Green Rooibos Bonita

Fruit Rooibos Blend by Adagio Teas

Light bodied with a natural subtle sweetness, green rooibos plays well with a variety of flavors. This summer fruit inspired blend of green rooibos with peaches, strawberries and citrus is juicy, nectar-like and supremely refreshing. This “palate pretty” medley of flavors is muy delicioso; hot or iced and naturally caffeine-free.

This one was sent to me forever and a half ago by Emilie and I’ve had it once before, but I never got around to reviewing it (this seems to be a common theme among the past few teas I’ve tried….)

I really like this one. It’s sweet and fruity and overall really tasty! I can’t wait to try it iced (Emilie was kind enough to send me a full retail sample bag of it so I have enough to make a few cups), because I feel like it will be even tastier! This one smells a lot like Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries (I had that same experience with another tea from Adagio…. and from Emilie, what a coincidence!). I really like it though. This one is good!

Thanks again Emilie!

This is alright hot, but, it’s really better iced. The flavors really pop. The strawberry and peach are the strongest flavors, but I can taste the citrus in the background. I like the combination of strawberry and peach – they have melded together almost seamlessly!

This is yum!

I’m really enjoying sampling the green rooibos teas from Adagio. This is the third flavor I’ve tried now. Only the Green Rooibos Key West is remaining.

This rooibos has a strong floral aroma with a sweet, nectar (think syrup from canned peaches) scent. In taste, i definitely taste a floral and nectar, but can’t pinpoint the flower. I bet this would be nice mixed with a jasmine green, for added floral taste. Although I do like most of my jasmine greens plain.

This smells amazing! It’s 3:14 and I need to stay up for a while longer before I can sleep. I’m looking for something to skirt the line between invigorating and relaxing. Impossible? Hah!
This is wonderfully citrusy and fruity smelling. Flavor-wise it’s pretty mediocre. Okay to sip on, but I’m not tasting any of the scents from it.

Brewing this up before bedtime thanks to Garret I’ve had this a while just haven’t got to the tasting notes. I haven’t tried too many green rooibos or green rooibos blends. I can make out the combination of citrus and peach the most. It’s good.

HOT (Cold review later) I can taste the orange and peach more than the strawberry but I think this is pretty tasty warm…looking forward to the cold, too! I would certainly have this again and again!

Thanks LiberTEAs!

Red Rooibos and I do not get along – I get headaches from it. But this Green Rooibos is my friend. I love the flavor of light green tea (no woodsy stink like the red rooibos offers), blending with peach and berry…although the peach is stronger than the berry. This would taste AMAZING iced, as it already tastes like summer in a cup.

It has a very nice scent – peachy mixed with citrus. However in terms of flavour it’s the green rooibos that I can taste the most prominently. It’s an interesting flavour, slightly herbal, slightly woody (though nowhere near as bad as red rooibos). The fruit notes are sticking to the background, though I wonder if steeping the tea longer might not bring them out.

Much better with a longer steeping time. I can taste more of the peachy and citrus flavours although they still don’t shout out to me, but at least I know they’re actually there. ;)

Smells strongly of strawberry and peach, which seems to mostly overwhelm the green rooibos and completely eliminate any smell of citrus (as it cooled the citrus smell did emerge). This green rooibos tea seems to be more about the different fruit flavors and less about the green rooibos. I don’t mind strawberry and peach, they are two of my favorite fruits and the combination does smell quite nice with the slight malty hint of green rooibos just peaking through yet I find myself wishing for more of the rooibos to “come out and play”.

Taste is dueling strawberry and peach flavors with a hint of green rooibos and something that may occasionally be what is left of the citrus coming through. I came here hoping for a green rooibos with some fruit hints and came away with a mostly fruit tea that has hints of green rooibos. I may try adding some additional green rooibos to see if that achieves more of what I was hoping for with this tea but all in all this will only be purchased in larger quantities if my wife likes it.

As it cools the citrus smell is being further revealed. I can see why many like this tea. It does have layers and a complexity in flavor, however I find myself wanting to blend it with something to truly go where I would want to take this tea.

Not my first choice in rooibos but definitely better and much more drinkable than the red rooibos vanilla.

As it cools I seem to be getting a slight strawberry kool-aid aftertase from this which means I definitely would want to keep this hot to try and prevent this taste from coming through. Hence in my opinion (to avoid the kool-aid flavor) brew it in small cups and drink it quickly before it gets too cold.

