I went to pick up some cream soda from the drugstore, and lo and behold they had a display of the Bigelow seasonal teas! Personally, I like bagged tea. Loose leaf is superior in almost every way but sometimes you just want it to be really simple. And when I’m sick/busy/lazy, bagged tea is what I turn to. So I’ve been on the hunt for these and the Celestial Seasonings ones as well! Oh and the Stash White Christmas if I find it laying around.

This smells SO strongly of eggnog! One of my favorite holiday treats, bu the dairy does make me a bit nauseous. So I love tea substitutes! With milk and sugar this has a really strong eggnog flavor and a mild black tea taste. Super delicious! Without additions it’s not really very strong tasting, but with them it’s great. Like a creamy chai. I think I’ll have no trouble blowing through a box of these this holiday season. Now to find Candy Cane Lane!

Thanks Alphakitty
I just might be the last person on steepster to try this.

I’m not really a fan of Eggnog. Never really have been. But I will say – this aroma is – SPOT ON! You can’t get any closer than this!

It says it’s a black and green combo/blend base…I can taste more of the green than the black. I can taste a WHOLE LOT OF CREAMY and it’s much like Eggnog. I will also say that it’s a highly flavored bagged tea – it surprises me actually.

As it cools a bit it smells more like butterscotch. It’s pleasant enough. The flavor and aroma is what you would expect with a name like this. I’m not overly fond of the aftertaste but I can’t say much bad about the over all flavored bagged tea experience.

I’m sure glad I got to try this! Thanks again, Alphakitty!

Tea #6 from the ’Here’s Hoping’ teabox.

Moment of truth… I don’t like eggnog. Never have. For some strange reason, however, I am very curious about eggnog flavored teas. Maybe it’s my love of vanilla, or maybe it’s the spices, but for whatever reason anytime I can get my hands on a tea that taste like eggnog I have to try it.

This tea definitely smells like eggnog. Lots of sweetness and spice right out of the package. After it steeps the smell reminds me a lot of vanilla chai. The taste is vanilla with a hint of spice and a creaminess that surprised me. I thought I would need to add milk, but I think the tea is good on its own (well, I did add a bit of sugar). I wish the spices were stronger, but even with less spice this is one of the better eggnog teas I have tried. I’ll have to remember to look for it in the store next Christmas.

I was seeing many reviews for this one from you Steepsterers lately, so I thought I’d dig out one of a couple bags I have around! I haven’t reviewed it somehow! Or had it in a while… It seemed like a good pairing with some pumpkin pie…. my midnight snack. It’s just as good as I remember it and one of my favorite bagged teas. It seems like a combination of Celestial Seasonings Nutcracker Sweet and Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride — another two favorite bagged teas and my favorites from CS. The steep color is dark. It is creamy! The scent is sweet but it smells sweeter than it tastes. I don’t think splenda is in here to ruin it. GOOD. There is only a slight eggnog flavor (but maybe this teabag is older?) but the rest of the tea doesn’t disappoint, so I don’t think its a big deal. The blend of black and green teas is perfect for not overpowering the flavor. I think that was why they combined the two. I love having only a few cups at the most of so many different teas, that way if I only drink a tea once in a while the rest of it doesn’t go to waste. I’d much rather have more teas in smaller quantities! One bag of this left…

-Standard teabag.
-Teabag smells strongly of sugar. Tea liquor smells sugary with a hint of cinnamon.
-Tea liquor is a dark bronze color.
-Creamy eggnog flavor with a subtle cinnamon finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. Creamy and flavorful. Perfect on a cold winter day.

[Backlog] – I thought that this would be a simple black eggnog tea to have on hand during the winter. I wanted something creamy and smooth with that signature eggnog flavor. The dry teabag smelled promising, but once water was added, I lost all of that eggnog essence.

I tasted much more black tea and spice. It was actually more like a cinnamon bun tea. It needed a bit of milk and possibly some sugar to make it drinkable.

I am disappointed that this wasn’t a very good eggnog tea for me, but am happy to have tried it.

Story Time: Even though my tea budget is non existent at this point I persuaded myself to buy a couple of Sheng cakes from Verdant tea. I got 1 Lao Tong Zhi 2011 Sheng Mini-Cake and 1 Lao Tong Zhi Old Growth 2012 Sheng; also I signed up for the tea club. I picked these because I love spicy, smokey, woody tea’s and old tree ones. I really wanted to also get the Shu Old Comrades 2011 brick, but my tea budget wouldn’t let me……damn. It sounded so awesome too. Hopefully I can convince my mom to go halvesies with me so i can get a regular tea order from them. I need my Zhu Rong and that Yu Lu Yan Cha black sounds interesting!!!

Tea Time:
Dear, Bagged Tea companies

Please stop telling people to pour boiling water over tea bags that have Green or White tea in them. Doing so is just wrong and bad, and you should feel bad.

When I saw this tea come through my line at work, I knew I had to try it. I love eggnog, but can’t drink a lot because it is fattening.

I must say I was at first worried how artificial this would taste. I mean it is eggnog flavored tea… I found thought that this tasted pretty good. It wasn’t as artificial or fakey as I thought it would be. It has that same warm malty creamy flavor like eggnog. It made a nice orangey clearish liquor and smelled just like eggnog spices! It was fine plain, but when I added a little Baileys(non-booze) White Spice creamer and it was unreal; though any creamer would work. It was good warm, but became a little bit more richer when it cools. I can see it being a good iced tea.

I would recommend anyone who loves eggnog to give this one a try.

