From Adagio Teas

According to the International Ice Cream Association, Vanilla is by far the most popular flavor, getting a full 23% of all ice cream consumption. Inspired by this love, Adagio has created Vanilla Green Tea, combining the rich, warm dark sugar aroma of vanilla with delicate Chinese green tea. Soothing, sweet and very ‘beany’ vanilla fragrance (like warm sugar cookies made with fresh vanilla beans).

Steep at 180° for 2-3 minutes.

Finished this one off tonight! I really enjoyed this tea. It has a nice flavor. The vanilla is creamy and compliments the green. The green tea is slightly vegetal and sweet. The vanilla is subtle but you can still tell that it’t there. I like that I can taste the green before the vanilla flavor.

I love vanilla black tea so I had to try this one. the vanilla smell on the dry leaves is quite nice but honestly I’m not enjoying the flavor as much as I thought I would. Somehow vanilla just seems to go better with black tea in my opinion anyways. It is light and I can barely taste the green tea but it’s definitely there

Preparation
1 tsp
rosebudmelissa

I tend to prefer my desert teas to be blacks. The flavors just seem to cooperate better.

I’ve had this tea in my cupboard for a good while and just hadn’t gotten around to it. I wish I had tried it sooner!

I made it iced, as it’s still blazingly hot here in the ATL. The leaves are very fragrant, smelling sweet and almost marshmallowy. I can tell it’s the same vanilla Adagio uses in their black vanilla tea, as well as their Earl Grey cremes. As far as the actual green tea goes, it’s low-to-mid-grade sencha. Flat and dark green, with almost no whole pieces.

It brews up to a pale greenish yellow, as one would expect. The flavor is deliciously soft, creamy vanilla. However, it completely mutes the actual tea aspect. I know a lot of you would see this as a bad thing. I can’t say that I don’t exactly, but I’m really not a fan of green teas in the first place. I just never really developed the pallate. Also, I’m pretty crazy about vanilla, so… yeah. I like it! I’m glad I have it. It’s like a dessert without the calories and I could see myself getting it again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. I wasn’t really expecting a whole lot, and some vanilla flavors taste incredibly fake. Not so, here. When it is hot the scent wafts up and it smells absolutely delightful! Upon first sip, the vanilla is very rich and pleasant and plays better with the green tea taste than I could have ever anticipated. Definitely tastes like dessert in a cup!

Vanilla green is my go-to tea, any day of the week. It smells and tastes of warm cookies. With a pinch of raw sugar and some honey, I am whisked away to a perfect world where nothing can bother me and it’s just me and my tea. After reading a few tasting notes by others, I would absolutely love to make a vanilla green tea cupcake of sorts. I feel this tea would be the perfect ingredient! For $2 to sample it for yourself, you can’t go wrong (unless, of course you choose not to try it). I’m glad I did!

I liked, but not on its own. I liked it better adding it to another tea, preferably a fruit-flavored tea.