Mm I am a fan!
I steeped one perfect teaspoon for a good ten minutes. Usually I go for 5 minutes with a rooibos, but this one smelled so good it was begging for it. Yum!

The peach stands out the most, with strawberry in a close second and a nice orange in the background. It’s super tasty – I’m discovering how much I love green rooibos – especially citrus blends! I don’t really care for citrus tea otherwise but, like with Green & Fruity from DT, I’m becoming hooked and craving teas like this.

It’s quite sweet just on it’s own, but I did my usual rooibos latte and am even happier :)

Thanks be to SimplyJenW, myrooibos tea queen!

I enjoyed this tea very much, but I love to share things when I enjoy them… i love to see other people happy with tasty tea. So I gave the rest away to my bestie after we made a pot tonight and she loved it! :D

She’s the only friend I hang out with regularly who shares a tea obsession, mostly due to David’s Tea. And so, with my last sips, I fondly bid this tea farewell until I win the lottery and make every tea order I’ve ever wanted to make the end.

Just took my first sip of the New Green Rooibos Bonita from Adagio Teas. I was very excited to try this since I’m really looking hard for a Rooibos I like. This one is delish!! It smells and tastes “pretty” is the only way I can describe it. Very light on all the flavors- not one is comanding the other. The green rooibos, strawberry, orange, and peach flavors are playing together very nicely in this one!

This smells predominately strawberry and peach, both dry and wet, it reminds me Teavana’s Rooibos Tropica. It tastes like strawberry and peaches, the citrus is mostly in the aftertaste and becomes stronger in taste as it cools. I didn’t care for this one too much, especially as it started to cool, I guess it’s the way the citrus blended with the strawberry and peach. At any rate, I’ll stick with Teavana’s Rooibos Tropica.

This is a nice light, fruity tea. I can taste the peach and strawberry in it, but not the citrus. There is no tartness to it, yet somehow the fruit flavor manages to not be too sweet. It is very nectar-like, with a syrupy quality to it. Prepared with stevia.

I think I may need to use more tea when I brew this next, or use less water; my pot ended up being very light and flavour-less, so I had to add some agave to finish it. Going to hold off on the rating for now because I plan on brewing another pot tomorrow with hopefully better results, but I was expecting some really great things from this rooibos and was disappointed the first round—here’s to hoping next time gets better!

Conclusion: I think I just don’t like green rooibos as much as red rooibos. Even with lots of agave I’m just not getting any flavour. Someone who likes rooibos but would prefer it less sweet and a bit more medicinal might like this, or maybe I’m just spoiled by fantastic rooibos blends from local shops, but I’m just not a fan of this. Too bad, really.

Very pretty tea!
Light taste, fruity and sweet. Perhaps a little heavy on the peach, it’s hard to pick out some of the other flavors. Definitely going to try it iced next.

Steeped as advised by Adagio, with a bit more leaf.

Cold brewed this time overnight and then a bit more. This tea is so pretty (I know I said that last time too). http://www.flickr.com/photos/8126244@N06/7594323786

I’m getting some different flavors of this iced, something under the fruit. It may be the green rooibos but I haven’t had that plain so I’m not sure. The cold brewing seemed to mellow out the peach flavor which was all I could taste when I had it hot. Delicious and refreshing, may order some more to keep on hand for iced tea.

I tried this recently and immediately bought a bag of it. I like regular rooibos tea okay, but this is amazing. It has the taste of a nice green tea, which I love but can’t enjoy in the afternoons and evenings, and the floral flavors added to it make it divine. My new favorite non-tea tea!

The aroma is pretty sweet. The taste is exactly what one would expect from the touted summer fruit, and quite nice if a bit dull. I think a bit of honey might make it a good deal better.

Light, refreshing. I prefer it iced vs. hot. There is a pretty floral undertone to it, which I need to be in the mood for… but I think this blend would lend itself well to a lazy summer afternoon.

I’’m drinking the last bit of my sample hot, but iced is when this tea really shines. The peach and strawberry are the most prominent flavors for me, but the citrus lingers in the background and as an aftertaste. The sunflower petals, in my opinion, are simply for show and do not affect the taste. All in all, the fruity flavors blend harmoniously with the light, refreshing green rooibos.
