From Butiki Teas

Creamy Eggnog is part of our holiday series that encompasses a number of holidays from different religions. Many people might not think of eggnog as their number one choice for a Christmas flavor but Eggnog is particularly important in my family’s tradition of celebrating Christmas. Eggnog always marked the beginning of the Christmas season and was the last thing we would drink before we would try to go to sleep Christmas Eve. As a child, getting any sleep Christmas Eve would have been a miracle. There was always so much excitement and anticipation building. Creamy Eggnog pairs our buttery Organic Huangshan Mao Feng with a rich creamy eggnog flavor. The tea and flavor work well with each other and neither overshadows the other. This tea is sweet with a heavy cream and eggy quality. Add a little brown crystal sugar and the tea becomes extremely creamy, rich, and very much like eggnog. Some vanilla notes become pronounced and so do the egg notes. We added safflower for a touch of red for a festive Christmas colored tea.

Ingredients: Organic Chinese Tea, Safflower, Organic Natural Flavoring

Recommended Brew Time: 4 minutes
Recommended Amount: 2 teaspoons of tea for 8oz of water
Recommended Temperature: 180 F

It’s cold. There’s snow. I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. It must be December.

But anyway! Thank you, thank you Short Sorceress!

Eggnog is easily one of my favorite parts of the winter months, but it’s not exactly health food. And usually sits heavy and uncomfortably in my stomach. This tastes like silky vanilla custard with a slightly sweet, eggy cream finish. Add milk, sugar, and the tiniest pinch of nutmeg and you pretty much have spot on eggnog (sans guilt and pain). Aaaaand to the shopping list.

I’m with you. I am DONE with winter. Now.

CHAroma

I’m in a place where we don’t get any snow usually, but we just got an inch or two this weekend. Everyone FREAKED OUT! Schools actually closed. It’s ridiculous. I’m over winter too.

JustJames

oooh….. sounds like a plan to me. i haven’t been able to do eggnog in years (amazing they can still make money).

CelebriTEA

This is a wonderful tea ♥♡♥

A sample from my Butiki order! I used two teaspoons at four minutes (as Butiki suggests) with water cooled way down (supposed to be 180 degrees). The flavor, I don’t seem to be getting very much eggnog. Of course, this is Butiki, so this will not be artificial, so I didn’t expect something fake that would make it taste exactly like eggnog. But there does seem to be a vanilla / custard type flavor, though very slight. The green tea is one that I haven’t had much, but it is a type I seem to be steeping up a lot lately – a very buttery green tea. There is however, a fuzziness to this one that seems to be bothering my already parched mouth at the moment. Fuzziness doesn’t scream eggnog, but it is probably just because I only drank one cup of tea today. That’s rare! I like this one, just isn’t my favorite from Butiki. The second steep did taste just as good as the first though!

Mmmm, I so should have ordered this before. I usually shy away a little from greens because they are usually my least fav kind of tea unless they are jasmine green. But this green is SO good! Creamy and a thick mouthfeel with prominent hints of vanilla. I agree with some other notes that it tastes more like custard than eggnog maybe, but I can definitely see the eggnog as well. I didn’t add any sweetener though.

I resteeped 4.5minutes.

Next time, I will add some sweetener.

Side note: Stacy, do you happen to know the calorie information on the rock sugar? Don’t worry if you don’t have it easily accessible or you don’t know, I was just curious for my weight watcher points!

Stacy’s greens are some of the best. I don’t like a lot of greens either!

I thought I’d go with something milder to start off today and wow… talk about mild. And smooth. And very nice.

I’m used to drinking strong blacks in the morning, so this threw me off at first, but I am loving this. Each sip is very smooth and buttery and just a tad creamy as well. I think this is going to be my favourite of the ‘eggnog teas’. Sorry Della Terra – the rooibos thing was neat but this delicate green tea has got you beat!!!

I’ve got enough left for a few more cups. I’ll have to make it last as I just made my tea order for the month and can’t justify another, even though Butiki has this one on sale. :| Maybe I can snag it in early Feb!!! :P I’ll just have to order enough to make up for the shipping.

Tastes and smells like eggnog to me! The egg custard note comes out near the end. The tangy creamy body is heavily tinged in vanilla. Again, it’s hard to believe there are no dairy ingredients in this. The only thing I might be missing are spices (LiberTEAS has a good suggestion for nutmeg), and possibly some thickness(lowfat eggnog).

My pot tonight is on the diluted side compared to the cup I had last night, where I was able to notice the well paired smooth green base, but it’s still good and eggy.

Thank you, BoxerMama; I really wanted to try this! It helps contain my eggnog cravings without making me feel ill from drinking the real McCoy.. apparently the real McCoy is actually MacKay, which is just confusing and defeats the meaning, but..err, you know, THIS TEA IS GOOD! I’ve had an awkward day.

