I wanted to like it, but it didn’t really taste at all like a sugar cookie to me. The taste was very faint and, even with a little sugar added, it didn’t really get much better. Didn’t finish my cup; sadly not one I’ll drink again.

Lexa took this one from the box and was so excited by the scent…but I couldn’t smell anything! Odd.

I steeped it up and it smelled exactly like a sugar cookie. Exactly!

Sadly, there was essentially no actual flavour. But, Lexa said it tasted like a liquid sugar cookie to her! How bizarre! More for her to enjoy!

You might try two bags to the cup. That helps.

Courtney

Thanks!

It’s okay with a bit of milk, but still tastes a bit like Play Doh. It’s not very palatable to drink straight.

As much as I wanted to like this one, the sugar cookie flavour was lacking. Not only that, but the mouthfeel was so thin, with not much of a finish to savour. Making this herbal into a latte is what saved it for me. Milk and some sugar helped to better solidify the idea of sugar cookies in my mind. Shortbread even. Latte will definitely be my go-to method of preparation going forward with my remaining handful of tea sachets.

Despite not loving this blend, it’s the best representation I’ve tasted of sugar cookies (in tea form) thus far.

I felt the same about this one. I had heard it was great, but then I couldn’t taste the sugar cookie at all.

Lexie Aleah

I find that I have to use 2 tea bags per cup to get a nice cup of this tea plain. (:

Lexie Aleah

Also steeping it for 8-10 ten minutes

Ahh, I’ll try that next time! Thanks for sharing!

I did not buy this tea for the flavour; I bought it for the milk thistle (which has a lot of health benefits)

When I opened this, it smelled like cardboard or play-do? However, once steeped, it does not taste that bad! It tastes like a sugar cookie (but with no sweetness). I enjoyed this one, and I look forward to repurchasing it solely because of the milk thistle.

However, if this tea had no milk thistle in it, and this was just based on taste, I would not repurchase it.

It’s been a while since I had the Celestial Seasonings holiday teas, but this used to be my favorite one. I may need to pick some up if I see them at the grocery store… ;)

Silent Kettle

Same! I’ve been getting more into loose leaf teas recently, but honestly, Celestial teas are awesome! Haha. And for sure! :) I’m so glad you liked this one and I hope you have the chance to pick it up the grocery store when you get the chance.

Cameron B.

Neither of the grocery stores I went to over the weekend seemed to have these yet… I did pick up one fall Stash tea though. ;)

I can smell the sugar cookie in the scent. But I taste … grass.

I leave the bags in as recommended in other tasting notes and it just gets grassier. It tastes as if I’ve left my mouth open while mowing the lawn.

My preparation included no additives. No milk. No cream. No sweetener. Just it as is.

Is my tongue broken?

Holiday Tea-son! This came in the Discovery Teabox, and though I’ve seen this one reviewed many times, I actually have never tried this one. It fits my monthly theme nicely, so why not finally try it out? Thanks so much to Skysamurai for organizing and all participants of the box!

The teabag smells very buttery and sweet. The steeped tea is slightly buttery, with some subtle nutty and vanilla notes. There is a very slight lemon creme note toward the end of the sip. It really does remind me of a sweet sugar cookie with a lemon glaze topping, and it is quite nice. The flavor is perhaps a little weaker than I prefer for my herbals, and I did like it better when I added a few more teabags to my teapot. But this is certainly a bagged tea I wouldn’t mind keeping around, I can see why so many people sing its praises. It is quite tasty, and I do find these sweet, desserty herbals really nice before bed.

If you can find it in stores Tazo’s Glazed Lemon Loaf Tea is very good too and quite similar to this one though more lemon heavy. It does help to use 2 tea bags per cup as well. The Tazo one tastes just like Starbuck’s Lemon Loaf to me!

Mastress Alita

Ah, I usually make my herbals in a dobin (a Japanese teapot that holds 2 cups of water) and I had put two teabags in it (1 per cup) and did find it a little weak until I had doubled it to four teabags, and then it was much better. So I guess 2 teabags per cup must just create the better brew on these.

I think I have seen the Tazo dessert teas at my local Fred Meyer, I’ll have to check it out.

I recently opened the box of this I’ve been saving for the holidays, and I’ve already had several bags. The flavor is so buttery and delicious. It’s like an actual sugar cookie. I’m going to have to order some more boxes of this. I use two bags for 18 oz of liquid, and I add sugar, milk, and vanilla. It’s one of my very favorite teas. I’m sorry it gets so many negative reviews. It really does need those additions to make it great, but I don’t hold that against it because it brings the buttery flavor that I rarely see in a tea.

gmathis

Sugar Cookie has a sort of sentimental cult following around here! And indeed, it’s high time I had some!

AJRimmer

Stores near me sadly never have any, so I have to order it online. It’s so good!

gmathis

Locally, we usually get seasonal rack displays of holiday CS and, when we’re lucky, Bigelow flavors (Eggnogg’n is my favorite.)

Shae

This hasn’t been one of my favorites, but I’ll definitely be trying it now with the additions you recommend!

After a Celestial Seasonings hiatus of YEARS, I grabbed a box of this at the store because I need to bump up my tisane stock a bit and I remembered this had been weirdly popular on Steepster. It is pretty good, though the barley is a bit of an odd flavor in the mix. It does kind of taste like sugar cookies? I wish the orange peel came through more because I always used to put orange peel in my cookies and I miss it.
