I won’t post every time I have this one for my evening cup – but right now I am still enjoying having found enough on the shelf to get me through the coming year. Love this stuff.

Bonnie

You need to come to celestial seasonings just to stand in the mint room.

ms.aineecbeland

I did view this brand name tea at the grocery store but I did not buy; now I wish I had. I will keep an eye for it; and cherish as you seem to be doing. I am hoping that it is not to syrupy and sweet but more like their peppermint tea or such. Thank you for sharing.

Bonnie

I think it’s like a peppermint stick. BTW the big double door warehouse mint room at Celestial Seasonings (about 45 min.from me) is the best part of their tour. You walk into a blast of mint scent in the extreme.

K S

Seule771 This has a decaf green tea base that adds some color but not a lot of taste, with peppermint (tasty and not overbearing), and a touch off vanilla. It is the vanilla that knocks it out of the park for me. There is no stevia or other sugary things added so you don’t have to add it if you don’t want it.

Bonnie I want to believe that would be awesome rather than taking what little breath I have away. Does it make your eyes burn?

Bonnie

No, your eyes don’t burn. It’s where the mint is stored, not processed. If you inhale you get that cool mint feeling though. What’s cool is how it fills your nose and mouth like a vaporizer but there’s no mist.

Bonnie

Are there flavors you have trouble finding? If so, they’re easy for me to get here close to the factory if you ever need to get some.

K S

Thanks Bonnie, I’ll keep it in mind. So far I am only addicted to this one and sleigh ride. Both are seasonal – I just have to watch for them. If I don’t stumble upon sleigh ride in the next month I have a market that will order it. I also drink Sleepytime extra but it is always available locally.

Suziqzer

Bonnie… I had to go and look to see where the C.Seasonings tours were. Too far for a nice weekend trip for me :( I grew up drinking Sleepytime and now my son loves it. I’ve enjoyed trying other flavors of theirs through the years and it would be fun to see (& smell)their factory & warehouse. If Hubby gets his trip out west that he wants, I might have to ask him to swing by for a tour there!

ms.aineecbeland

Hi all,
I am just reading of the Candycane tea comments. I don’t log in much anymore. I have yet to look for this tea to give it a try. One of you made mentioning of ‘Stevia’ about it not having any; as this is good. I don’t care for Natural Leaf Stevia or such at all. It has an after taste that cannot be undone. I am sorry to say. Another good comment was about the Vanilla contrasting nicely with the peppermint and this is good counterbalance as well.

I must remember to have a look for this tea when next I am in a proper grocery store. ALDI’s does not carry Celestial Seasonings of any kind.

I wish for you all a very happy holiday; and let us be kind to one another. I know I am sensitive and I take things wrongly but there are painful comments/innuendo applied at times here. Or it is all imagine on my part.

We minced of words and not of meat. Happy teas to all and a wonderful New Year.

K S

Happy Teas to you seule771. If you have a Target nearby they often have a selection CS offerings.

gmathis

seuele771, good to see you back. You have been missed! Sweetness and joy to you this Christmas!

Yesterday and today I’ve had a weird annoyance in the back of my throat…triggering a gag reflex. VERY strange. I can’t properly explain it actually. It’s scary because DH has been dealing with a sinus issue since April and it’s sort of what he has described…HOPE that isn’t it.

This tea has always helped my throat for soothing or for clearing – I hope this helps this unexplained issue as well.

The reason I have always rated this one so high is because of that reason and I like the minty taste but also because it’s a bagged tea I go back to time and time again for various reasons. This is the highest rated bagged tea I have ever rated.

Scott B

This is my highest rated tea ever!

In the past I have had this sensation in the back of my throat-it felt like there was some food there that I couldn’t swallow. Turns out it was an acid reflux irritation in the esophagus. The way the nerve carried the sensation just made it feel like it was in the back of my throat. Don’t know if that’s anything similar to what you are feeling? It didn’t make me gag, though.

TeaEqualsBliss

Yes! That is very similar. I’ve never had Acid Reflux problems…don’t even know what it would feel like or how to handle, actually. How long did it last?

TeaEqualsBliss

Also…knowing you are vegan…I’m vegetarian…what did you do for it?

Scott B

That’s the tricky thing about reflux-it can manifest itself in many ways that are not recognizable as reflux.

