Decided to take a break in my Oolong infusions (I’ll return to them in a bit) so that I could enjoy a chawan of Matcha. Two days in a row – not like me at all – Steepster is having an influence on me (not saying a bad or a good influence yet… LOL)

This is the first time I’ve tasted this ginger matcha from Art of Tea. This is not a matcha that I would recommend sifting because there are little itty bitty bits of ginger mixed into the matcha. The first time I saw one as I was whisking, I thought it was a bit of the bamboo that had come off of my whisk and I was disheartened… but, then I realized that it was ginger.

A very smooth, sweet flavor to the matcha, with just a bit of bitterness that reaches the tongue at the end of a sip. The ginger is not as pronounced as I might have expected it to be, and it is not a sharp, snappy ginger but, more of a warm, gentle ginger. I like it though. It offers an interesting taste along with the vegetative quality of the matcha.

As I near the bottom of the chawan, the ginger flavor becomes a bit stronger AND I can notice the matcha doing that familiar coating of the palate as the liquid gets a little thicker toward the end. And it’s a pleasant taste when you get a little bitty bit of the ginger and bite into it… YUM!

Wow… 2 bowls of matcha in 3 days! Not at all like me… Steepster is having an influence on me… good influence? bad influence? Haven’t decided yet.

I love this ginger matcha. Smooth and sweet – yummy! I love the ginger in it, and how you can actually bite into the little bits and release some of their peppery power! This particular bowl of matcha has quite a bit more ginger bits than the previous bowls.

This is still not my favorite matcha, though… but, it IS delightful and if I don’t start staying away from Steepster I might end up having matcha on a daily basis or something like I do my Oolong.

I’m having another smoothie with this – but this time I’m using organic Kefir instead of organic yogurt – Whole Foods didn’t have a decent price on my favorite yogurt the last time I was there, darn it! – but to be honest with you, I think I like the Kefir better than the yogurt in the smoothie! It has a gentle, sour-cream-ish tangy quality to it that yogurt lacks.

This time around, I also tossed in a banana, mostly because we had one on the counter and I wanted it consumed. To compensate for the extra fruit (I added more peaches too), I used a tablespoon of ginger matcha instead of a couple of heaping scoops.

The result is a yummier smoothie! BETTER than anything I could get from jamba juice. Now, if only I could convince my kids of this. My daughters look at these matcha smoothies and say “eww… it’s green!” LOL

Decided to enjoy a bowl of this on this very cold, rainy evening… it’s very comforting to cup my hands around the warm bowl and sip the warm, ginger-y matcha. The ginger is not strongly spicy, but it has enough warmth to it to make it pleasant, especially on an evening like this.

The matcha is smooth and rich, although, I must admit after my very frothy matcha latte last night, and the beautifully frothy Den’s Tea Matcha a couple of days ago… I do miss the froth in this cup. It does froth – but not quite as nicely as the latte mixes or Den’s Miyabi Matcha.

Sweet, vegetative, just a little bit of bitter, and warm ginger-y spice = a lovely bowl of Matcha!

Having a Ginger Peach Matcha Smoothie today: organic vanilla yogurt, frozen peaches and Ginger Matcha. YUM!

The smoothie looks a bit like split pea soup (or maybe baby food peas) but, gratefully it doesn’t taste like it (I hate peas). The matcha flavor is softened quite a bit with the other ingredients, but I can still taste it, along with the ginger. The peaches and ginger taste amazing together. The vanilla flavoring of the yogurt adds a nice creamy flavor to the whole thing… Very YUM.

I am contemplating even increasing the numeric rating on this based just on this delicious smoothie, but, I won’t. But… I will just say that this Matcha was MADE to be an ingredient for yummy-yums like this!

Matcha – oh how I love thee!

This ginger Matcha from Art of Tea is delightful. The ginger flavor is quite subtle until you get to about mid-bowl, and then the flavor develops. Every once in a while, you’ll get one of the itty bitty ginger pieces and I love biting into them to release their peppery goodness! YUMMY!

