Organic Jade Oolong Tea

Oolong Tea by Arbor Teas

Taiwan is famous for their oolongs, and after sampling our organic Jade Oolong, you’ll understand why! This lightly oxidized oolong tea comes from Taiwan’s mountainous region of Nantou. The leaves of our organic Jade Oolong are tightly rolled with a medium-green color. They yield a golden infusion with a flowery aroma and a subtle, buttery flavor, with a smooth body and lingering oolong finish. Like other fine oolong teas, our Jade Oolong may be infused a number of times, with each infusion revealing a new nuance of this tea’s complex flavor.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of Arbor Teas’ business philosophy. In addition to offering an exclusively organic selection of teas, they recently became the first tea company to offer their whole catalog in 100% backyard compostable packaging. They’ve also carbon-offset the entire supply chain of their products, from origin to the customer, making Arbor Teas the greenest option for Earth-conscious tea drinkers, and one of few tea companies recognized by Green America.

Since Steepster underwent such a marked improvement I’ve decided to start adding notes, so this is my first.

In my opinion it is not quite hot tea season yet, so this Oolong was cold brewed. My method is to just throw a few spoonfuls of tea in a jug of water and leave it in the fridge for about 14 hours.

This was my first Oolong tea and I found it enjoyable, very much a smooth “buttery” taste.

Last of my Jade Oolong. Joolong.

I just learned that it is customary to brew (quality) Oolong up to 5 times, and that it usually improves with each successive brew.

On an unrelated note, I started a tea group on Gnolia.

For those who don’t know, Gnolia is a bookmarking network similar to Delicious. Right now it’s by invite, but if you request an invite you should probably get one in a day or so. (But you don’t need an invite to view groups or bookmarks.)

Much better this time, a little nutty. This tea was my first tea where the leaves were rolled and it’s taken me awhile to get the amount needed for a good brew right. (Hint: a little less.)

Overbrewed and bitter.
