White Symphony

White Tea by Adagio Teas

An exquisite version of the White Peony variety, this is a delicate tea made from unopened leaf buds and the newest two leaves to open on the tea bush. For White Symphony, many more buds are included than is typical for classic White Peony. The liquor is very light, similar to Silver Needles. But the flavor is much more complex: faintly floral, warm and sugary like honeydew or white nectarine. Soft mouthfeel and clean, uplifting finish. If you’ve been enjoying White Peony, we invite you to savor this more refined version.

origin: China
type: white

This leaf is so fluffy that 2.5 gm is a heaping Tbsp. Dry leaf aroma fresh, green, hint of spice. Yes, Virginia, this tea IS mostly buds! 12 oz water, 200 F, 2 min yields clear gold liquor with mild floral scents. Astringency almost imperceptable, good flavor but hard to describe. If I were blind tasting, I would waver from green to oolong to white. Most enjoyable, especially since the buds winked at me from the infuser, evoking a smile at 5 am.

2nd resteep, 190F, 4 min. Roses, honeydew, chrysanthemum — I can’t pick just one. All I know is this — it blisses me out! g

Resteep at 195 F. 3 min was almost too long. It got a little strong. The scent of the golden liquid is like roses and the flavor is really complex with some astringency. This one is growing on me =)

I’M STILL AMAZED THAT WHITE TEA COMES OUT SO CLEAR.
Okay. This tea. The last of my white tea sample pack from Adagio.
Smells grassy from the bag. Steeping, it takes on a more grassy/slight floral aroma.
Aaaand… it tastes like grass. Not as grassy as the silver needles, but not as delicate as Snowbud.
I think Snowbud wins my vote from the 4 teas in the sample pack

I really loved this tea. This was part of a Sampler Pack of four White Teas and this was definitely my favorite. The Silver Needles and Snowbud was far too delicate for my sensibilities—I could barely distinguish it from hot water. My Aunt dubbed it “dirty water tea” for it’s color and lack of taste. The Silver Needle Jasmine overachieved in flavor—all I could taste was the jasmine—it was like drinking perfume. It had a “buttery” complex taste, crisp but lovely and full bodied, sweeter and less delicate and more flavorful than Silver Needle. I later tried White Peony from TeaSource. They’re very similar in taste, but I’d give the Adagio White Symphony a slight edge. I wonder if it’s the equivalent of “Silver Peony” on TeaSource?

Starts with a light grassy taste, opens into a full honey sweetness, ends on a floral note. All very subtle flavors.

White symphony is very close to one of my all-time favorite white teas, white peony. I love the light taste and the hint of melon. It’s a wonderful white tea to enjoy all day long. I typically re-infuse my white tea 5 times.

White Symphony reminds me of the Silver Needle I had last week. Only difference is that it’s even more subtle. It’s not spectacular but it’s pleasant and I enjoyed having it before leaving work. It didn’t quite mellow me out or leave an after taste, it was just a pleasant cup of tea. I would say average and most likely try it again

Golden, light-bodied, very gentle sweetness in aroma and flavor.

This was the first white tea (not counting Jasmine Silver Needle) that I had ever tasted. I really liked it a lot. It was smooth and light, without being grassy. I bought Adagio’s white tea sampler, and I hope I like the other teas as much as I liked this one.

2.25g/6oz purified water… hoping to get at least 6 steeps out of this like I did for their Silver Needle.

3rd steep: 9min. Just as nice!

Steeps 4-7. YUMMY!

2nd steep w/ roasted red pepper hummus and true north almond crisps… YUMMY!

Delicate, sweet, floral. Very nice cup. Be sure to steep at the proper temperature so you don’t burn it, use a bit more leaves than your usual teaspoon per cup, and steep for seven minutes.

My last cup from this sample tin. Very happy with this white. All the adjectives I’ve used in the past still apply: delicate, sweet, floral. This is a version of white peony (which I love) and is like a white peony with all of its positive traits amplified but still balanced. (If that doesn’t make sense, just think white peony, but better.)

I’m always up to trying new teas and I purchased a can of this from Adagio relying on reviews from other people on this site and from the Adagio site. I’m glad I took the chance because this tea is very good, without adding anything else. I can also give it a thumbs up! Get some and enjoy! fR

This is going to be my tea of the day at work. I really like this tea. You should have some.
