Ah really nice. Lovely, authentic melon smell and flavour that started off more watermelon honeydew but transitioned to cantaloupe, with a slight earthy, warm white tea base. Very enjoyable. Thank you Janelle for the sample. :)

Helichrysum. What a weird ingredient. And yet it does give that nice melon flavor that you wouldn’t expect. Thatbk you Inkling for this sample! The leaves are indeed beautiful. Everything about this tea kinda makes me have visions of a princess sitting in a garden on a warm spring day. I honestly think this should be labeled Melons and cream or Melon bowl because I taste both cantaloupe and honeydew. While it is good warm I find that I am enjoying it much more cold. This is going to come in a close second to Golden Honeydew by Lupicia.

Okay, this is THE quintessential melon tea. I’m so lucky (and sad) to have gotten the last 1/2 ounce.

It’s juicy and succulent. Melon is SPOT ON cantaloupe, in my opinion. The white tea provides a nice backdrop of hay, honeysuckle, and sweet cream. It has a long and smooth finish. The creaminess intensifies over time. It’s fresh, sweet, floral, fruity perfection. I’m in love. I’m going to have a hard time hoarding this one when all I want to do is drink all of it all at once, right now. Damn!

RIP best melon tea ever

Stephanie

Don’t hoard it so long that it goes bad…I’m afraid I might accidentally do that with some of my fave Butiki

kimquat

RIP. I did that with a few blends from Verdant, and I rued the day. It’s going to be so hard with my Butiki teas. ):

If I could have a tea’s baby, this would be my mate.
I’m a snotty little thing about my cantaloupe (I’m from Texas) and NO JOKE, this cantaloupe is dead on. Even the mouth feel is similar to the soft give of ripe cantaloupe flesh on teeth.
I’m probably going to die because Butiki is closing, because my soul mate and tea-baby-daddy will be ripped away from me. Good think I have enough for one more pot and a cold brew…..

YUM! So deliciously creamy. I wasn’t sure what to think about this tea. I am not a huge fan of cantaloupe but I like fruity teas. When I opened the bag this had a strong melon scent and a creamy scent that I just couldn’t place. Upon brewing, the scent was more subtle. I think I may have understeeped this one a bit because the flavors are there but just not as strong as I would like. But that’s my own fault for not really measuring. At first sip you get the cantaloupe flavor and then a creamy note at the end. I sure am enjoying this tea. I’m considering buying more before butiki runs out!

With getting home to my massive Butiki order, I kinda felt obliged to dip into one of the ones I’d been most excited about. When I placed my first Butiki order, I had planned to buy this (along with the plain Bai Mu Dan), but at some point didn’t (not entirely sure why tbh). Anyway, I rectified that this time around and it was deffo worth it!

The dry leaves smell good, I guess, but nothing spectacular – they just smell sweet and welcoming. Nothing bad, for sure, but nothing terribly exciting – they certainly didn’t smell like cantaloupe to me, anyway.

But the steeped tea was a revelation. Even my Dad – the grouchy, Iranian sceptic of any tea that isn’t a lightly fragranced, citrussy black – was impressed, immediately remarking on how much it smelled like melon! :D

After the 3’30", the liquor was a pleasant enough pale brown – darker than I’m accustomed for white tea, but certainly nothing to worry. As for the taste, well…

It’s just delightful. It really does taste just like melon. I couldn’t quite believe it, despite the abundance of excellent reviews telling me that it’s exactly what it would taste like. It’s just a delight. So sweet and refreshing, with just a lovely creamy aftertaste that really help to balance the whole thing out. There wasn’t a hint of bitterness, despite the water I used probably being a little too hot.

I’m super glad I ordered this and I’m definitely going to get through it quickly, even though I won’t be able to order much/any more in future. It’s just delicious and I wouldn’t hate for it to go to waste. Recommend strongly for anyone interested in fruit-flavoured ‘actual’ teas that taste of actual fruit.

I was very hesitant to try this because I’ve never cared much for cantaloupe (although I absolutely adore honeydew). I know…that doesn’t make a ton of sense. With that being said, I think the reason why I was able to love this one was because it is a sort of general melon flavor that is lacking the weirdness that I don’t like in cantaloupe. The cream softened it up, too. Very good.

On a side note, this tea tasting experience was extra special to me because I got to share this with my grandma on Thanksgiving morning. She’s never had loose leaf tea and seemed to enjoy watching me go through the steeping process. It’s a really nice memory I’ll keep as long as I live.

ETA: Thanks to Ost for this sample! (I was so happy writing about my grandma that I totally forgot I hadn’t already given credit where credit was due!) I really appreciate the chance to try it since you know I wouldn’t have purchased it for myself!

It’s awesome that you got to share tea with your grandma. I bet it’ll be a nice memory for her, too. :)

Ost

Glad you liked it! Also, I am glad you got to make a great memory with your grandmother-it’s the little things (:

The Cookie Lady

Oh man! I can’t believe I forgot to say thank you, Ost!

Ost

Hahaha no worries. xD I’ve done that too many times. :P

Wow, this is amazing. Well worth all of the stellar reviews. I am sad that once what I have is gone, it will be the end. I have never in my life tasted a cantaloupe tea…but this tastes very strongly of it, and cream. It is dessert in a cup and I love it. Plus, it is great hot and if it cools down it is juicy and refreshing iced as well.

I’ve never had a melon-flavored tea before and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. This one really did taste just like a slice of fresh, juicy cantaloupe! Drinking it hot was a bit odd, but it was delicious when I let it cool down.

Finally getting to try this one!! So excited!
Also, this is the last tea from Butiki that I have, so I wont’ feel like I have to hurry and try all my samples before everything goes out of stock!
The smell of this one is probably the most similar to RoT’s Honeydew tea, which I wasn’t a fan of.
As for the flavor, it’s definitely not as soft and smooth as Lupicia’s Golden Honeydew, but it’s also not as sour and tart as RoT’s version.
It’s like right in the middle of both.
Which is relieving for me, because I really didn’t like RoT’s version at all.
This one is definitely not as good as Lupicia’s Honeydew or Melon Oolong, but it’s still a good tea. Glad I got to try it! (:
