Foxtrot

Herbal Rooibos Blend by Adagio Teas

Like the dance that inspired its name, our Foxtrot tea is an overnight success that will leave you giddy with joy. It is an herbal cocktail of Egyptian chamomile, South African Rooibos and fresh peppermint leaves. A soothing blend of familiar tastes that produces a pleasantly original combination. It is entirely caffeine-free. The spring in your step is due entirely to its enticing taste.

Meghann sent me the best box of tea ever today!! I can’t believe how much was tucked into it, and I could barely decide what to try first (and, yes, I did the happy, new tea dance whilst I was opening and going through the box). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Finally decided on this one to have first. It’s my first Adagio (that I can remember having, at least), and it’s decaf. I’ve never had a blend with chamomile and rooibos before, either, so this is an extra-special treat.

Normally I brew chamomiles for 5 minutes, and rooibos blends for 10. So we’re going to go with 5 to start, and take it from there. I also completely ignored the “2 tsps to 8 oz water” instructions on the pack and went with just 1 heaping tsp.

Love the smell…all chamomile and mint. I don’t taste much of the rooibos, but there’s this hint of it at the very beginning and very end of the sip, and I think it gives this tea a robustness that it would lack otherwise. Taste is very similar to Celestial Seasoning’s Vanilla Sleepytime tea, though this one is much stronger on the mint. I think that this could become really overpoweringly minty if steeped for much longer than 5 minutes. As it is, my tongue is tingling rather nicely, and I can feel it warming me up from the inside out. This one will be great for those icky winter nights when you want something warm and soothing. Love it!!

I hardly know where to start. I don’t like rooibos. I am not hugely fond of mints unless they are black mints.

This sounded intriguing in the swap though (sorry, I have lost track of who sent what, it was all a flurry for a week or so there).

This is a wonderful tea. Refreshing, crisp, light. Very springy and yet would not be out of place at a holiday table either, after a cranberry dessert, possibly. Before bed to calm the tummy after all that bounty of food. :)

I can taste all of the flavors – mint, chamomile, vanilla.. It reminds me a lot of Boston Tea Company’s Lemon Honey Chamomile Rooibos – which I also like a lot. I think, though, that on balance, I like this one better. The mint adds just a bit more deliciousness.

This one is going on the shopping list to make sure I keep it in the cupboard!

Well, the peer pressure worked. I bought a bag.

I’m not a fan of chamomile, but this blend is pretty good. I love me some rooibos and I think this is the 1st “anything” that I like it blended with. I still haven’t found a flavored rooibos that I like. :(

I drank two cups hot and it kind of felt medicinal in a way. This isn’t a bad thing, but I might reserve this tea for sore throat, feeling funky days. I’ll try it iced next, since that seems to be getting rave reviews.

Perk: after drinking, my breath is feeling quite minty clean.

I don’t hate this. I was expecting to hate this, but I don’t.

Not a fan of rooibos or chamomile. I’m okay-ish with peppermint but much prefer spearmint. But for some reason, this mix kind of works for me. I mean, I’m not going to suddenly convert and drink this every night. But every so often, I might find the desire to have a little.

Oddly enough, I get a chocolate taste from it. No clue why. Not heavy chocolate, sort of the aftertaste from some Girl Scout Thin Mints.

By far one of my favorite teas. Somehow this combination of peppermint, rooibos and chamomile makes for a chocolatey-smelling, intensely creamy elixir that is wonderfully calming.

I’ve been seeing TeaEqualsBliss rave about this tea for a while now, so I added it to my list of teas to try while I’m over here. Just coming to the end of the first cup now, and I can see what all the fuss is about. I generally don’t go for rooibos or even rooibos blends very much, but this is a great mix. The fresh taste of the mint is present from the first sip right through to the aftertaste, but I can really feel the hit of chamomile as well. And yeah, the rooibos needs to be there, too, because it sort of brings everything together. So sad that I can’t get this at home, because I’d really like to give it a permanent place in my tea cupboard.

I’m leaving the rest of this with my friend when I move on to the next part of my holiday tomorrow, so I thought I’d better have some more while I could. I’ve belatedly remembered that I used to really like Twinings’ chamomile and spearmint, and Foxtrot is very reminiscent of that. Just, you know, better. I hate to say it, but I think that’s because of the rooibos.

