My very first Ahmad Tea and I am excited! Their press kit info is wonderfully designed, btw! As for this tea…it’s a bit bitter but naturally bitter – typical for some Black Currants. I prefer the juicer kind of currants, however. But for bittery-type this is pretty good! It’s very flavorful for a bagged tea. Nice flavored black for a standby, I suppose.

I have never had blackcurrant anything before, so having this tea is a real step out of my comfort zone. If this tastes like blackcurrants, then I really need to have more blackcurrants in my life.

It tastes a little bitter with a faint splash of juice on the back of my tongue. It mixes really nicely with the black tea. The flavor is strong but not overwhelming. I had a carmello candy bar before this and it really helps get the sweet out of my mouth without being overwhelmingly bitter.

Drinking the last of this… I think it’s fairly old as I can’t remember buying it! This blend is on par with other black currant blends I’ve tried. None of them has really stood out much from another, to be honest. Decent cup of black, slightly fruity tea.

My first experience with black currant tea. Has nice fruit notes, but not overly cloying like other fruit-based teas I’ve tried. I’ve been liking it with a small splash of soymilk.

I think this is the same tea, though Ahmad now calls it Blackcurrant burst. It has a smooth Ceylon black base, but I don’t taste any blackcurrants. I spent quite a bit of time in England while I was pursuing an advanced degree, and I came to love blackcurrant jam. I cannot sense any blackcurrant flavor, perhaps it is my cold, though I had no trouble tasting the lemon and lime, and peach and passionfruit earlier today. I’ll have to try it again in a few days before rating the tea.

This is my second cup of Ahmad’s Blackcurrant tea, and I did taste more of the blackcurrant this time, though it tasted more like unsweetened sour blackcurrants (even after adding sugar) than like the blackcurrant jam I used to eat in Britain. I woud say I like this the least of Ahmad’s fruit teas (which I generally love).

I was surprised at the flavor here. Usually fruity teas don’t seem to have much flavor. There was a nice black currant taste here. Otherwise, a mild black tea base.

I am not a good reviewer for black currant tea. I used to consider it a real treat. Now, I can’t get past the smell. Don’t know if it’s me or the manufacturers. This at least had a fruity scent under the awful one and the taste was ok.