Well, I went to a gastroenterologist, because I’ve had reflux off and on for awhile. She gave me a liquid medicine called Carafate which is kind of a pain-you can’t really eat or drink for an hour or two before and one hour after taking it.

However, if you’ve not had reflux before, maybe just some over-the-counter ranitidine (Zantac) might help. There’s a couple generics that don’t have the gelatin coating. Another thing you could try is some Fruit and Sour Jolly Ranchers-or anything with malic acid in it (such as sucking on a slice of lemon).

Another thing that may or may not help is an over the counter probiotic. I use Nature’s Bounty probiotic with acidophllus. It’s good to take a probiotic, anyway. Simethicone (Gax-x) may also provide some relief. I take a probiotic and simethicone every day and now I never need carafate and almost never use ranitidine.

If nothing helps-or if you just feel nervous about your symptoms and can’t wait, you should obviously consult your doctor.

Lynxiebrat

My Dad has been taking Prilosec for a couple of years for his acid reflux, so you could try that. At the moment I just take heartburn over the counter stuff because it’s cheaper and I don’t have it often. My doctor Ok’ayed that. I think I’ll also try the Sour Jolly Ranchers….been years since I’ve had those.

TeaEqualsBliss

Thank you both :)

Scott B

You’re welcome :) I forgot to address how long it lasts. It’s variable. If it’s not too bad, it may resolve on its own in a day or two. The other options-Ranitidine, simethicone, malic acid may start to provide relief the same day. Malic acid would probably work the fastest, but not necessarily provide relief for all that long. It works by forcing your body to produce extra saliva, which helps neutralize acid. The probiotic would take longer to have an effect-and I don’t know how effective it would be if used alone.

Good luck

tigress_al

This is one of the best bagged teas out there. It can stand up to a really long steep, and caffeine free, so you can drink it anytime.
As for what seems like acid reflux, try a bit of Zantac and see if it works or not, but definitely talk to your doctor if you are concerned or it doesn’t go away.

Fjellrev

I’ve heard so many good things about this tea on another forum. Hope it’ll come back for the holidays again.

Batrachoid

Eating lots of okra can help. It’s loaded with mucilage. It helps my cousins with acid reflux a lot when they want to eat iffy foods).

I was a bit skeptical about the peppermint/cinnamon/vanilla combo, but so many people rave about this blend on here that when I saw it 2/$5 at Harris Teeter I caved and bought 2 boxes. I figured if I didn’t like ti , it would be easy to unload via a swap or giveaway! Surprise, surprise, I like it too! It smells like Christmas in a cup, and the taste is refreshing and uplifting. Just the thing the cheer and warm me on a cold end-of Daylight-Saving-Time morning.

I saw it at my Harris Teeter also, but bought the Stash Tea Holiday Chai instead, which I really like. Looks like I am going back for this one, though, after all the great reviews!

Janefan

I bought the Stash White Christmas, and Christmas Morning, both of which I love. I drink White Christmas (ginger/mint) year round, and the Christmas morning is my favorite bagged breakfast blend. I bought it as end-of-season closeout pyramid teabags from Stash’s website one year and didn’t notice any great difference except the high price, so it’s back to grocery store bagged for me. I did shell out for A&D Damn Fine Holiday Blend to satisfy my high quality loose leaf black breakfast tea needs.

ashmanra

I have White Christmas as well. It is a nice, comforting mint. I haven’t tried Christmas Morning, but since it is on sale I may have to go back and get that one, too! I bought extra Holiday Chai to send to my daughter’s boyfriend in Northern Ireland. He really likes it.

So the green base of Candy Cane Lane isn’t bitter at all?

Mercuryhime

Why doesn’t my grocery store carry any Christmas teas? so sad.

mpierce87

@ashmanra – I haven’t noticed Candy Cane Lane being bitter and I routinely abuse this tea with too hot of water and leaving the bag in the cup for the entire time I am drinking it.

Janefan

I didn’t find it bitter either, and I’m pretty sure the water was “too hot” (i.e. didn’t really have any time cool after boiling). My hubby made it and I wasn’t supervising.

ashmanra

Thanks! That was my big hesitation in buying it. I am much more a fan of black tea or oolong, though there are greens that I like!

ashmanra

Mercuryhime – at our grocery store these are not in the tea section but in special cardboard displays here and there in the store. Could that be true of your grocery store? They may have them after all – here’s hoping!

mpierce87

@Mercuryhime – It may also just be too early in your neck of the woods for Christmas teas to show up. Last year, none appeared in my area until about a week after Thanksgiving! Keep checking, you never know!