Mmmm! Wasn’t sure what to drink this evening, I’ve spend the whole day drinking summer tieguanyin and have exhausted the leaves or perhaps my tastebuds. Lasagna doesn’t go well with any tea so I had to brush my teeth and once I got the mint flavor in my mouth I have a craving for eggnog! No long gongfu session required, I can just curl up with a mug or two.

I could tell just from opening the package this would be delicious. And it is seriously spot on, minus the thickness, but it is certainly creamy. In fact I think I prefer this to the real thing, always made me a bit squeemish even though every year I find I do love the taste. I also don’t think I could drink eggnog warm but I love the warm in this!

I’ll probably still have the custard-nog once a year and brew this up the rest of the season. Oh and I love that Stacy’s blends reinfuse so well, this second mug is just as good if not better than the first. Well done!

I don’t care that it’s almost summer – I am SO so happy I picked up this tea. Oh yes.
It’s going to make an amazing iced tea, I just know it!
I’m drinking my Butiki like crazy – at least once a day, but once work slows down (will it ever slow down?) I want to take pictures and make proper blog posts – just revel in the amazing quality that is Butiki. I haven’t been this excited about tea since I first discovered DavidsTea 2 years ago! That’s saying a lot :)

tigress_al

Everything from Butiki is amazing! I need to make another order and this will be on it!
Iced hey, I wouldn’t have thought to try this tea iced!

1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml

Light eggnog flavour on the sip. Strong creamy taste and distinct eggnog sweetness near the end of the sip. Oceanic qualities of the green tea detectable but very well blended. The flavours are balanced in a way that they complement each other. Very well captured eggnog flavour on the aftertaste. Milky-type flavour comes out as the tea cools.

Kittenna

I’m guessing by the rating that you liked it? :P

Raritea

I did- and the flavour improved as the cup cooled. Also, I love the green base in this!

Kittenna

Yeah, I like this one best warm. Hotter than lukewarm, but cool enough to hold a cup in my hands without any discomfort. Haha. And yeah – the base tea is wonderful here. It comes out more in subsequent infusions too, which I love.

Raritea

Awesome! Looking forward to the re-infusion!

Indigobloom

I made this for a friend, and she fell in love when I added a dash of sugar… really brought out the creaminess! SO darn good :P

Sil

I’m buying more of this…..next order because the 1 oz i have won’t last me. THIS tea i dream about sometimes…

Ysaurella

I am impatient to receive my Butiki order to taste this tea :)

What a rotten day! I’m just getting over a cold and work was terrible. hubby is cranky, which he emanates crankiness. Even while we picked out a christmas tree he STILL acted cranky. I was incredibly happy to receive ALL my butiki teas today.
I sent him out for sushi with his friends, not my daughter and I are waiting for the tree to warm up and relax while enjoying for Creamy Eggnog Tea. I’ve had two cups and it is just what the doctor ordered!
It does taste like vanilla cake batter! The green base hops through in the aftertaste. Very yummy!

Things will get better, it’s one of those end of the week need to rest syndromes probably. A tree and rest will hopefully reset the happiness.

BoxerMama

I hope so! Tomorrow is my friday.

OMG!!!
If all of Butiki’s teas are this good….
Sigh (Imma gonna be broke alla the time…lol)
Creamy, buttery & smooth as silk.
This truly amazing tea is strong enough to stand alone.
I need no cream, sugar or anything else.
I may try with the brown crystal sugar next time
just to see if it can make it taste creamier as some have said, BUT
it truly NEEDS nothing…genius brew here <3
I am going to have to order a couple of ounces after Thanksgiving.
(A MUST HAVE FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON)
Thank you, Stacy @ Butiki Teas…WOW!!!

BrewTEAlly Sweet

I’ve been wanting to try this one forever. :( sounds amazinggggg!!

CelebriTEA

It is…definitely a must try …and then a must buy…hahaha
I only got 1/2 ounce because I just wasn’t sure…
Well, now I am sure I could go through about 6 ounces for the
holiday season, but I can not afford to order that much…lol…

Donna A

This is one of my favorite flavored teas. Now that I read your post, I’m going to go fix myself a cup!

CelebriTEA

:-) LOL…you know it is just THAT good, Donna :-)

Donna A

You are right! Hey, I noticed you are a retired RN. I still work part-time as an RN. Can’t wait to be retired like you, but have 3 kids in college!

CelebriTEA

LOL…good for you helping them.
Last year I had cancer in my spine and broke two vertebre.
It damaged the remainder of my spine and many other bones :-(
My doctor made me stop working :-(

Donna A

Oh my goodness. Not a good way to retire! That’s another thing we have in common-cancer (2 different types). In my case, both very treatable. Wishing you complete recovery and healing!

CelebriTEA

Thank you, Donna, I just saw your last note.
I cannot wait to order more of this tea ;-)
