It reminds me that childhood. Japanese children likely start taking Houjicha to be the first tea then experience other teas. Felt bitter taking Sencha and was given looks like and taste like this tea (not sure what it was…) and I liked it. No twist of fancy work to this tea though has comfortable warm feeling in it.
The dry loose leaf aroma is AMAZING! It’s tremendously savory…vegetal, I want to eat it.
The flavor is beautifully-done! I’m in LOVE.
The taste is milder than the aroma but equally as intriguing. It’s sweet slightly vegetal. Reminds me of steamed green veggies…not quite broccoli…but not quite peas or beans either…somewhere in the middle of all 3.