Smooth, sweet, a little spicy. Pleasantly vegetative. I really like how the ginger contrasts with the matcha’s grassy flavor.

(back logging) This came yesterday! I’ve been eyeing this for AGES (year, maybe more), but I’ve always had flavored matchas from 52teas on hand (and still do honestly), but several days ago I got a surprise in my e-mail inbox. Many months ago (probably close to a year) I inquired to make sure this was indeed just ginger and matcha. I’ve since gotten my question answered via Facebook and actually don’t even remember submitting the e-mail lol. Anyway, they said they had a glitch in their system and just now found my e-mail. As an apology they sent me a 10% off coupon code. Not wanting to waste it, I picked 2oz of this up.

This is my very first organic flavored matcha and my first fair trade matcha of any kind. This is actually the first FT matcha I’ve found.

I noticed that, like other flavored matchas, this isn’t GREEN although it is more vibrant than 52teas’ matchas. The typical grassy aroma wafts to my nose as well as the ginger.

I’ve used ginger water (i.e. dried ginger steeped in hot water) to flavor matcha before so I have some idea of what to look for and expect.

BAM! Yes, an Emeril quote lol. But that was my first reaction. The strong grassyness of the matcha hit me first (always nice in a flavored matcha), but running after it the ginger also hit me hard. I’ve never actually consumed dried ginger before and it has a harsh, almost medicinal quality. I never would have used “peppery” on my own to describe it, but when seeing LiberTEAS describe it as such, I completely agree.

I think I prefer steeping my own ginger then just adding the water to matcha, but this is an absolute must try for any ginger lover.

…The only thing I HATE is they say to steep it for 3 min… Incorrect steeping parameters are my biggest annoyance, but saying to steep matcha for a set period of time (which implies decanting upon the completion of steeping) is just stupid and tea companies should know better.

My first experience with an angry client at work today… I’m just greatful it was in an e-mail and not a real time phone call. I’m extremely sensitive and need to work on not taking things personal. You’d think working 3 months as a telemarketer would have worked, but desensitization thru exposure just isn’t effective for me. I need a matcha break. Full chawan.

Decided to sleep in so I chugged some matcha protein water before work. Didn’t help my headache though. :(

1TB of wing sauce added to my chicken yakisoba bowl for lunch… BIG mistake. Had to try to calm my mouth w/ matcha protein water. This was strawberry kiwi. I think pink lemonade would have worked better, but I haven’t been able to find it.

Done w/ work for now. My position is newly created and my boss is really behind so I often don’t work for long periods at a time- that will DEFINITELY change in the future though. Paid my phone bill (for the next 3 months- YAY!) and my credit cards (not yay). It was my first payment since getting my computer fixed and it wasn’t recognized so I had to enter a verification code… that’s when I noticed 2 phone numbers were shown on my account. This can NOT be good. Grrr… I need matcha. Good ol’ fashioned hot matcha in my chawan. I may even have a full bowl.

Have to get up at 2am tomorrow and breakfast isn’t til 7. Decided to have some matcha protein water before bed in case I’m too tired tomorrow.

Made my strawberry protein water w/ this today. Didn’t necessarily make it taste like ginger, but it did tone down the strawberry so it doesn’t taste like strawberry juice. Something I didn’t mention yesterday… this is a LOT foamier than the pink lemonade version… weird.

Matcha OJ- not a large amount of added flavor, but a nice freshness.

Matcha protein water and blackberries is the extent of my lunch today.

I purchased this tea on a whim. Unlike the previous reviewer I didn’t quite understand this blend, yes there are ginger pieces in there but you have to actually chew them to get any ginger flavor out or let it sit for 5 mins to steep the flavor out. I guess I was expecting that they would’ve used actual ground ginger instead. Not bad but not my favorite.
