From 52teas

My apologies for the late post this week. I haven’t had access to the Internet most of the week due to an outage. I won’t name names (AT&T), but somebody better get their stuff together, or I’m going to have to switch back to the other guys–who were more expensive but at least reliable. But you don’t want to hear about that…

You want to hear about pudding. Did you know that pudding was created using techniques for making Haggis and blood sausage? Eww. That’s not very appetizing…

Changing gears… Bananas are very yummy, what’s more, they are yellow and shaped funny.

Our Banana pudding flavored tea also has coconut, which some people dislike in pudding because pudding is supposed to be smooth and creamy and who wants shavings of coconut in there? But hey, it’s better in the tea. And I’m feeling a little loopy tonight and rushing to get this posted since it’s already late, but I think you’re all really going to enjoy this blend–mentions of Haggis and coconut aside.

Backlog from 2 days ago..

This smelled so familiar when I opened it…and it just came to me what it reminds me of! It’s like circus peanuts! Kind of a banana + marshmallow smell. There are huuuge flakes of coconut in this. One of my sad tea regrets is that I never tried Franks’ Coconut Banana hojicha blend that came out a few years ago, because I just knew those two flavors would go well together. Based on smell alone of this leaf I’m thinking I wasn’t wrong!

Maybe I’m highly suggestible but I do really get banana pudding in this. Even some wafer/graham cracker notes, like all banana good banana puddings have. I did add milk so I think that helps the creaminess but I’m still shocked at how right on this tea tastes.

Hmm.. there’s plenty left on the site. I’ll give this another go and if I get the same results I’m going to add some more to my one pouch. I’m hoping I do, because that first cup was pretty amazing!

And that’s a sipdown for this one! (164)

I oversteeped it so the base is a bit more pronounced, and the banana is more liquorish than I would like, but it is still a nice cup. I haven’t ruined it!

I love love love this tea!
Were you there for the “we love Franks’s banana” discussion?

Roswell Strange

I was trying to think of something to summarize how I was there for that (yay me) and how I was laughing currently remembering it, but struggled so I’m just gonna plop this ‘Lol’ here to suffice ;)

I’m dying to try something that actually tastes like banana. This sounds delicious!

No – I think I missed this? Can someone link it? :P
And Yvonne, not only is it banana, it’s creamy coconut banana! I almost ordered some when Frank had 15% off, but it’s sold out.

Oh my, that sounds a million times more amazing. Coconut makes everything good!

Right? I wish I had had more than that little sample!

I have a thing about banana so when I saw Frank reblended it around BF I picked up a pouch. I think it is almost half gone and I actually haven’t even had a cup yet (though I have tried the tea and I know it is pretty delicious). Everyone keeps asking to try it and I am just happy to share given I have so much :). I am glad you liked it.

I’m grateful you could share it, especially since you haven’t even had it yet! :O

Haha it is okay. Better to share it than let it all sit and go bad. Plus it is always nice when you can help someone try something that they may not try otherwise. Frank’s blends are so hard to find so I always try to accommodate when someone wants to taste one.

And, it is not like others haven’t done the same for me so it is always nice to give back.

You are just beyond nice, VariaTEA. :) The world needs more people like you.

My pouch of Butterscotch Banana is nearly gone, which makes me really sad. I have about a mug worth of this and Napalm Ferret left as well. Soon I’ll be out of amazing 52Teas Banana teas :(

A big thank you to Courtney for sending me this tea as part of our swap. I’m so happy to have it back in my cupboard!

I had a great big mug of this today, and it was excellent. Lots of banana flavor, hints of coconut, and a wonderful creaminess. The combination does remind me of banana pudding. As far as banana teas go, this is my favorite, and because Courtney was so generous I have plenty of tea to hot and cold brew. Yay!!!

Once I was making Butterscotch Banana, I decided it would be fun to compare my other 52 teas banana tea. Having the two side-by-side, I think I can confidently say I prefer this one. Both are good but I enjoy the combination of banana and coconut more. Plus, this is not astringent which is definitely helps make it more enjoyable.

Of all the days for me to get sick… on the coldest day of they year, when I need to be at the top of my game for a consulting gig I got. Aghhhhh!!

