River Song Tea Blend

Black Herbal Rooibos Blend by Adagio Teas

created by: Cara McGee
I could describe this tea, but that would be spoilers.

Inspired by BBC’s Doctor Who, which I am in no way affiliated with. This is created purely for my own enjoyment.

ingredients:
earl grey moonlight, coconut, rooibos lemon cloud

This is a tasty blend!
Nicely lemony, a bit creamy. The flavors are bright & tangy, just like River Song herself!

This morning while I was getting ready for my gig, my son’s Drew & Leif fixed breakfast! Leif steeped a large pot of this tea, which he refers to as ‘Lemon Song’, to go with breakfast. It’s a mix of earl grey moonlight, rooibos lemon cloud, & coconut. It’s a bright & lemony brew, I don’t really taste the coconut. Purchased because of our love of Dr. Who, of course! :)

Sipdown!
The boys & I are enjoying our final pot of this Clara McGee fandom blend. It’s been a fun blend: lemony, sassy, a little creamy.
We’re also contemplating our next Adagio order, reading about the 3 Clara Oswin Oswald blends, & finishing our breakfast.
Next up: out into the garden! So much work to do!

Okay so this is pretty good too. I noticed these Adagio teas have a certain… je ne sais quoi… smoothness or mellowness. I like it. I still like the TARDIS blend better. (I still dream of that blackberry mouthfeel.)

This is nice and creamy and enjoyable. My only complaint is that I would expect more attitude/zing from River.

Yum, this is pretty great! Thanks cavocorax! Although, agreed: would expect something not so mellow from River :DDD (She’s so totally my fave, can’t help it.)

Anyway, before I read the spoilers! I thought it was citrusy-caramel, and wasn’t far off – coconutty citrus, I guess? It’s a good mix.

I really enjoy this blend and the fun illustration on the packaging! It’s light, yet substantial at the same time and the lemon adds a little bit of a tart punch to the smooth cream background. It is like River Song, after all!

Steeping & serving notes: When I tried this one plain, I wasn’t super impressed – it just screamed “lemon & bergamot!” at my taste buds. But it smelled so wonderfully, I knew it had promise. I played around a bit with steeping (I only leave it in there for a couple minutes, now) and added a splash of almond milk and one piece of rock sugar… and it’s great! It enhances the creaminess and cuts down on that super strong bergamot taste (to which I tend to be sensitive).

So, when I found out that River will be returning for next week’s finale episode, I did a little happy dance! And then I promptly brewed a cup of this tea to celebrate. :-)

See previous tasting notes.

Okay, had another cup of this today, and managed to get more lemon bits in there. This time it was great without any additions! It was a much more well-balanced cup.

I have found that it tastes best when hot – after it cools down, the Early Grey (read: bergamont) becomes almost overpowering,

This is my favourite tea I’ve tried so far from Adagio! I tried it while at work and my coworker was so intrigued by the scent that I made her a cup of it as well. The earl grey moonlight has the extra cream and sweetness already in the leaves, and the lemon and coconut soften it so nicely. It’s warm and cozy and it smells divine in the bag.

Cara captures yet another character perfectly. Smooth, yet exciting. A promise of adventure, whether you like it or not.

The creamy earl grey moonlight is perfectly complemented by coconut. The rooibos barely comes out, but the lemon is there very lightly. All in all a great tea. I think my brewing on it could do with some tweaking.

I definitely forgot about this and overbrewed it. Luckily the flavor wasn’t much affected. I think it was just a little more…cream? than I was wanting this morning, between the earl grey moonlight and the coconut.
