Raspberry Cream Cheese Danish Honeybush

Fruit Herbal Honeybush Blend by 52teas

We’ve been working on this one for a couple of months now and I think we’ve finally gotten it perfect.

Our caffeine-free African honeybush blended with real freeze dried raspberries and all natural flavors. This blend is the complete danish in a cup: raspberries, cream cheese, even a hint of icing thrown in there. If you don’t believe me, you’ll just have to try it for yourself, but don’t take too long deciding, this one is going to go fast!

This came in the mail today! My first order from 52teas, but not my first experience with them. I’ve been pleased with them so far, so let’s keep the good teas coming!

This smells very strongly of raspberry. I’m not particularly fond of raspberries, but I certainly don’t dislike them. However, I love cheesecake and things with cream cheese, so I had to try this. I can also smell the honeybush base underneath all that raspberry.

It actually tastes like a danish! I can taste raspberries the most, but the aftertaste is sweet like cream cheese and frosting. Wow! I’m drinking this unsweetened and without milk. It doesn’t need sweetener, but I think a splash of milk would benefit this.

The only thing that is disappointing is that I wish there was more of a cream cheese taste. It’s barely there, even in the after taste.

Yum, the aftertaste really makes me happy. Today has been a good tea day!

I had this iced with dinner tonight. It could have used a little more sugar.

This tea is a new pantry staple. I love the Blueberry Danish one, and this one is just as delish!

Since it’s honeybush, I’ve let it steep for the length of the cup… and since it’s raspberry, I’m reminded of raspberry crisp, like my Oma makes. I taste plenty of summer raspberries. Yum! I don’t get too much of the cream cheese flavor, but there is a richness that reminds me of cheesecake.

This, to me, is the essence of 52teas – a delicious, uniquely flavored tea that within one sip you realize you cannot live without.

Wonder what this would taste like blended with the blueberry?!

Backlogging tea of last evening……

I received this sample from Mercuryhime. Thank you! I am always excited to try things from 52Teas. I would buy more, but it is hard, sometimes, to spend the money if you don’t know exactly what you are getting. Other times, one is very adventurous and cost never really comes into play. Isn’t it funny how we are all so different, and even different as an individual depending on the day?

Anyway, this was good. It might be ‘order’ good, but it was definitely ‘nice change of pace’ good. The raspberry was the most present, then there was a creaminess, and then a bit of breadiness. I really did like it, and if I did not have about 5other versions of flavored honeybush in my cupboard. Then again, I do think I would order as I don’t have a berry one……

Teapot method for 7 minutes.

Delicious. I really like this blend. It is berry-sweet and I like that little raspberry tartness at the tail end of the sip that sort of lingers on the tongue. I previously reviewed this tisane here:

This is way better than indulging in a late-night snack… it is warm and comforting and sweet without adding a lot of fat and calories. YUMMY!

This is the first cup of honeybush I’ve ever tasted, actually, and I was able to try this interesting flavor thanks to Kristin’s generosity. It’s not as strong as I had expected, and I’m not sure I can taste the cream cheese part, to be honest… just a really delectable raspberry tea. And I usually hate berry teas, so I’m really impressed. I’m learning not to say ‘never’ about any variety of tea. I’m really trying to use my imagination to get this stuff to match the photo of the gooey danish, but I think I’ll just settle for liking it as something simpler than what I expected.

Hi just received this in a swap with silvermage2000. Thanks! It’s pretty good.

I do think that most of the “flavor” is in the scent though. There’s a bit of raspberry tartness and the taste and I can definitely detect something like a buttery pastry in the scent. I’m not sure about the cream cheese aspect. Perhaps a bit of sweetener will bring this one to life.
I’m usually pretty happy with 52teas’ honeybush blends, but this one isn’t as great as I had hoped. :( Not enough flavor, I think. I totally loved the Lemon Lime Cheesecake Honeybush though. I wish he’d make more of that one!

The scent of the dry mix is spot on—cream cheese and all. I steeped this on the longish side of the recommended range (6-10 minutes) and am coming up way heavy on the raspberry and way light on the danish. May have to experiment a bit with timing.

But with that said, raspberry is a really nice complementary flavor to honeybush, which really does have a different (fruitier?) character than rooibos.

Having stuffed myself at lunch, this was a nice guilt-free dessert.

Had this for dessert after lunch thanks to David McGeorge!=D Cheesecake flavored teas have always interested me so as soon as I saw cream cheese I knew I had to try this. The suggested amount is 1tsp per cup and at 1.5g, that’s almost a full gram less than I normally use but I want to make this last as long as possible so I’ll try that 1st then bump it up to my normal 2.25g/6oz next time.

This is my 2nd honeybush, both of which have been flavored. I really should have had plain honeybush 1st as it’s nearly impossible to tell if the honeybush flavor comes thru the added flavorings or not.

The aroma of the raw leaf is lighter than I expected, but the aroma that is there is jammy. Unfortunately the flavor is almost identical. The raspberry jam, while light, is there and i can’t decide if I can taste the cream cheese or not. If I can, it’s very light. I definitely need to use more leaf.