Can’t taste much of anything today so I chose something with strong flavours that I knew would punch through. and it did. Tastes just like that medicine I had as a kid. I don’t mind, it was the best part of being sick! like candy haha. Maybe I can fool my brain into thinking I’ve medicated myself…
Welps, back to work for me!

feel better!

I hope you feel better soon. and I loved that banana medicine we had as kids!

Thanks TeaBrat :)

Keychange, Thanks! and me too!! yummmmmmm

Sipdown! 866. Thanks again to Courtney for letting me try this one.

This does taste like banana pudding (although not my mom’s banana pudding, which was sliced bananas in vanilla pudding…. omg so good.) Anyways, yes. There’s definite creaminess from the coconut, and a nice hit of banana flavour, and the black base is solid here. Pretty decent tea; I don’t think I actually care for banana in tea as much as I thought I did (Banana Oolong by DavidsTea is an exception), but it’s still enjoyable enough to drink. And I’m glad I don’t have an entire pouch to drink!

Oh god, your mom’s puddings sounds amazing. I’m glad I didn’t bother picking this up. I kept going back and forth.

Sipdown (214/217)!

I had this last night in a timolino, just because the timolino was the perfect sized thing to drink it in and use up all the leaf. I’m sad to be down a 52Teas banana blend because they’re so good, but it was a really enjoyable sipdown and I made sure to stretch it out, savor each drop, and make it really count.

The coconut was more mild in this cup, and the banana/vanilla was stronger. As well, the mouthfeel seemed to be thicker which added to the “pudding” feeling.

Goodbye Banana Pudding, you will be dearly missed!

While bananas aren’t my favorite fruit, banana is one of my favorite tea flavorings. I don’t know why I prefer a banana flavored tea over the fruit, but I do. And I really like 52Teas banana offerings. (Yesterday, I had the Napalm Ferret tea … and the tasting note for that one will be posted …eventually! But my point is that … that tea might be my favorite banana tea yet although I want just a touch more banana. I like the combo of banana, cinnamon and cayenne. Yum! But … I’m digressing, aren’t I?)

Anyway! This tea is a little bit of awesome too! The banana flavor here is good and strong, and there’s a nice creaminess to the overall cup, not only from the vanilla, but the hint of coconut flavor that’s in there too. The coconut was a very subtle taste for me, but, as I said in my full-length review of this – – my daughter tasted it (she loves bananas) and she said she tasted more coconut than banana. So, everyone’s taste buds are different. I already knew that, but I guess it just goes to show.

Another great tea from 52Teas.

This tea kinda morphs on me. Sometimes I taste more banana, other times more coconut.

SPOILER – This is the third tea in this years 12 Teas of Christmas box by 52Teas. It’s funny because the last thing I said to my husband last night is that I’m craving banana, then this morning before I do anything else I scratch off the foil from the sachet and wouldn’t you know it…banana pudding.

Woah… the smell is overwhelming – strong, sticky banana and coconut filled the room with just a quick tear into the sachet. It’s overwhelming in a good way, the sort of way that makes me want to sit in a bathtub of this blend with nothing but a spoon. As fruity as this smells I can also note the black tea too.

The flavour matches the scent very well, the banana and coconut form a pina colada style blend but with added depth from the black tea and some richness. It’s a fruit tea without being comprised of purely fruit pieces, it’s magic. How does it taste so delicious and sweet and juicy? I cannot answer those but this is amazing, and I’m trying it without milk or sugar. Am I missing out by having this tea au-natural? It’s a risk I’m taking because for right here and right now it tastes perfect.

Banana Pudding tea? Heck yes it is!

This sounds amazing! I’m a sucker for banana anything though.

3/12 teas of Christmas, 2013.

This one is a hodgepodge of nostalgic flavours- primarily coconut and banana. Something about these two ripe ingredients gets to me, and conjures up images of rainbows, warm rain, and tropical islands. This blend also reminds me of the coconut cream pie blend, which I drank in copious amounts last spring, but with the additional sticky banana chip note.

This cup is sweet and creamy, with a bit of an astringent nip for grounding. Definitely something I can get on board with.

Edit: I accidentally oversteeped my second serving of this tonight by about 6 minutes. I added some milk in an attempt to cover up any bitterness and WOW it’s so creamy and banana..ful.