First impression of the tea is that I am very happy with it and this will be something that I buy again. I really like how the flavors blend to create both a taste and aroma of cream. I’ve used chamomile tea to help calm me down before bed in the past, but this tea has a nice jolt to it with the rooibos and peppermint included here. Looking forward to experimenting with this tea. Initial steep was 1.5 tsp, 180ยบ for 7 minutes.

This combination of teas turns out amazing every time. I’ve described the taste as creamy and minty at the same time. I love having this tea any time of day but my favorite time is right after lunch/ early afternoon. The chamomile is really calming and the peppermint comes in and really gives that nice punch of flavor while the rooibos rounds out the flavor really well. This is another tea that re-steeps really well so you really get your money’s worth with this tea. There is no reason to put fresh leaves in for every cup. Just adjust your brew time by adding a minute to each steep.

Mmmm peppermint. A new favorite evening tea, relaxing and tasty. I can definitely taste the chamomile, and the rooibos kind of blends in with the rest of tea. Which is good right? It is a blend after all. I think I will buy some more of this and save it for those days I need a little “feel better” tea.

Edit: second steeping mellows out the peppermint a bit. I think the blend could use a bit more rooibos.

All out of this. :( Threw in some extra chamomile. Really tasty, need to buy more!

For all you tea lovers I hate to say this, but I was recently introduced to tea by a friend I work with. Before having “real” tea, I was a celestial seasonings junkie and didn’t know there was a difference between it and loose leaf tea. My favorite tea of all time was Sleepytime tea so my friend recommended Foxtrot to me. I have to say that from the moment I opened the bag I loved the smell of the tea and after steeping it couldn’t believe how wonderful this tea is. I can taste all the mint and this tea is so smooth and relaxing. This is my new bedtime tea and I will probably be drinking it daily. Thanks so much Brandice.

And now, herbal break! Since I tend to be prone to bouts of insomnia, I try not to encourage it by switching to either weaker or just decaf teas after around 5 or so. I haven’t been as good about that as usual lately because I have had so much black tea to try, but now that I am off my drowsiness inducing cough medicine, it is probably time to pick up the habit again.
Foxtrot! What can I say that hasn’t been said already? I met Foxtrot while visiting my brother on vacation, and we hit it off immediately! I knew then that I was going to have to invite Foxtrot over to my place some day. From hearing other people’s descriptions, I had convinced myself that Foxtrot just had too much going on, there was no way that combination could possibly produce anything like a balance. But in fact, Foxtrot is perfectly balanced, everything just fits together to create a whole greater than the some of its parts. Basically, Foxtrot is a great companion for an evening’s drink. Although sometimes the chamomile is a bit strong for my taste. (The writing exercise kind of fell apart there at the end, oh well!)

I am finally getting to the end of the tin of this, which I have now had for (mumble) months. While in Japan, since it and the almond biscotti were the only teas I brought with me, I was able to get over my aversion to it, which is great – and I basically lived off the stuff – especially during the week that I was STRUCK DOWN by delicious greasy ramen. Omg, it was SO GOOD (this is real ramen noodle soup we are talking about, not instant noodles) but it was SO full of fat that my stomach – and the rest of me, rebelled. Then it was Foxtrot to the rescue! Honestly, between the mint and chamomile it is very nearly the perfect belly soothing tea. It just needs some ginger to round out the belly soothing herb trifecta.

Today, I had a pretty heavy meal (accompanied by pretty heavy beer :D ) for dinner and was craving some foxtrot to clean out my system a bit. Now I come to think of it, someone else was talking about using something for detox – matcha I think? I should try that. But not in the evening.

I see a light at the end of the giant tin of foxtrot tunnel! Not that I don’t love foxtrot, but turns out that I am not immune from becoming bored with it. It doesn’t help that chamomile is such a distinctive taste and tends to show up in a bunch of other teas as well. So…soon it will be goodbye, foxtrot – hopefully before my teafrog order gets in so I have at least one tin ready for it. It’s been swell, but I’ve moved on! I’ve embraced a method of tea drinking more befitting to my extremely short attention span. One in which I eschew such silly labels as “a staple tea” (except for Earl Grey, I will always love you Earl Grey!) and live in the tea moment (don’t worry, I’m not writing carpe tea-em again. Oh wait I just did. Sorry!) I’m a free spirit, foxtrot! You can’t tie me down!