Janefan

Yes, they were in a cardboard display in a section right near the front entrance of the store, which seemed to be full of “holiday cooking/baking essentials”

SimplyJenW

If you have Trader Joe’s nearby, their Candy Cane Green Tea is the same and usually cheaper. I was in love with this tea before I discovered loose leaf…and I still like it very much!

Mercuryhime

Thanks guys! I’ll keep an eye out. :) I also have access to a Trader Joe’s but my husband is always pushing me along when I pause at the tea display. He seems to think I have too much tea already. But they all taste different! I’ll have to go without him next time. :)

Well, I have never had this particular tea before but so many people seem to love it! I was at Whole Foods tonight at decided to pick some up to try it.

First off, it is VERY minty. I can taste way more peppermint than any of the other ingredients, with cinnamon off in the background somewhere. I don’t taste too much vanilla and I decided to add a bit of coconut sugar because I felt it needed that to be more like a Candy Cane.

Ummm… I was hoping this would be a little less minty and have slightly more green tea and the other flavors. Sometimes peppermint gives me heartburn but of course I had to try it anyway! Still, it is a fairly nice tisane and most likely I will finish the box off someday. :)

Bonnie

One of the best things about the tour of Celestial Seasonings is the Mint Room. You step into a separate room that is like you shrunk and jumped into a mountain of this tea. The scent almost knocks you down.

TeaBrat

Wow – I can only imagine. I felt like it was overwhelming when I was drinking it!

Bonnie

Is it still raining in S.F.?

TeaBrat

Not right now! :)

Jolt

It’s not a tisane; it’s make with decaffeinated green tea! I forget that, too… and so does my boyfriend, who hates green tea but loves this tea! How did you think to find coconut sugar, and why did you add that particular kind of sugar to this tea?

Jolt

*made

TeaBrat

Hi Jolt, I bought the coconut sugar at Whole Foods just to try it. I don’t know what inspired me to put it in this tea but it was nice!

Jolt

Oh, cool! Thanks! :)

I love, love, love this tea for both the taste and convenience! It is a great lazy drink to just leave in the bag, add sugar/milk, and let it sit around while you sip it through the night. Plus, this green tea does not become bitter no matter how long or hot you steep it. Yum, yum, yum!

Daddyselephant

I managed to find five boxes of this at my local bulk store…you know I stocked up!

KeenTeaThyme

Agreed – this is a fave (along with my love affair for sugar plum spice). :)

Daddyselephant

Oooo, me too, KeenTeaThyme!

Rabs

Totally agree with you! I need to find some around here and stock up for the rest of the year :)

mpierce87

Between this one and Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride, I’m a decaf happy camper. I think I will have to buy a couple more boxes if I see it again this season though.

Sometimes just because you CAN do something, doesn’t mean you SHOULD . For instance, just because you CAN eat four Krispy Kreme donuts in one car ride does not mean you should eat them. Or just because you CAN chug two bottles of water in under a minute, does not mean you should. I, of course, am speaking in the hypothetical here however should you decide to do those things and just happen to feel quite nauseous, you may want to drink a mint tea. Perhaps one like this tea. Just a thought.

keychange

Omg I miss Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They had them here in Canada for like five minutes once upon a time, and I could blow through a box no problem. Could have, I mean. I never did that, obviously. I meant it hypothetically.

VariaTEA

Of course, all hypothetical here :P. And should you hypothetically be in search of more, last I heard there was Krispy Kreme downtown by the Eatons Center.

keychange

Are you serious?!?! that’s such good news…hypothetically speaking. Really good news for those people (unlike me) who enjoy sugar. Yup, good for those people.

yyz

We still have one in Mississauga, but you don’t find them anywhere else here anymore. They attempted to expand to fast, and crashed and burned.

VariaTEA

Apparently there are two downtown Toronto: http://www.krispykreme.com/select-your-store

Fjellrev

Are they a lot better than Tim Horton’s doughnuts? I only ever had their original glazed once and didn’t care for it. There used to be one in Calgary but it apparently only lasted a few years.

