Organic Vanilla Bean Black Tea

Black Tea by Arbor Teas

This organic, Fair Trade Certified tea offers a delicious synergy between excellent North Indian tea and rich, creamy vanilla. Organic vanilla beans were added in the Fall of 2008 to make this blend even more decadent than before! Excellent with milk, this tea is great for dessert. We recommend adding a bit of sugar or honey to satisfy a sweet tooth. This Vanilla Black Tea, as with all of our flavored blends, uses only the highest quality teas, essential oils and botanical ingredients, insuring an excellent cup every time!

Backlog:

I started my day with this, but because it is Monday and my Mondays are weird, I found myself on the go before I could sit down and write about it.

A very pleasant vanilla black tea. After reading my SororiTea Sister’s (TeaEqualsBliss) tasting note on this tea, I find that we are on different sides of the spectrum with this tea. Interestingly enough, though, we rated the tea the same. We both like it, but I think we both were experiencing different things with this tea.

I find this to be really less sweet than some vanilla teas I’ve had. In fact, I think that this would be a really good vanilla tea for someone who might typically find vanilla teas to be on the cloying side, because while this is rich and creamy but it isn’t overly so. It is sweet, but not quite as sweet as some other vanilla teas might be. In fact, the tea is more of the focus here, with the vanilla playing the accent flavor role as it should be. A really good vanilla, but not the vanilla for someone who wants the vanilla flavor to be in their face. This is not as sweet as most vanilla teas out there.

As for me, I like it a lot!

I had this one many hours ago! I am going to try it again tomorrow with longer tasting notes…first impressions, tho, I like it! It’s a sweeter vanilla (bean) taste and doesn’t leave a funky aftertaste which is nice! It wasn’t overly strong and it was different from most Vanilla’s I have had so far…a neat difference!

Some people associate “vanilla” with “boring” yet this tea is far from boring! As stated in my brief tasting notes yesterday there was a little something that I couldn’t quite put my finger – or should I say tongue on – for aroma and even taste. Well, The aroma is very dessert like – very sweet and more of a naturally sugary…very true tasting and very much vanilla bean flavor instead of just your average vanilla faux-flavor. It’s smooth, too!

The aroma is really something! It’s vanilla bean – sure – but there is a little something there…maybe…something close to fruit but I could tell you what kind of fruit and it is very subtle.

Regardless this is memorable and different and I find it to be very good!

Got my teas from Arbor Teas less than 18 hours after I placed the order… I didn’t even know they were downstairs until my husband came home. Huzzah for local delivery.

The dry leaves smell like good vanilla extract… somewhat alcoholic, but delicious. The taste is soft and smooth, and works pretty well with a bit of sugar. Yum-my.

Edit: The empty cup now smells like toasted marshmallows. Weird and awesome.

Love this tea. I use a bit more sugar than I would otherwise deem acceptable in tea, but it works well with the vanilla.