Today has been a great tea day, I’ve brewed a hot and an iced tea each time I’ve heated up my kettle so I can have two at a time, a hot one to drink first and the iced to drink after. I’m surprised my bladder isn’t screeching at me!

I prepared this iced today, no additives, and it’s not quite as good as I remember it being hot. I think my last sample of this will have to be hot. Iced, it isn’t as berry creamy sour as I remember, it’s just lightly sweet and fruity. Oh well, moving on.

Another sample I received from AmazonV today.

I was so excited to try this one as I could smell it immediately once I opened the package. It smells delightful, raspberry, cream, baked goodness.

I brewed it for 8 minutes with nearly boiling water. The liquor is a brilliant red brown in my clear glass mug.

It smells divine, fruity bake-y with a hint of creaminess to it. The taste is berry, but not a tart ripe berry, more of a calm baked in raspberry coffee cake with cream cheese in the middle. I think this tea gets across its flavor quite accurately, I just don’t think it’s the tea I was craving this evening. May add a tad of sweetner to see if this improves.

Finished up the sample sent by AmazonV. I enjoyed this while it lasted, but do not see myself missing it down the line. So many rooibos blends, so little time :) I am happy I got to try this one (a few times). Glad I got to clear out a few samples today. May have to re-evaluate what I have in my cupboard.

This is another honeybush sample sent to me by the delightful Jenn!

I have a wee bit of dry, scratchy throat going on and wanted something hot and soothing but caffeine free. I don’t eat a lot of raspberry anything, but I do like raspberry filled Godiva chocolates, so I thought I would give this a go.

I steeped for five minutes. I think in future I would go a bit longer. The aroma is very berry-ish and somehow reminded me of Marco Polo. The taste is very fruity, partly from the honeybush base and partly the flavoring. I am really thinking “candy” now. I wanted it to be a bit stronger so I added a little less than a teaspoon of sugar to my 22 ounce pot. This is definitely warm and soothing. Somehow, I am not getting the cream cheese. I wonder if milk would bring that out more? But overall, a very good honeybush tisane! Thank you, Jenn!

Got my 52Teas order Today! This was during one of the so-popular-they-had-to-reblend periods. They even were so kind as to hold of shipping for one week while I drank room into my cupboard (now that’s customer service!)

I expected a sweet fruity tea…never had cream cheese in my tea so wasn’t sure what to expect.

The tea itself is not sweet, and is defiantly predominantly raspberry. the danish / cream cheese aspects aren’t coming through and the honeybush is only adding a slight undercurrent of ‘tea’ and contrast to the berry flavor.

Post-Steep Additives: 1/2 tsp German rock sugar

The German rock sugar seems to bring of the cream cheese flavor. I definitely think this tea needs to be steeped with sweetener.

Not so sure I’d get it again, but I will enjoy this bag.

With a name like that you would expect it to be super sweet. It isn’t. Most of @52teas have a great smell. This one does not have a very strong smell at all. What it lacks in smell it makes up in taste. It’s a very mellow tea, you can really taste the cream cheese.

Not the best Honeybush tea I have tasted but defiantly one to try.

Label says steep for 4-10 minutes but I would recommend 4 max.

You know I could have sworn that I’d already written a tasting note about this tea, but clearly I’m mistaken.

A longer steeping time seems to do well for this particular blend. It’s a pleasent mix of the lightly sweet honeybush and tart raspberry – and it actually is raspberry not hibiscus in disguise. The cream cheese flavours are more subtle but they’re in there, hanging out in the background, and they’re particularly noticeable as the tea cools off.

I think this tea is a great end-of-the-day blend for when I feel like something a little sweet but without the caffeine or calories.

Thank you again for sending me this little treat Courtney of Little Mew Brew found on Tea Trade.

I am trying this for the first time and just the sound of it had me waiting for the mail to show up. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations. I really didn’t taste raspberry just a slight unidentifiable fruitiness. The cream cheese gained strength the longer it cooled. However, I was looking for more of a balanced cup with an obvious raspberry favor. Still not terrible just not what I expected. I do feel fortunate to have tried it none the less and maybe with further steeping experimentation it will improve.

All I really want to say is omg.

This is amazing. I love it. It’s just the right amount of sweetness, it’s got a great raspberry flavor, and HOW does it taste like tart cream cheese in my tea?! Fruity, tart, and creamy, and the honeybush is just the right sweetener it needs, at least for me.

I am actually getting hungry for a danish from the aftertaste that’s lingering in my mouth.

I really like the raspberry taste in this tea but as others have mentioned I would have liked to have had more of the cream cheese part. It’s perfect for this time of the evening when you need something sweet and don’t want the caffeine.

Thanks Erin! For all the wonderful teas you sent me.

Nice. My first cup was steeped for 4 minutes and I found it to be a little too light on flavor. 6 minutes was perfect for me. My 13 year old brother had a cup of this, his first loose leaf experience d’awwww.