VariaTEA

I have an insane sweet tooth so I love them but most people find them disgusting. It is hard to compare them to Tim’s though just because they are so different (as in they are all coated in sugar whereas Tim’s aren’t :P)

yyz

I only like them when fresh and hot. I find the cold glaze ones greasy and well gross. I think that’s why their attempt at selling them at other stores failed. They have some interesting flavours of filled donuts though, some of which are pretty good.

TeaLady441

The only place I’ve encountered them is at fundraisers, and… how old are those donuts? :O
(that didn’t stop me from buying a box… OMG)

OMGsrsly

I prefer cake donuts, which is good because there are no delicious light fluffy sugary melt-in-your-mouth gluten free donuts. There is a Krispy Kreme here, and my boss sometimes brings in a box. So tempting, so dangerous.

tigress_al

Mmm donuts

Ahhh…this is a nice, sweet, light mint green tea. And it’s Decaf!!!! This will be nice for my evening cups. I like the smooth vanilla addition to the mint, it really makes it taste like candy cane rather than strait mint flavor. The green tea shines through in taste as well. I will have to get another box to have after the holidays…I really like this tea.

amandajo

I might just have to see if I can find this one soon, guilt free candy canes sound right up my alley!

Meghann M

@amandajo-I found it at my local Target. I think Walmart has had it too if I remember correctly.

I had a cup of this earlier today. I added some sugar to it. This tea is good and comforting to me with peppermint and some vanilla and cinnamon. I still think this is a really good tea.

My birthday is today I am 26 now. I wen’t to olive garden yesterday for lunch. And today had a peanut butter chip/chocolate brownie from a mix I bought.

I really do love this cup of tea. So much that I just changed my rating to 100 for it. With Sufjan’s Stevens holiday music in the background, it’s just that kind of day!

TeaEqualsBliss

Just last night I took it from a 99 to a 100!!!! :P LOVE IT!

Bethany

Aw man, I have an order from Mighty Leaf sitting on my doorstep waiting for me, but you’re making me want some of this when I get home.. love this stuff. And you have excellent taste in music!

rabbysmom

Will have a cup tonight as well! I love that this tea tastes good and it’s cheap :) Does anyone sweeten this tea? I usually drink it straight and it tastes great.

laurenpressley

Haha, great minds, TeaEqualsBliss! :)

Thanks, Bethany, it sounds like you must have excellent taste in music, too. :) I hope you had time for both some Candy Cane Lane and Mighty Leaf!

Rabbymom, I don’t sweeten it, it seems sweet enough as it. I wonder what others’ preferences are!

rabbysmom

Just finished a cup and it was perfect! I have a back up box already since I’m close to being done with this one.

This is some yummy stuff. Kind of like a liquefied candy cane with a nice splash of vanilla thrown in. I always enjoy having it in my house during the winter months.

VariaTEA

I am definitely happy I sent my dad on a hunt for this. I also asked for a bunch of the other holiday blends. In fact I think I asked for all of them with the exception of Sugar Plum.

gmathis

I think Sugar Plum is the only one I haven’t tried.

VariaTEA

How did you find the others? Are they worth it?

Veronica

I like Sugar Cookie and I think Nutcracker is okay. Sugar Plum is my least favorite out of the holiday blends. They all have a sweetness to them, but Sugar Plum is over the top sweet. And I’m a girl who has no problem putting sugar in her tea!

VariaTEA, I’d be happy to send some to you as part of our swap.Just let me know.

VariaTEA

haha good thing I did not ask for that one then. Thank you for the offer but I have already asked my dad to pick me up some. As soon as my many tea orders arrive at his apartment, he will ship everything to me :)

K S

All this talk about Candy Cane Lane, you know I have to brew up another cup.

Veronica

K S, you’re the reason I went out and bought a box! Your statement about it being liquid crack stuck in my brain until I had to have some. :)

tigress_al

I have been looking for this in my grocery stores and haven’t found it yet! I need to have this every winter

VariaTEA

Target sells them I believe.

TeaLady441

I’ll have to try Target too! I’ve been looking everywhere for these!

yyz

So far I’ve only seen them at bulk barn, near me.

K S

Found this and Sugar Cookie at Target. I never shop Target but made a special trip to get my fix. Veronica, sorry and your welcome at the same time ;)

yyz

Great! Maybe they will have some here. So far target here has been severely dissapointing. They basically spent a fortune on renovation and reconstruction and then stockedbthe stores in such away that they may as well be the same store they replaced. Nothing to go out of your way for.