P.S. The back say’s that it is naturally flavored and is a green/black tea mix.

Specfics:

Water: 20oz
Teabags: 2
Pot: Glass
Sweetener: a little under 1TBL in a 16oz mug
Creamer: Not needed but enhances it

So much good stuff today.
1. I got to see my grandparents and cousins
2. My verdant tea of the month came in
3. And the world didn’t explode!f YAYYYY!!!

So when I was at the store I noticed that they had just two more boxes left of this, so I bought them. That means I currently have 3 boxes unopened of this flavor….. totally not hording or stocking up on this flavor. (B^>)

Made some of this for me and my brother. I FINALLY FOUND A TEA HE LIKES!!! MUAHAHAHHA!!!! We were going to watch some anime, but he started to play LOL…. ugh

At least it has FINALLY got’n cold here. It is kinda nice for a change; plus I can wear my leathers more comfortably too.

Had some of this in the morning. But I wanted to let you steepsters know that Adagio is having a sample promotion on their new fruit and match trail mix. It is free….. sorta. I wrote more of the details on my blog, but basically for $5.75 I get that free sample and 2 samples of tea to taste.

Here are the details on my blog:

Had some of this made Ice tea style while I am waiting for the world to end, ahahaha. I tell you what I am going to buy another few boxes of this stuff before it is gone. IT IS SOOO GOOD!!! It really feels like I am having a nice cup of eggnog spice; yet it isn’t over powering in flavor. I wonder if it has something to do with the green tea in the mix? Hmm…..

I’m bored, I had a box of this laying around, and I’ve been drinking sencha all day so I thought it was time for a change. This is one of the few bagged teas I actually enjoy, although there isn’t much actual TEA flavor at all (but what do you expect)? It doesn’t really taste all that much like eggnog, to me it actually tastes a lot like butter rum. I like to think of this as a “junk food” kind of tea. This isn’t something I lean on when I want a quality cup of tea, it’s something I go for when I’m really craving something sweet…and it gets the job done. With a little cream and sugar, it can really ward away a candy/dessert craving and its odd flavor is strangely comforting.

OMG LOVE. You really need to be a milk tea drinker to appreciate this tea, which tastes thick and creamy with eggnoggy goodness. Very vanilla-y and sweet. I love this tea!

I have drank my first three cups of Eggnogg’n Tea this season. It’s definitely a milk tea, but it satisfies my cravings for an afternoon sweet snack without having to indulge in chocolate. :) My rating stands – still love this tea. If you like milk, vanilla, or generally “creamy” tea, you should try this one!

This deliciously aromatic tea must be hovered over and inhaled to get the full experience. It will not disappoint those spice tea lovers, such as myself. If you like chai, then you will be a fan of
this! I must say, adding honey and whatever milk you like (I prefer almond or soy) will take it to a whole new level of sweet, creamy goodness!

This tea definitely needs additions to enjoy. It was a little weak served naked. I added vanilla paste, cream, sugar, and eggnog to it. It’s enjoyable. I would of loved more eggnog flavor. It was nice. I would throw another bag of tea since added so much other junk.

This is my favorite of all teas and I so hope it doesn’t get discontinued. I have bad luck with things I love getting discontinued (like spiced peaches are no longer in area grocery stores).

Unlike most people, I’ve only tried this tea plain and love it that way, so am not sure if I ever want to try it with sugar and/or milk as it’s nearly no calories this way and likely the better way for me to enjoy it. I host high teas pretty often and am thinking the people who have loved this tea at my high teas have also had it plain (and I know they’ve all loved it and raved about it to other people who came to later teas and specifically requested the tea due to having heard friends talk it up).

Definitely a tea that needs milk in my opinion. I did not care for it without milk at all. I originally found this in a Christmas Tree Shop and wish I had purchased more than 1 box as I don’t feel the need to order a case of 6 boxes at a time from the Bigelow website.

One of those teas that taste so much better sweetened and with milk/cream
Amazing with Egg Nog. This is the ultimate way to have a hot egg nog

My mother gifted us this fantastic seasonal tea that my husband and I absolutely love. We’re really disappointed that we can’t seem to find any inside Canada, but we’ll probably end up ordering some along with some of their other seasonal teas. The reason this gets such a high rating is because it’s NOT an herbal tea- it’s a mix between black and green, it’s dairy-free, good without any sugar or other additions, and that makes it plain awesome.

I love this tea in the evening. I always seem to reach for this one when my wife wants hot chocolate. I really don’t think it taste anything like egg nog, but that is not a negative (unless you want egg nog). I enjoy the mixture of black and green tea. It seems to make it a lighter tea that does not have a heavy finish. I think this one will replace my usual nutcracker tea by celestial seasonings until I find a loose tea to be my staple.

I put one teabag of this tea into a cup of milk and microwaved it for ~ 1 min 20 sec. With a bit of sugar, it’s a perfect nightcap! Made as regular tea, it has a light taste that’s somewhat creamy and smooth.

This is one of those holiday teas I found in a little mart after Christmas. Even though it sounded a little strange to me I was very pleased with the sweet, smell and dark, frothy brew. It contains both black and green tea, and surprisingly they did not mask it with the thick, vanilla flavor that is typically done to holiday teas. Overall this is a pleasant tea that I imagine would taste even better with a touch of milk on a snowy day.

not getting the eggnog flavor here. i still like the taste, but i was kinda hoping for more…

EDIT: Ok, so I dumped some eggnog in here and threw it in the microwave. Never thought I would try hot eggnog, but it’s good! I’m getting both tea and eggnog overtones here..quite nice!
