From American Tea Room

Looking for a lighter, creamier version of our Classic Ear Grey? Then our Organic Lady Grey is the tea for you. Created by blending fine quality Chinese Black Tea scented with Sicilian Bergamot, chocked full of pure vanilla beans for a rich creaminess – Lady Grey is the sweet alternative to our Earl Grey Shanghai. Violets and Mallow Blossoms add to the beauty of this lovely tea.

Sipdown! There was only a little left after yesterday, too little to keep around. That makes sipdown no. 13 for the year 2014.

Yep, it’s a nice, light version of an Earl Grey crème and good at what it does. It deserves a place in my personal Earl Grey pantheon.

This is the second free sample that I received from ATR with my last order. I was curious to try their take on an Earl Grey Cream, even though I have plenty of a different EGC already in my cupboard (the Tea Spot’s). I have to say that I rarely reach for EGCs, even though I enjoy them. I guess if I want bergamot I usually want a straight up Earl.

Anyway, the scent on this one is nice and creamy, with bright citrusy bergamot. I have to say that, although pretty tasty, the flavor is not quite as good as the Lemon Drop that I had a few days ago from this company. Possibly it has something to do with the base tea… this one seemed a bit thinner, or something. It had a light creaminess but I think if you are going to go EGC you gotta go really creamy, and it just wasn’t quite there. But I did happily drink the entire cup down, and I did enjoy the cup.

just having awakened from an inadvertent allergy-fueled nap, i thought i’d need a quick jolt of, um, well, anything. brewed a cup of this latest acquisition. the dry tea is quite pretty, and smells delish! the brew itself is dark and deep, and not quite as layered and full as i’d hoped from the smell of the dry leaves, however i might not have brewed quite long enough. as it is, it is quite nice, and i’ll have to revisit sometime soon.

American Tea Room sent me this as a sample and I appreciated the lightness (I’ve been drinking a lot of hardcore Earls lately.) This one gives the pleasant sensation of a pure bergamot mixed with vanilla ice cream. Very well rounded—and I can almost hear the ice cream man coming down the block.

I could not finish my cup, It has everything I thought I loved in it but I’m beginning to beleive I don’t like vanilla tea anymore and this reminds me alot of ATR vanilla tea with a little bit of bergamot and some flowers. I hope it is just a phase and I will like it again when the weather changes because my mom has a 24 hour layover in London and I have requested a vanilla tea that I loved from Harrods. I think its just me since most reviewers seem to like it. If I figure out how I like it I will be sure to update.

Poppies are in bloom, awwww!

Anyway, here’s another backlog from the weekend. I cooked up most of the sample of this that ATR sent me as an extra. It wasn’t exquisite but pretty agreeable. It reminded me some of Zen Tea’s Earl Grey Creme (which is yum x 10!) but it wasn’t quite as fancy.

It made for a nice cup that accompanies one while they are focusing on something else. I wouldn’t get more of it and, besides, when it comes to ATR’s greys I am enjoying their Earl Grey Shanghai much more – which is what I am having right now.

Agreed about Zen Tea Earl Grey Cream!

It’s so delicious! Could be my favorite earl grey themed tea.

I received this as a sample with an order. I did some reorganizing of my teas last night, and I decided to try to sipdown the teas which I have 3 servings or less of. There was just enough in this sample to make a small pot of tea. This was enjoyable, but not my favorite. This is a very subtly flavored Earl Grey Creme with a bit of violet. The violet threw me at first, because sometimes bergamot can smell floral to me, but this smelled like there had to be something else in it besides the bergamot and vanilla. Florals can be difficult to detect for me when there’s citrus too. I wonder if anyone else has that issue.

i just had a cup of EG Shanghai, i think I need it. Romanoff and Lady Grey just too subtle for me

The Earl Grey Shanghai sounds interesting. Ack. I did not need to be reminded of the ATR free shipping! At this moment in time, I just dump everything that comes into my “promotions” tab in gmail before I can even be tempted by them…

It’s lovely. I don’t get much bergamot, but it’s a nice, slightly floral vanilla tea. I think I have a general disappointment in floral teas because I want to really taste those flowers, and aside from jasmine, I almost never do – it’s nearly always trapped in the scent and aftertaste. That’s true here as well. It’s still delicious, but I don’t know if it’s a keeper for me.
