Day 3 & 15 of the Clipper advent calendar. The lemon in this has a candy sweetness to it, probably from the licorice root, while the mate adds a savory note reminiscent of rosemary. I actually like this better cold – the licorice fades out a bit and it makes the lemon taste more lemony and less candy-like. I have a tasting note from 9 years ago saying that I had this and found it tart and lemon-y, and I remember genuinely enjoying it, but it’s just not doing the trick today.

Colour: Golden Brown.
Smell: Fresh lemongrass with an earthy under tone (probably from the Yerba Mate).

My first sip was lip puckering lemony which gives you a bitter, sweet and sour explosion all at once. For me it’s the sort of thing that would help to awaken my senses in the morning but I suppose it would be great for those who adore super strong lemon tea at any time of the day.

The Yerba Mate adds depth and keeps it together nicely, without it I would imagine this tea would be like sucking a fresh lemon. It’s so lemony it reminds me of lemon drop sweets :)

Advent calendar Cupper #3.
As the name of this blend was indicated directly in English, it was easy to find the Clipper reference. According to the box, the blend consists of 43% citronella, 23% Yerba Mate and 15% lemon verbena.
I´m not a mate drinker, and even less a mate fan, so it was quite a nice surprise to be able to enjoy this infusion ;-) Verbena and citronella join forces to add a nice citrusy ting to the more herbal backbone. It makes me think of a fresh chamomile infusion, in a good way (chamomile isn´t much appreciated by my stomach), so I should give this infusion a try whenever I´ve overeaten. Balanced blend, “rise and shine” to get going in the morning in a gentle way.

Again…
Much shorter, as I don´t recall it so well. Can´t we have some autosaves for tasting notes?

I have a physics exam today again, I did not studied much for it. As an extra – I have flu. I brain feels boiled, can´t focus at all.

Colour of brew is brown, nothing really fancy – maybe yellow (golden) notes.
Aromas are lemon, slightly sour and herbal.
Taste is very similar – lemon, but with some herbal aftertaste.

Overall, it is quite okay. Maybe my teaste buds are numb, so I can´t enjoy it so much. I feel numb completely myself.

Finished a cuppa; it went better than expected. A verbena in makes me feel bit better probably (I googled few effects it should have), yerba maté woke me up and overall it was nice blend. Not that I would make another cup, but certainly nice. Now, to the physics.
