I swear, the first time I tried it, I could barely taste the matcha, but now after a few days of letting it sit and trying it again, it seems more present. Maybe the dark chocolate needed to breathe, like wine? Anyway, it’s good, but I recall liking Vosges (no longer available) green tea chocolate bar more for it’s more in-your-face flavor. The other non-tea “It’s Chocolate” bars I’ve tried are pretty good though, especially the Pina Colada. I may need to put in another order, or just find time to visit Angelina’s Tea shop in person again!
"It's Chocolate" Extra Dark 72% Chocolate with Izu Matcha Tea
Green Herbal Blend by Angelina's Teas
The Dominican Republic – La Red Candy Bar This Bean is a very solid, certified organic trinitario, with all the flavor characteristics typical of beans from this region; earthy, fruity with a hint of spice. Notice the strong taste of cherries. This bean has an inviting beginning, a flavorful mid range with a hint of bitterness and a clean finish. La Red takes some getting used to but is definitely worth the effort. This Bar is made exclusively for Angelina’s Teas. We have taken the La Red bar which is 62% Cocoa and made it extra dark with 72% cocao. Then we added the Izu Matcha powdered Japanese green tea to the bar. This bar has about 7% green tea in the bar. Making this not only a great tasting bar, but each bar has all the health benefits of 2 cups of green tea. Hand made here in Winston Salem by chocolate enthusiast Rom Still. Founder of “It’s Chocolate”.
