From Butiki Teas

Glenburn Estate Darjeeling is a black tea that originates from the Glenburn Estate located in the Himalayas above the Rungeet River in India. Graded FTGFOP-1 (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe, First Flush), this Darjeeling is comprised of tender shoots plucked during the onset of spring. The Glenburn Estate is working closely with the board of the Ethical Tea Partnership, which focuses on sustainability and living and working conditions of those working at tea estates, to bring the ETP to the Darjeeling region and is focused on maintaining high ethical standards. Our Darjeeling has gentle citrus, fragrant floral, and sweet juicy peach notes with some mild ginger notes. This smooth tea is free of astringency and has as substantial body.

People it is sooooo hot in my neck of the woods!!! Even the birds are staying hidden in the shade.

I’ve had this First Flush Darjeeling for a while now and was afraid it would have lost it’s freshness. I was wrong. It was stored properly, and it’s amazing how fresh and tasty it still is.

This is kind of sour and sweet at the same time, peachy and citrusy.

Super juicy and floral, it’s really the perfect tea for this incredibly hot and humid day!

FF Darjeeling are lighter than SF, but this is bolder than average, fuller bodied.

As it cools, those citrus notes are even more present, this would almost qualify as a lemon/peach/grapefruit “flavoured” tea, that’s how tasty it is.

(Mmm, I have to remember to add that combination of fruits in my next iced tea pitcher)

I haven’t drank enough Darjeeling this year, I’ve missed them. I still have a little bit from Butiki’s sampler, will drink those in no time.

I love a darjeeling that really “pops” with that zesty, tart fruity flavor that you mentioned.

I’ve been feeling the darjeelings lately too. They seem like summer teas, at least to me.

I agree. Nepalese teas produced in the same manner can be just as good as Darjeelings too, for a bit less money.

This tea was the perfect way to start off a Monday morning! It’s a full bodied tea with a lot going on, but never harsh or overbearing. The fruity notes never grow too sweet or sickly, and it’s impressive how it never switches over to astringent even towards the end of the cup. Smooth to the finish, excellent tea!

update. I have now gone through four steepings throughout the day and it is still going strong so I’m inclined to raise my score!

Ahh Butiki. Always comes through for me. I think I need to come up with a vocabularly to describe Darjeelings. At least the first flushes, I have a feeling, are going to become a bigger part of my life.

This is an awesome tea. It still amazes me that a black tea steeps up so light. It’s very smooth and a bit thicker in consistency, like a black tea, except it doesn’t look like a black tea. There seems to be maybe a subtle hay component? Also subtle fruits that I can’t quite nail down. There’s also an awesome sweetness in scent that comes through clearly in the taste.

I want to test out the few other first flush Darjeelings from Butiki, then I will decide which is best for my cupboard. This one is nothing short of delicious though.

This is another sample sipdown too.
