Organic Chun Mee Green Tea

Green Tea by Arbor Teas

This classic Chinese green tea is carefully hand-rolled during manufacture to attain the delicate eye-brow shape that it is known for. For this reason, Chun Mee is also referred to as “Precious Eyebrows.” This organic and Fair Trade Certified tea produces a medium-bodied golden infusion with a slight fruity tartness that some liken to plums. A very faint smokiness can also be detected from the vigorous rolling and firing process.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of Arbor Teas’ business philosophy. In addition to offering an exclusively organic selection of teas, they recently became the first tea company to offer their whole catalog in 100% backyard compostable packaging. They’ve also carbon-offset the entire supply chain of their products, from origin to the customer, making Arbor Teas the greenest option for Earth-conscious tea drinkers, and one of few tea companies recognized by Green America.

First things first: This tea is hand rolled with a slight arch to make it look like eyebrows! How Bizzare and intriguing! The dry leaves do look like very tiny eyebrows…maybe for a mouse, or a chipmunk. The dry leaves smell very sweet and grassy. After steeping, the first thing I noticed was that all the leaves almost completely expanded and unfurled! The unfurled leaves are the tea liquor was a medium amber color and smelled almost cinnamon-like, with hints of fruitiness and a darker scent, that reminded me of fresh-baked cinnamon chocolate chip cookies.

I used whistled water, which is why it had a bitter undertone. I forgot which tea I was preparing the water for. I gave a cup to my daughter who was in bed with a sore throat bug. She said it made her throat feel better. I finished off my cup of Chun Mee and, although not prepared correctly, was satisfying just the same.
