From Adagio Teas

Rooibos herbal tea from South Africa infused with the delicate scent of night-blooming jasmine flowers. If you enjoy classic jasmine tea, keep this one on hand, too, for when you need a caffeine-free treat. Mellow and smooth, delicately sugary notes from the Rooibos. Lingering airy jasmine fragrance, like fine Jasmine Pearl tea (which tends to be more delicate and lightly perfumy). Rounded, fresh finish.

Ingredients: Jasmine-scented red rooibos herbal infusion

Steeping Instructions: Steep at 212° for 5 minutes.

FROM A ROOIBOS AND JASMINE LOVER: I do not like this.
Rooibos is my favorite type of tea, and jasmine is my favorite flavor. I drink a LOT of rooibos herbal tea and a LOT of jasmine silver needle white tea. I obviously had to try this tea! I REALLY wanted to like it. However, I wasn’t sure about the blend, so I got this as a free sample from Adagio.

The dry tea leaves are red/orange needles, but they look shorter (broken?) than other rooibos teas I drink. The liquor is a deep orange/red.

The smell was a bit confusing. It smells mainly of rooibos, honey, and a weird jasmine-ish note (the smell is rather sharp). The taste, like the smell, is confusing (although it tastes a little bit better than the smell because the taste is more subtle). I don’t think this combo works well. The warm, honey notes of the rooibos does not fit with the floral, distinctive flavor of jasmine. Adagio says they blend this tea with natural jasmine flavor, but it could have fooled me… it smells artificial. It tastes better if you don’t inhale while drinking it. I will try to finish the mug, but….meh. UPDATE: It gets worse the more of it I drink. The smell is slightly revolting and the taste is perfumey. I won’t end up buying the full-size package.

1 heaping tsp for one mug of tea. Steep for 5 mins.
Ingredients (on the package): rooibos tea, natural jasmine flavor.

Bleh. This one was totally undrinkable. The taste and smell were very artificial. I’m glad this was a free sample because I wouldn’t want to waste my money on this awful tea.

I very surprised at how much I enjoyed this pairing. To me, rooibos is more of a sweet tea that goes with foodier, sweeter flavors. The jasmine is very floral and gives you the perfumey aftertaste but plays remarkably well with the jasmine. A solid option for those who like jasmine scented green teas and such but want to avoid caffeine. However, I do prefer this flavor in a green.

I’m backlogging this just because I can’t believe I’ve never written about how awful this tea is yet. I should have never ignored the other reviewers comment about it being tea in a cup because that’s EXACTLY what it tastes like. A very very strong artificial scent and taste. And the worst part is I have a whole 6 ounces of it to deal with. :‘(
The only reason I haven’t given it an absolute zero is because it didn’t make me vomit, but other than that, its as low as it gets.

It was very floral smelling and had a unique taste. It’s one of those teas that you cant nail down the taste to a t, yet you still end up liking it.

I did not like this tea at all.

It was too perfume-y. While the tea is in my mouth, I don’t taste much but rooibos, but once I swallowed the tea, it left this very strong flowery taste in my mouth. The fragrant of Jasmine was just too strong for me. Into the trashcan. :(

Jasmine tea is good, and roobios tea is good. Together they make an interesting combination, but each entity loses that which makes it special.