We’ll always have Yokohama though.

So, the nice thing about the state of my belleh this past week is that it appears to have wiped out my aversion to foxtrot developed during my previous long bout of feeling ickyness. So, I was able to enjoy this delicious, stomach soothing, caffeine free tea for the first time in a looooooong while. I’ve been drinking it a LOT and it is still great. I’ve been waffling about whether to get more of it when my current tin runs out, but I think I’m back on the side of getting moar, moar, MOAR.

Backlogging and De-cupboarding.

Well, so long Foxtrot, and thanks for all the -fish- tea. Almost in time for my teafrog order, too! Hurrah!

Foxtrot is my first pick when I need something warm and pleasant, yet not overly powerful or challenging (or bitter, it seems impossible to oversteep this). A great pre-lunch or mid-afternoon tea when – unencumbered by accompanying food – you can enjoy it to the fullest.

The flavor blend is fairly incredible, as it tastes like none of the individual ingredients, but instead gives off a warm, friendly – and importantly, not overpowering – mellow sweetness. The mint lingers but a moment, and then leaves to let you enjoy the next smooth mouthful.

Erm, well…it’s different. I get the chamomile and mint upfront, but the rooibos is kinda hiding in the background. It’s an interesting evening time option. It has grown on me since the first time I’ve had it and I realized that I should steep it longer….but, it doesn’t make me want to dance (maybe dance like Elaine Benes, but not a suave foxtrot). And I’m not too sure that I’ll reorder even a sample tin again.

Sorry this is so choppy, but that’s kinda how I feel about it right now. M

There’s nothing like a hot cup of tea bursting through with the cool flavor of mint. The spearmint in this tea seems very fresh (it’s dried but not stale), and very intense. The rooibos adds a bit to the flavor, and dyes the brew dark red. While the chamomile flowers can hardly be tasted at all, you might, as if assassinated by ninjas, find yourself the victim of their soporific power.

Aah, Foxtrot. I’ll admit, the first thing about this that got my attention was the name. I have a soft spot for theme naming things so Adagio always manages to pique my interest with their music and dance themed names.

I love the individual ingredients by themselves, chamomile, rooibos, and peppermint. Somehow the blend of all of these doesn’t exactly taste like any of them but it does still have aspects of each flavor. The mysterious creamy aspect that others have mentioned is definitely there and I love it.

I had a strange idea to try and make foxtrot popsicles while I was cleaning out the tupperware cabinet and found one of those set-of-four popsicle molds that I don’t think I’ve seen since the summers of my youth. After waiting a few hours for the popsicles to freeze…. well it wasn’t the greatest idea. At best, it tastes like foxtrot, at worst (roughly every other lick) it tastes strangely bitter and medicinal. Where does that even come from? I think I’ll just drink it normally in the future.

I absolutely adore this tea. I read a review that described it as incredibly smooth, and I think that’s the best way to describe it. It’s soft and almost silky and the contrast between the hot tea and fairly subtle peppermint is very nice. I don’t think it tastes medicinal as I’ve heard others do. Great evening tea or for when you’re sick.

A fab herbal blend. I generally drink this in the afternoon but this morning it called to me. The roobios really brings everything together.

Looking for a calming tea when you are feeling sick? Then Foxtrot from Adagio is the answer!

I love how calm this tea smells during brewing. And I love the minty taste. You will feel instantly relaxed when sipping a cuppa Foxtrot tea. It’s definitely one to keep on hand during cold & flu season as it will relax your senses.

This is a great, unique herbal blend that I had a sample. But here’s the thing..I have a big bag of chamomile and Vanilla Roiboos at home and all I needed was peppermint. So, now I make my own blend, sometimes using spearmint.
I suggest doing that, so you can do peppermint or spearmint when the mood strikes….
but it’s a nice blend if you want something already mixed ;)

One of my favorite herbal teas. the mint really blends everything together. I love having a cup before bed, it’s a sweeter tea but not so much that I couldn’t drink several cups of it. A great full bodied herbal I like it a lot.
