The secret to this tea is to put it in another tea.

On its own it is thin and boring and overly sweet and not a very pleasant drink. But add it to a roasty toasty plain tea and you’ve got a delicious dessert tea.

I was up all night ill once and my SO just brought me giant mug after giant mug of this mixed with a plain black tea. Delicious. Had she brought me this tea on its own, I would have thought she wanted me to stay sick.

I went from wondering how to use all this up to buying more of it once I used it as a mix-in.

tea-sipper

Oh, I’ll have to try mixing this with a black tea! Sounds good!

Anyanka

Yes, it was too thin and buttery for me, but mixed with any old boring black tea, it’s a totally different drink.

I loved the smell, but the taste left much to be desired. I tried it once with one bag and some sugar, and another time double-strength with sugar and milk. The teabags smelled like sugar cookies with orange zest, but even with a double-strength brew, milk, and sugar, the tea was just… empty-tasting. It just didn’t satisfy… and it was kind of nasty and buttery-tasting, too. My boyfriend *cartomancer*’s mother really liked it, though. I actually bought 6 boxes of these thinking they’d be SO awesome because they were the only holiday tea sold out on the CS website… I guess I can return them or exchange them for a tea I like better. Maybe I’ll try it again later with honey and no milk to see how it fares. It’s possible that I overwhelmed it with milk and sugar. I still really want to like this because it smells so good and the blend seems like it should have more depth to it than I’m experiencing, if that makes any sense.

cartomancer

I agree. There doesn’t seem to be much you can do to make this tea palatable.

Jolt

Well, you don’t even like sweet “dessert” teas anyways, so this one probably wasn’t meant for you in the first place.

Holy crap, is this tasty! I brewed 3 tea bags for 16oz for two people. I added sugar, honey, vanilla paste, and cream. It tasted wonderful naked though, but the additions added increase the sugar cookie taste. I love the aftertaste. This has great flavors, just perfect! I love the background flavor of orange. I love that barley is in it. I am watching my gluten, but it lends such a nice maltyiness to the tea.

Mmm, I could see this being tasty iced, too.

I hope they aren’t sold out at the stores, I will need to pick up some for the rest of winter!

If you feel like something sweet, drink this instead! Smells just like a sugar cookie and tastes very good. Very comforting and seems special for some reason. I add milk and sugar to this for a nice treat. Great after dinner tea.

I bought several kinds of Celestial Seasoning’s holiday teas, and after trying this hot found it kind of disappointing (although as others have mentioned, it smells fantastic), especially compared to their Gingerbread Spice, which both smells and tastes great hot. I had the rest of the box sitting around for the longest time and didn’t expect to buy it again. But then just recently I decided to try it chilled, with lots of sweetener and about 1 tablespoon of fat free creamers (mostly original plain but also some Italian Sweet Cream) for every 8 ounces, added to the pitcher. It was delicious!! Sometimes it takes me a few days to get through a gallon pitcher of tea, but I could have gone through this in 24 hours.

I’d used what I had left to make the pitcher. Now I’ll have to get more as soon as it appears in stores again, and stock up. It’s sold on Amazon, but the current prices for it there are ridiculous.

This is my favorite from Celestial Seasonings. I wish they had it year-round! Anyway, I love the scent—so malty and shortbread-like. I love the soothing and smoothly sweet taste. And milk thistle is so good for the liver. This is great to drink after you overindulge—very appropriate for the holidays!

This tea has vanilla, milk thisle, orange peel and roasted barley. It smells kind of like orange and vanilla. I steeped for a couple or so minutes. You mainly taste the vanilla, the orange, and perhaps the milke thisle. The only thing that would of made this better would be more vanilla please.

takgoti

Such a fun name. Sounds potentially delicious.

A friend of mine brought me a box of this last week and I had a cold when I tried it.

At the beginning of the steep, I thought it was going to be mild and a bit too orange-flavored for me. I let it steep awhile longer than I normally would other Celestial Seasoning teas and it took on a life of it’s own. Got a nice color similar to that of a sugar cookie and almost had some body to it. I added some sugar, and a bit too much, to bring it to the full “sugar cookie” flavor.

I enjoyed it despite my cold and lack of good taste buds… I will have to try it again when the last of my cold has past and see if my first impression was correct. If so, I will likely enjoy having this in the winter season most years as a sweet treat tea.

This has a very “bakey”, thick flavor. My guess would be that that is the barley. I had this with milk and a packet of raw sugar and it was a great sweet treat. I’m pretty sure that I will be picking up another box of this before the display runs out because I am liking it more and more each time I drink a cup.

I steep this for ten minutes. The poor indicator at the bottom doesn’t even go that high! :)

I decided to give this a go tonight when scouring through a meager selection of tea at a meeting and was pleasantly surprised. Buttery, smooth, and sweet. It tastes like cookies in liquid form. I added milk and sugar (which probably helped accentuate the flavors tremendously) and it suited me perfectly as a nice after dinner dessert.
