic Tulsi Rama, lemon myrtle (come to think of it, I think it’s organic too), and natural lemon and lime flavors.

The resulting blend is a bit spicy, a lot citrus-y, with a touch of natural sweetness from the honeybush, and ALL relaxing. It is an “Ahhhhh”-moment in a cup. And I can tell you firsthand, it is amazing hot or iced.

I fully expect this one is going to go fast, and I don’t have an unlimited supply of tulsi (or honeybush right now for that matter), so don’t drag your feet, get some now and enjoy this one-of-a-kind refreshment.

I bought this as I’ve been meaning to try tulsi but also been a bit afraid to. I have some vanilla rooibos with tulsi teabags but I haven’t tried them as they smell rather odd. This sounded like a much better blend of flavours.

Last night I had a rough night of extremely low and subsequently extremely high blood sugars. The highs cause pretty bad dehydration that leave me feeling hungover without the preceding fun. Anyway, I’ve heard honeybush and rooibos are good for replenishing electolytes and thought this might be good/comforting to take to work iced.

Okay, cons:
- tastes kind of medicinal
- I tried two very, very fine filters that have never let anything through before and I’m still stuck with a lot of tiny black floaties. Some debris doesn’t bother me, but this is a lot. I think I have some Tsacs somewhere but I’m not really into using those.

pros:
- while it does taste medicinal, the flavours work pretty well together. The lemon myrtle and citrul are prominent and I think I can identify the tulsi.
- very refreshing

Uniquity

I know it’s not really better than TSacs, but I have strained extremely fine tea through paper towel and coffee filters before…Though i tend to steep in a pot, then pour my cup even if it’s just me.

Ah, good idea! I’ve used coffee filters when stuck at the cottage with no tea implements but don’t have any. But paper towels are capable of amazing things.

Uniquity

The paper towel method can make a mess if you’re unlucky, but at least you can then use said paper towel to clean it up! : ) I just try and make sure there is an indent in the paper towel, to encourage the tea to go down instead of everywhere.

I had this tea last night.

Let me start off by saying that I actually like medicinal teas. Not like the teas that taste like cough syrup, but the ones that are herbal and medicinal. I know that sounds really weird, but I love them. A lot.

And this one was pretty medicinal. It was pretty lemony and slightly sweet and it was very nice. And it was pretty relaxing. As the name suggests.

Also, my mother (who is very unwilling to try most teas) LOVED this tea, so it might actually be a repurchase! Thank you LiberTEAS for including this in the box of samples you sent me!

I don’t know why I waited so long to try this one. I just am like that when it comes to herbal blends. Hesitant.

This is yummy. It’s a little herbal-y/medicinal, but not in an off-putting way. It is sweet and pleasantly spicy with a nice minty undertone. The nutty, honey-like tones of the honeybush, the minty-basil-y notes from the tulsi, and the flavors of lemon and lime go together very nicely. Very nice and calming.

. . . what. Was. I. Thinking.

I don’t know if it was the honeybush or what, but this tea is just a big mouthful of bleh.
